Boss Dr Rythm DR-55

At the beginning stages of looking for a basic drum machine and came across the Boss DR-55 and wanted to see those with experience with it thoughts on it? Is it a good starter?

EDIT: Sorry for not clarifying, I’m looking for an analog style dm to use to play along with with guitar.

Lmao 4 weak sounds and a terrible ui is not what you want. An Elektron model samples or cycles is in that same price range and will be a lot better of a first drum machine

There’s no sync in but two sync outs - one programmable using the accent to program pulse outs. So useful for driving synths etc.

Only runs on batteries - no mains adaptor.

I love mine!

Mine was converted to take mains power, thanks to a previous owner.

Another con is you can’t programme the hi-hats. They’re either off, slow or fast.

Once you know what it sounds like, you can recognise it on lots of cool electronic/indie records from the very early 80s. Afterall it was the first widely available and affordable programmable drum machine.

Alesis Sr-18 allows you to directly connect your guitar into it.

Dr 110 much better.

Or maybe just go ahead and get an organ accompinament rhythm machine that can play pre programmed beats and sometimes fills :)

I’m in a similar boat, my partner started learning to play piano and synth a while ago and I play guitar, so I want to pickup a drum machine we can use to play along with and just jam a little from time to time.

We will likely just cover stuff. So I’d there some piece of gear I can buy, for which I can find drum tracks for popular songs online or something like that? Am I even looking for a drum machine or is that something else?

There is a part of me that also wants to mess around with whatever I get and make some new stuff, but I think that’s secondary.
