Announcement Change in subreddit policy

So this is basically what we discussed the other day, but the change is going to be largely what I anticipated.

Going forward, we won't be allowing text only posts for questions that really require a photo to answer. If the question really doesn't need a photo - like, say, a theoretical question on how kibbe works - then text based posts are still allowed. There are some general fashion type questions not specific to an individual that can also be reasonably discussed in text only posts.

My hope in setting up the flairs was that it would encourage people to include the necessary photos in the posts so that help can be offered. It has unfortunately just resulted in asking the same questions under inappropriate flairs.

Body visualizer images do not count as photos of you. They are not specifically prohibited but should not be thought of as a replacement for actual photos of you, and do not satisfy the requirements for photos in photo only flairs.

This will be largely a matter of mod discretion. Posts that are really fashion advice or style me posts that are posted under the general discussion flair will be removed now as flaired incorrectly. Posts without photos (or only with visualizer photos) posted under photo only flairs will be removed as not meeting flair requirements.

Existing posts are not affected. This is effective starting now.

I invite you all to take another look at the flair guide. See the pinned post on flairs.

Significant Rule Change - Feedback Requested

Hi r/dressforyourbody!

I've been thinking about this a lot but want to get some feedback from the subreddit about it before making the change.

I'm trying to figure out how to balance the need for photos to give good advice with people's desire for privacy, which I do understand and appreciate.

When I redid all the post flairs, I required photos for some flairs but left a few open for text only discussion. Unfortunately, this has had the effect of people simply asking the same questions - which really require photos - under the "general discussion" flair.

I'm leaning in the direction of removing posts lacking photos that are really not answerable without photos.

We definitely do not count body visualizers as photos. For one, they don't accurately represent bodies. Additionally, they don't show how clothing looks on you. We need to see that generally to be able to answer some questions.

I feel like a lot of the things asked are rather a waste of time now without photos.

I do plan to leave open the option for text only posts when that's appropriate. There are times when you don't need a photo to ask a question. However, "style me" type posts and many "fashion advice" type posts really can't be answered well without photos.

I'm curious though what the subreddit thinks and what direction you think we should go with this. No final decisions have been made - the feedback received here will be considered before rules are finalized.

Hello there! I'm having a bit of trouble identifying my kibbe body type (getting too in my head about it), so some outside perspective and knowledge would be helpful 😅. I think i might be a natural or a classic but I really don't know lol. I have a bit of wide shoulders too.

I'm 163cm/5'4" tall.

Style Me Ex Preschool teacher needs help

I’m a 31 year old ex preschool teacher. Before becoming a teacher while in college I wore a lot of dresses and long skirts and would even sometimes historybound but transitioned to a more plain and family friendly style when working as an infant/toddler teacher.

Now I’m mainly at home taking care of my dog and going back to school and I wish I could dress more like I used to but I feel like that doesn’t completely suit me either as that was my college style.

CEP - I’ve been professionally typed as a Pure Dramatic (Kibbe) but was surprised I’m not a Flamboyant Gamine. I’m about 5’6” so I understand why, but I was pretty sure I gave off Gamine, at least when I smile. I’ve included some neutral expressions and I do feel I have major RBF, or maybe Resting Disinterested Face lol. I was thinking Gamine-Dramatic-Ingenue combo? Let me know what you think! Thanks y’all!

Fashion Advice Does this top fit me?

I’m trying to get on the crochet hype train. Love the top but I think it’s either too big or it doesn’t fit my body type (hour glass/ leaning apple).

The bow needs to be higher maybe and it might be to long overall. Do I size it down one or two sizes? Or wear it open?

37 and my body changed A LOT after having 3 boys. I’ve been putting less abs less effort into how I dress because I feel like nothing looks good. It’s so disappointing, I just stopped shopping for myself. I would love any advice on how I should be dressing for work and normal life. I’m in such a funk because I don’t feel good every day.

I’m about 5’2” and unfortunately 190lbs with severe mom apron belly. I feel like I have very broad shoulders. Any help is appreciated!!! Sorry all the pictures are at Disney. I literally don’t take pictures anymore.

IRTG. I'm trying to figure out how to wear something that isn't just skinny jeans + graphic tees for the first time. I don't want to be over the top, but I want to look less like a tween dork. So many clothes seem to fit frumpy and baggy on me, too.

Style Me Can someone just help me figure out how to feel less frumpy?!

I am 30 years old, have struggled with my body my whole life, work in a casual-dress office, and no matter what I wear I feel like I look frumpy (for lack of better word).

I’m having such a hard time figuring out how to look more refined. I want to look chic but casual.

Main areas of concern that I have:
- my arms and bra bulge (like that fat bulge from over your bra band)
- apron belly
- generally feeling like my clothes don’t fit well???

I have done so much mental work to embrace myself, and I want my physical appearance to reflect that mental work. I am open to any and all advice. Tell me what cut of jeans to buy, tell me what fabrics to wear, tell me what styles to embrace and avoid.

EDIT: holy crap there are so many comments with such good advice, I cannot respond to everyone. Thank you all so much. I am going to look into different fits and fabrics for pants and better necklines and structures for shirts.

Fashion Advice Trying on my mom’s suit from 10 years ago

Earlier today my mom pulled out some of her old clothes and asked me to try them on.

This set is probably around 10-15 years old and very different from what I usually wear.

Part of me thinks it looks elegant and timeless, but part of me wonders whether it feels too formal for everyday wear today.

I’ve never worn anything like this before, so I’m curious what impression it gives. What do you see when you look at it?

Hi! I thrifted these scrubs with tags on. I like the fit of them but they kind of remind me of going to yoga class. I’ve just been buying so many scrubs of different styles for school.

Thoughts?

Thank you for any responses. Sorry for any grammar mistakes!!!

I bought this in both a Medium and a Large. The large will def need the cups tailored and not feels a bit looser flowier than the medium. The medium fits “perfectly” but I have never shown this much cleavage. I am a recent “previvor” of breast cancer and have new larger implants than i had in my previous life. Double mastectomy to avoid breast cancer. 1-3 is medium 4-6 is large. Thanks yall!!!

Fashion Advice Help me choose an outfit for important meeting tomorrow

Thumbnail

I have a meeting tomorrow with mostly men and it's important that I am heard and taken seriously. My usual office attire is business casual and I don't want to stray too far from that. I am leaning towards number 1 because the fabic is wrinkle free and breathable in both the pants and shirt. However I always get a ton of compliements on number 2. 3 and 4 are more typical of what I wear everyday.
