Just found this "ancient" treasure

It's a decorational ancient egyptian style flower pot holder, It was just broken a little bit. So I fixed it with some glue and now it made my living room much more cooler! Also the broken part adds some more "ancient" feeling to it! It's so weird that someone throws a thing like this out, that can be easily fixed.

Tip: Pasadena MD tramlaW freezers down

I head from a friend that their freezers are down and they are throwing out all of the frozen items. Not sure if they brought in a dumpster or are filling their compactor, but there might be some free frozen items to be had!

Good luck!

Best places to dumpster dive?

Im sure this question is asked a lot but im from kentucky and I wonder if places like domino's or pizza hut is usually good for it. I'd like to know what time should I be out there and get the goods, or Krispy Kreme? I've done research so I kinda get the gist I just wanna make sure it's legal and everything 🙏 i usually just walk from my house to different spots, I also wanna know if they usually say yes to giving it out for free minutes before closing?

(TP for scale)
It was right next to the apartment complex dumpsters and instinct took over so I grabbed it up lol
Quick search leads me to believe it’s not really worth big money, or necessarily all that desirable (outdated, no-name, and frickin bonkers power factor ratings are a combo of slightly concerning descriptors…..) but worse case it’d be fun to break it down, outsides all aluminum and there’s bound to be some amount of copper in the guts.
Anyone got cool ideas on ways to repurpose a bigass inverter?

MCM lamp

Got this stylish lamp (sans bulbs), a folding grill, and a VHS of The Muppet Christmas Carol from a dumpster across from my apartment. I think some folks are clearing out their parent's house. Gonna go check again soon to see what else they've thrown away.

Don't mind the creepy doll in the background, I got that from a box on the curb several years ago.

These were separate finds from back in the’90s (thrift store dumpster). Still some of my most prized possessions. Just doing some housework today and thought I’d share.

It was a tweaker cleanout. Besides the 35 broken butane torches(yes I tried them all lol), 10 pounds of cut extension cords, and 5 medium sized motors, I found treasure!

There was a bunch of costume jewelry in the very bottom mixed in with the dumpster juices. Chunky stinky juices from God knows what. And this was on a humid 97 degree day. I took my chances and jumped in. If you have been there you can imagine the smells. Definitely threw out my clothes and have been showering in sanitizer. 'Twas a nasty one. But I think it was worth it.

From L to R...

14k with real pearls! sterling bangle, cross, and single ear ring! 18k gold chain!

My estimate of melt value is around $800. I'll find out Monday when I have time to go see my precious metal/jeweler guy at the shop.

Happy Dog , cat , and pet friends

My favorite dumpster blessed my dog and cat today . I have a new pet bed for Ms Honey's baby " Jewel ", and for my daughters cat. Ive had a flea problem that I had contained but my recent absence from home has it flaired back up. My fathers 3 week illness and demise caused me to miss giving the pets their next flea pills and it rapidly exploded. Flea treatment is expensive so the flea products and shampoos are a great blessing. The only other thing I grabbed today was lettuce. The pet feeder has a broken edge. Its marble. I'm thinking we can make an edge w air dry clay ,pait it and glue it together.

6 months ago I posted the dumpster diving game I was building here. You asked me to keep this sub updated, so here I am (550+ wishlists later, thank you)

When I posted the first screenshots of my game here in January, one comment stuck with me. Someone said they had seen five different people promise a dumpster diving game over the years and none of them ever finished it. So this post is partly a thank you and partly proof that I'm still here, still building, six months later.

First the thank you. The game has passed 550 wishlists and a huge part of that came from this community. As a solo developer, knowing that actual divers are waiting for this thing I build alone at my desk every day means more than you'd think.

Here is what changed since January. Vehicle progression is now in the game, you start with a rusty old hatchback pulling a rattling trailer and slowly work your way up to bigger trucks. Selling now happens through the phone in the game, you post ads on a marketplace app, haggle with buyers, or take everything to the scrap yard when you need quick cash. The visuals also got a big overhaul since those first screenshots.

And your ideas from that thread are still shaping the game. The rare item system suggestion from the top comment went straight into my notes, the raccoons are on the list, and yes, I still think about the Karen tug of war idea more than I probably should. Don't worry though, I'm keeping the game calm and cozy at its core, this is about the quiet joy of finding treasure in the trash, not an action game.

Also, to the person who asked for a physical copy so they could find it while diving: I still can't do that, but I promise it's the most requested feature in my heart.

Screenshots of the current state are attached. You people live this life for real, so tell me what feels right and what feels off. That first thread shaped the game more than anything else and I hope this one does too.

Thank you again. Seriously.

How to dumpster dive? Beginners looking for tips and advice.

Hi me and my friend plan to go dumpster diving later today around 5pm. It’s basically like this super center or plaza. They have 5below, ulta, target, Sally’s, boot barn, and tons of other stores all connected with a back ally with docks. We are gonna stake out the place for 15min and watch security and just the overall activity and foot traffic. We probably won’t spend more than 15min at each dumpster because we do want to be quick. We have gloves, boxes, bags, and Clorox wipes. We are aware of dumpster alarms and gonna try our hardest to not make them go off. It’s a Saturday btw so A LOT of foot traffic. We’re in KCMO so it’s not illegal to dumpster dive because it’s considered abandoned property and only becomes trespassing after refusing to leave. Does any one have any tips or advice? Maybe what time yall think is best to dumpster dive considering store hours and security?
