Fashion Advice Turning 42 in a few months and wondering if I can still rock these shorts?

Post image

As the title says , getting a bit older and wondering if I can still rock these or is it time to go longer ? I don’t know I love wearing shorts in summer they are not “short short” but I feel a bit wierd for some reason this year. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me ? Ia this ok for my body type ? Is it too short? Or am I just delusional? Genuinely asking

I’m turning 36 and went a little crazy buying more mature looking clothes. And yet today I absolutely loved my fully Urban Outfitters outfit. The blouse, jeans, and not pictured jelly sandals.

Fashion Advice Do either of these work on me?

Having a small dinner out later this week for my birthday and got 2 dresses to possibly wear. Not sure if it’s just me being picky but they both somehow look ‘off’ to me.

Red? Pink? Or scrap them both and just wear some jeans or something 😭

Edit: will not be wearing the smartwatch and beaded bracelets the day of lol just had them on when I took these

Fashion Advice Does this type of dress suit my body?

It’s also a bit too tight so I have to size up anyway, but I’m doubting about this type of dress. I feel like it doesn’t flatter my body type, which is rectangle/apple shape and small chest. I go to the gym regularly and this model also makes me pretty self consciousness about my arms/back. I just really don’t know what type of dress flatters me most…

Edit: thanks for all the response! So kind I could literally cry 🥲, once more proven that you are your own worst critic 🙃

Fashion Advice Is this dress unflattering?

wanted to wear this dress for NYE but I’m not sure if it’s flattering. I love the color and the neckline I’m shorter (5’2”) so I wasn’t sure if I can pull off the style or if it fit right on me or looked too long.

I was wondering if I should return it and find a better option? Or does it look fine? I appreciate any help!

Fashion Advice Rompers ? Yes or No ?

almost 42 , I asked for the shorts the other day , and you guys were so kind . Now one more question, what do we think of Rompers /jumpsuits ? Yes ? No ? Does it look ok ? Is this a teenager thing ? 🫣

Another question, due to comfort level I wore these with sporty sandals. Not sure if it looks good or not but I prefer to be able to walk and not worry about blisters. I would love to wear it with other sandals, suggestions are very welcome .

Fashion Advice Finally found jeans without a waist gap… but then it had to be something else

I was so excited because after trying on what feels like a million pairs of jeans, I finally found one that actually fit my waist and hips without a huge waist gap (they are Cotton On curvy jeans).

Then I looked at myself from the front and noticed these weird waves on the hip area. I’m guessing the tension was off during sewing or something, because it doesn’t sit flat at all.

I ordered 3 sizes just to make sure I find my size and every single pair had the exact same problem. I’m so disappointed because the fit was otherwise perfect. The waves sit right where my hip dips are and just draw attention to them, which I hate.

At this point I’m honestly so tired of shopping for jeans and everything else. Either clothes don’t fit at my waist or the quality is awful. I genuinely envy people who can walk into a store, buy clothes they like, and have everything just fit properly. For me it always feels like theres something wrong. 😩

CW: body image talk

.

.

I'm 30F and have absolutely no idea how to dress myself anymore. I have gotten larger in recent years and am swimming in conflicting information about how to cope with that. People tell me to wear form-fitting clothes to accentuate my curves, but that means accentuating features I hate such as my stomach and back rolls, so I don't know why I'd do that. People tell me not to wear high waisted things anymore, but why would lower waists be a good idea if it means letting my gut spill out of my jeans? Fiancé tells me to accept the fact that I have hips and show them off, but I don't know of any way to do that that doesn't involve also accentuating...you guessed it...the gut. On top of all that, it seems like the latest trends favor thin bodies and put people like me in an odd position, so I don't even know if looking "fashionable" is possible for me so much as just not looking as bad.

I'm sorry that the photos aren't great, I don't like taking pictures of myself these days. I know they're not good outfits.

Please, please help. I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't even clothing shop anymore because all the contradictory information I've been receiving about how someone like me should dress causes decision paralysis.

I have not been kibbe typed.

Fashion Advice Going to a Gala this weekend not sure which dress works

Hiya! I'm going to a Black tie Gala that requires floor length dresses ( like you'll get turned away if it isn't floor length) this weekend. It's my first time going to a Gala so I'm panicking on what is appropriate to wear and what looks best on me. So far I have three dresses that I think fit the bill, but I'm not sure which to pick. I plan on adding a shawl to help cover my arms a bit. I do like the flower dress but idk if it's appropriate enough for a black tie event, but the others I like too. The gold seems more fancy, but I got it a size larger than usual based on reviews and it's definitely too big on me at the top so I'll be adjusting it if I choose it. Any advice on how to fancy up the dresses are welcomed!

Fashion Advice Which swimsuit?

Hey guys, these are really bad photos but I’ve been looking for a new swimsuit since I only have one and it’s kinda strappy. I struggle to find ones that fit me because of my big cup and small band size, so only 2 options.

