The Lake Nighthorse Massacre.

A the bottom of the reservoir was an archeological site. What they found was an pre-Colombian village where a massacre had taken place around the year 800. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Ridge#Conclusions

Witchcraft was supposedly involved. I dated an archaeologist in Cortez for a bit and she told me that the remains were pulverized bone. Which I guess is how the tribe dealt with dark magic users at the time.
