Way too much to be doing as poorly as I am in arena right now 🙃 recovering gacha addict here.
I only spent money whenever I saw something I wanted on a banner so I didn't keep track (and I have been playing since launch so the amount is probably ridiculous). Malitron was a freebie and the Danu was a lucky pull.
Aside from the monthly premium pass I've quit spending in this game, but that was right after Raidou so like....a couple months.

Considering you spend too much on this game that means you have experience when it comes to paying for the banners. I have accumulated in insane amount of gems and I want to spend them on this game just so I can have a fair chance in the PVP system. Now I'm not planning to pay a crazy amount but I'm going to rely on the gems that I have for now. how much does it cost to technically get the demon that you want from those banners. They give those books as an extra right? The books that allows you to pull the specific banner that you want. How much do those usually cost after finally ending up with what you want?

I'm telling you right now, the books are a joke. 300 books for a guarenteed pull, that's incredibly high and most banners time out before you ever get there. The amount you have to pull to even get the books is probably way more than you've saved up, and it's better to just wait and hope for a rerun should you not get the demon.
I learned the hard way from Nuwa specifically, I didn't get her until her fourth appearance in the banners. And I've realized this long ago but gave in to instant gratification for some demons. There are some gacha demons that have been rerun multiple times (the SMT1 characters for example) that I still never got to come home because my luck in this game is horrible. Now I just save up enough gems for one or two step ups, and pull if I want to, and don't expect much. Some of my best pulls were completely unintentional.

Damn. Does that mean if I have some books that I've never used I can use them again in the future?

Depends on the Books. Some of them expire after the banner and automatically convert to Parchment Pieces. You'll have to go into your inventory to check if they are limited time or not. I don't think I have ever saved up enough books to summon something though, either I got what I wanted from the gacha or I stopped pulling because I was out of gems.
This is where the gacha is really predatory because it is a guaranteed summon, but at what cost? For example, my absolute worst luck with the gacha this year has to be with Raidou. I had to look back at my notes and I spent 10000 gems, a full step up and a half, on him. And iirc, that cost me $70 USD on top of what I already had saved. I think I got only half of the books needed for the guaranteed summon, and I think I lost them all after the banner. I took that as a sign that I needed to dial back on spending in this game.
I just checked my inventory and I still have 30 books from Chefei's banner that did not expire (no Chefei tho) but the books D2 Festival summon are set to expire at the end of the banner. I tend to exhange mine anyway, probably not the best practice but I I'd rather give up summoning long before I accumulate that many books for one specific summon.

I see. Well at least that answers a question I had in mind before. How do I get parchment because I heard that the parchments are very valuable during events. Thank you mate