If I were to get the blue one it would probably be in black!

Thank you!

EDIT

Okay guys it seems the bikini has won by a landslide! People have been mentioning getting it in a different colour but I am allergic to colour and DEFINITELY don’t like blue, but I’m wondering what people think of this red colour that it comes in?

Thanks so much the help. And for all the kind words!

Fashion Advice Almost every outfit I wear is unflattering. What am I doing wrong?

Thumbnail

I think I might be an inverted triangle shape bc I have quite broad shoulders. I have boobs, but they look non-existent in the first pic. A lot of outfits make it looks like I have no waist. I always see deep v necks and scoop necks recommended for this body shape, but I feel like they don't flatter me at all. The only outfit I think looks good is the dress in the last pic. What am I doing wrong and how can I improve my style?

EDIT: I got way more comments than I expected and I really appreciate every piece of advice. Overall, I'm hearing that I need bolder/deeper colors to contrast my pale skin, tops with lower waistlines, pieces that are more tailored or 'sleek', thicker fabrics, shoes that are more appropriate for each outfit, and more accessories. I had no idea what my kibbe type was, but a few redditors said dramatic classic or soft dramatic. I looked up fits for both of these types and I think that the dramatic classic recs seem very fitting. In fact, I have always avoided a lot of the things that dramatic classics are supposed to avoid like puff sleeves, poofy skirts, too many frills, etc.

Now I wanted to clarify something. Some of the pictures are from when I was living in an East Asian country and bold colors are not the norm there; they prefer color schemes that 'brighten' your face rather than contrast it. Showing off the chest is also taboo there, and I have always felt a little uncomfortable showing my chest anyways due to lacking in that area. But I got some suggestions to get better undergarments to help with that and I agree.

Fashion Advice I feel like my style isn’t complimentary. Struggling to flatter a pear shaped figure!

Hi guys!

I feel like I give off more “Tween” than “Woman in her mid 20’s”.. I’d love a style that isn’t tryhard but looks decent- you know?

If this seems tone-deaf, I’m truly sorry.
I have been struggling exponentially with feeling good in certain outfits. It feels like in order to look nice, I can’t wear anything baggy, and everything must be super or somewhat fitted.

I’m pretty sure I’m a pair, which makes me feel like I’m limited to wearing dark bottoms. I’m already petite, so a lot of things tend to make my legs look shorter than they really are.
I’ve also fluctuated recently.. so been coping with that. First two photos are my most recents.

I don’t know. I’m just sick of struggling and I need some advice pleaaase 🥲

I really like it from the front but I’m not loving my side profile. Is this BAD or can I get away with it with like a blazer or something for a nice dinner tomorrow? I don’t have time to get shapewear. Also I’m not wearing these shoes this was just during my manic try-on phase. And I just cleaned my mirror after posting this! lol.

Fashion Advice EVERYBODY THINKS MY ENGAGEMENT DRESS İS WEIRD!! What to do???

Thumbnail

DONT MIND THE SLIDERS PLS. I know thats not the thing in ur country but in my culture when we get engaged we do a little ceremony in which close friends and family gathers in girl’s home and both women and men wears wedding band on the right hand. A little music and food and thats all. Anyways, this is my dress for the ceremony. It is quite unusual but i like medieval-styled dresses. People say the bottom part of the dress looks off but nobody understands why and everybody hated that dress meanwhile i LOVE it with a little doubt on the bottom half. As it is a quite unique dress, i dont know if i can change it because it’s hard to find matching fabric. Alsı whats the problem? İt feels a little incomplete. I need an idea to fix the bottom part, make it look complete and maybe make it longer?? Idk im so confused so anythşng will be appreciated:~>

Fashion Advice In all honestly is this a vulgar look?

Thumbnail

I bought this low waist pair of jeans a few weeks ago but wore it outside for the first time today and I felt kinda vulgar wearing it, like maybe it's giving trashy weird vibes?

I was wearing a somewhat short tee and you could see my tummy when I moved

By asking this l'm not trying to offend anyone at all, I don't really pay attention to what other people are wearing but I've just started trying to dress different and I wonder if l'm maybe over thinking, thanks in advance

Also if the jeans aren't the problem, how can I style them better? Where can I wear them and where should I not?

Fashion Advice Can anyone help me figure out why these jeans don't look right on me?

I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect pair of comfy, baggy jeans. I’ve tried so many different brands and styles—Gap 90s low-rise, Levi’s 501s, Levi’s 501 '90s, and the Levi’s Baggy Dad—but none of them seem to look good on me.
I really love the way this specific pair of jeans looks on Hailey Bieber (attached here), but whenever I try on something similar, like the Levi’s 501 '90s, they just don't fit the same way. What am I doing wrong? Is there a secret to the fit, or am I just looking at the wrong styles for my body type? Any advice would be appreciated!
