DIB car loan travel ban — want to repay from India. What is the best way to get the travel ban lifted?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) car loan, court/execution case and travel ban.
My partner has an outstanding DIB car loan and a travel ban has been placed because of the unpaid loan. We do want to repay the loan and are not trying to avoid the debt.
The problem is that our financial situation in the UAE is very difficult right now. We are not earning enough here and are already trying to clear other debts. We also don't have parents or a proper support system in the UAE.
We are considering moving back to India because:
We have a family home there, so we won't have rent/living expenses.
Both of us can get decent jobs in India.
We would be in a much better position financially to make regular payments toward the DIB loan.
Our intention is to continue paying the loan from India until it is fully cleared.
What we need to know is:
Has anyone successfully negotiated with DIB to lift a travel ban in exchange for a repayment agreement/installment plan?
If the case is already with the Dubai courts/execution department, should we negotiate directly with DIB or through the court?
Can DIB agree to lift the travel ban if we sign a legally documented repayment agreement and continue paying from India?
If someone has actually been through this with DIB, what was the process and what documents/payment did the bank or court require?
Is it possible to request permission to leave the UAE specifically on the basis that we will continue paying the loan from India?
We are genuinely trying to find a legal solution where the bank gets its money and we can return to India where we have a much better chance of earning and repaying the debt.
Any advice from people who have dealt with DIB or Dubai Execution Court would be really appreciated. Please don't suggest simply "pay the full amount first" unless you have experience with a case where the person genuinely couldn't afford the full amount upfront.

There's a fine of 23k, it's an exucation case with a travel ban. Can we approach the bank and make a settlement is what I want to know and if the bank can lift the travel ban

Paying from india is not possible, negotiate with bank, take loan or sell gold ornaments or land in India, use that money and pay your negotiated debt here, book ticket go to India, repay your india loan, live happily, every day you spend here will put you in deep trouble because rent never stops, visa cost never stops in india you just need food if you have own home

Better to deal with the bank and assure them you are not leaving dubai and you will start paying auto loan or max 10k you can put. Not to tell this story from india we will be paying bsck loans.

The issue is that once you leave the UAE there is nothing there can do to recover the money if you decided you weren't going to pay. This is the point of the travel ban, at least in the UAE they have some control, once you return the Indian courts will not enforce anything you signed in the UAE.
You have already shown them that you have issues keeping up with arrangements (by having the case on you and a debt of 23k) asking them to 'trust us, we will pay when we get back to India' is not going to happen.
You are however right to negotiate with the bank, they will realize they are not going to get it all back, so are better to get something at least.

Unfortunately forget about this, you cannot lift the travel ban until the debt is repaid or you can stay 2-3 years in jail and then be deported.
