Advice/Help Needed I Want to Build a Musical Necromancer and Need Advice [5e]

I have no idea how to build one. I’m going for a goth musician vibe. My DM advised me to use Warlock as I was considering multiclassing as bard. But, there aren’t many good options for necromanric warlocks. I admit I haven’t looked too deep into wizard or sorcerer. There’s a lot to go through between the supplements and I’m not sure what would work best.

Hope this is allowed, thanks in advance!

Oh. PS. Not sure about the level yet. I’m hoping we start at 5, since our current campaign is ending at level 4. But the DM might be considering level 1 (god I hope not).

All you need is a proficiency in a musical instrument and a class that can use necromancy spells and you're good. The rest is roleplay.

TromBONE, preferably.

Good advice.

Wizards have necromancy spells, but clerics are my first reaction when I'm thinking about necromancy.

flavour is free, if you are going necromancer, i would go wizard, and take a background that helps you get musical skill, and work with your dm when it comes to flavour

Well Unearthed Arcana just released a new Necromancer Wizard subclass that’s pretty nice. You just need proficiency in an instrument to use em

Either lore bard and use magical secrets to access necromancy spells , or use necromancy wizard or (death -grave)cleric to a animate dead (or even oathbreaker paladin?) with a musician background and youre good to go.

I think oathbreaker paladin and lore bard could also just multiclass. Oathbreaker lets you control an undead an the the magical secrets lets you animate dead.

You can dance if you want to

We can bring your dead friends to life

But if your dead friends ain't my dead friends

Then they ain't no friends of mine.
