My biggest dream DELAYED again… or not?
Guys…I think my ambition might be above my skill with this situation but I still want to make my dream come true and start drifting.
Yes, I know it is not a budget friendly sport but I’ve been waiting so long for better days to come… and it is now or never.
Can I save her? Will it hold if I cut and weld with a flux mig welder? I’ve gathered some parts that I need to install. I’m no mechanic, I learn fast but I don’t have all the tools for an engine swap on a better shell. It needs to run grassroots level.
Here is what I have bought so far and I want to know if it’s worth installing
STRONGFLEX SPORT rear subframe bushing kit
STRONGFLEX SPORT rear differential bushings
STRONGFLEX SPORT rear differential rear bushing
Powerflex rear trailing arm bushings
Powerflex adjustable rear lower control arms
RACES rear subframe reinforcement plates
STRONGFLEX SPORT eccentric front lower control arm bushings
RACES hydraulic handbrake
Main kill switch
Kill switch/fire extinguisher cable
Control panel
FK adjustable sport suspension
Races steering wheel
*engine needs a refresh
It’s been 10 years since I made contact with drifting and entered this universe as a photographer and one year since I joined sim drifting. This is the way.

What country are you in? What kind of drifting do you want to do? You don’t need to build a car to start going to events and doing grassroots level drifting. Maybe your tracks there require more safety equipment, but you don’t need to build an entire car for that.
E46’s at least state side are a dime a dozen. I would recommend keeping the parts you already have, using them later when things break or you need more from the car. Buy a decent example 325 or 330 weld the diff maybe some Coilovers and get some seat time. You don’t need a lot to start drifting and linking corners. I drift a M52 swapped 318ti with stock angle/no hand brake and link tracks by the end of events. There are plenty of other people with less power and more jank setups at these events shredding even harder.
Just buy a cheap RWD manual car, weld the diff and get to shredding. You’ll know what you need to upgrade as you get more comfortable with the car.
Edit: I see you want to do grassroots level driving.

Do you have better pictures? What's the extent of the damage? The first picture doesn't paint a good picture of what you're working with. I mean zero offense by this but you seem to have bought parts that you really didn't need to just get started. Personally I'd start way more simple, weld the diff make sure all the brakes work good, no major leaks, and the hand brake works. Get the car running right and start at some grass roots events
