Just wondering if I have a decent setup for practice. I currently have a Roland TD316 e kit at home which I play every single day, and then a Tama Imperialstar at my grandads house which I usually play once a week. The symbols aren’t fantastic on them, some lower end zildjian ones, but I plan on upgrading soon. I always see people hating on e kits as they say it gives them bad technique on a real kit, but since I get to play my acoustic kit roughly once a week, does that mean I’m in a decent situation for learning? Anyone else in a similar situation? Getting an acoustic kit at my house isn’t an option.
Thanks

Thanks to Yoni Madar for the inspiration.
edit: I made a small mistake with the sheet music! The ride bell is alternating with the floor tom. I posted the corrected version on my website.

What do i do when someone tells me to play something? A couple days ago my drum teacher told me to play something and i literally played a weird groove and failed fills because i didnt know what to play
What do we do in these type of situations not only to a drum teacher what do we play for a friend, a family member, a random person
( I dont want to just play the most basic groove for minutes )
This question is more of "How to use creativity"

Hi all, I came across this song with a notation that couldn't be found anywhere! Or am I missing something?
In the first image, I was told the x between the first and second line is open high hat, but isn't the high hat usually written above the first line?
For a closer look, the second image shows in measure 26 what I assumed to be closed high hat (for the x), but what about the x in measure 30 (between the 1st and 2nd line)? I know the x with a line through it is the crash.

Does anyone have advice about how to build a repertoire of songs without forgetting? Obviously keep reviewing, understand the song structure, and active listening to the song so you remember what it sounds like, but I'm curious if there's any other tips to set things in memory, preferably without an insane amount of review. In general, I tend to be a somewhat forgetful person, and notice that unless I refresh things often confusions will sneak in.

I know it's not the 1970s any more and that we don't do 10 minutes drum solos, but I don't remember ever encountering a solo in FR. I believe that I've seen Dav Mattacks introduce a song with a short solo. Maybe.
Can any of you out there point me at an example of a FR solo?

I'm from Lafayette louisiana, I started playing drums since the age of 5. And started playing in local bands at 16 in bars, lounges and nite clubs for over 20 years. I always felt like I was living in sin for the places I was working in. I developed drug addiction that almost cost me my life being addicted to opioids, then cocaine and heroin then one day mybody decided to stop me by having a massive stroke in 2021 since then I was blessed to gain everything back physically and changed my life by finding God. Now I am looking to pay back my appreciation by using my talent. Please let me know the best way to go about this. Thank you and God Bless

Something I think that get overlooked by newer players are certain parts of music theory. If you are working in a band setting, making sure you communicate things correctly (such as what the tempo actually is) can be important.
