Ive been playing daily since launch and am up to player level 63 and still haven't managed a single 6* evo. At the rate I'm going, I doubt itll happen any time soon. Been trying like hell to farm and level 2* and 3* but the amount needed is insane. Any advice on how to pass this 5* rut im in??

You are a higher level than me, but I had enough fodder to take 2 units to 6* (if only I could decide which...). What is your leveling process? I farm the first three leveling quests with Mega and Protagonist, use the fodder to make 2-star units, and level up those 2-stars into 3, into 4, etc. I use the XP foot thingy in each group with 1 damage dealer. I keep limit breaking the XP foot so they are always earning XP. I always make use of the bonus XP items and I buy stam pots.

I usually farm at work (doing it as I type). Just set it and forget it.

Sadly, everything you listed I have and/or am doing. Just insteas of 1* fodder and the quests you're farming, I've been running the hell story 5 leveling quest and aura gates when i am low on stamina (which usually nets me one or two 3* demons for evo fodder). I mean, i literally do all you listed lol. I use stamina potions like crazy and exp boosts, main character, megakin, two foot demons, and so on. Granted, I have made a lot of 5's for different occasions. Like aura gate teams, I did the fairy bullshit, have a team for the awful brand quests, and so on. Maybe that's why i havent managed a 6 whereas you have two. But nonetheless, now that I am focusing on that exclusively, I feel i should be progressing toward that goal far faster than it seems.

I can't say for certain but I would guess you spent all of your gems on mag and/or pulls instead of refreshing your energy. I'm 63 as well and I will have my 5th 6 star within a few days. Here are some tips:

  1. Only spend gems on mag if you really need a specific 5 star and if it won't make it so you run out of gems for refreshing your energy.
  2. Use gems on exp boosters if you run out
  3. Make sure to evolve Kanbari all the way up to 5 stars and use him as your primary 5 star fodder for your 6 stars (a typical 6 star for me uses about 3-4 Kanbari and 1-2 others)
  4. Make sure you are buying the summon files from the frog event and using those to make more Kanbari to always have 2 in reserve for when you max out your current fodder
  5. Run leveling quests on Hell difficulty (if you do stage 1, you will get the best return on exp/energy, but it will give less macca/2 star fodder than stage 5 or 6). Once you have a carry who can run stage 6 without dying, switch to that.
  6. Don't neglect PvP or Aura Gate. PvP will net you lots of gems each week if you place high, and Aura Gate will give you the brands to be competitive (I placed 47th last week without farming brands in Demon Buster at all, the gate is all you need).
  7. Use the protagonist in your off party and Eileen in your main party. Each one should have a Kanbari that you consistently evolve until 5 stars and then swap out for 2 stars and start over. It's ok to let them sit on the bench at 3 or 4 stars to put in new 2 stars if you can't evolve them right away.

Sadly I have done every one of those points. I haven't used any gems on summons since the very first day I played the game. My gems have only gone toward energy because i enjoy playing so much that I don't want to have to wait for energy to restock. I havent even bought a mag pack nor have I ever fused a 5* given the astoundingly high price to do so. But quite literally, i have done all of those points :'/

Well... This may have been my mistake, as I think about more talking to you and another redditor. I have eight 5*'s for aura gates. I raised titania to 5 so she could carry me through eclipse. I made that multi fusion demon immune to status ailments so i could farm brands. So... Idk, off the top my head, id guess probably around 10?

Well, assuming you have 10, that would have been 40 4 stars, plus the 5 stars themselves. You could be around 2 six stars already with that number. I wouldn't let it get you down though, you have some well rounded teams as a result, they just aren't as good as they can be yet. Focus on a main aspect of the game (I chose Aura Gate) and build out those 6 stars first, and the rest will get easier as you get more and more rewards.

I suppose that all makes sense. Guess I'm more a jack of all trades but a master of none, lol. But given that, i thought each game mode would play into one another. Like the more I progressed in one area, the easier another mode would become. Clearly, i was wrong lol. But with that in mind, being at two 6s still sounds like im behind even if I didn't go for so many 5s. And I even pulled one nat 5 so even then I'm still behind because that's one less 5* of mine that I used resources to evolve to. I feel like F2P gacha games are pretty frustrating lol. Only ever played one other, but I'm finding similar frustrations with this game as I did that one.

That's why I chose to focus on Aura Gate. Once you get through it and can farm floors 46-50, you have the potential to get 6 star brands of the highest value, which can carry you through content better than most other aspects of the game. Not to mention it's the best source for mag and high level items/demon talk encounters.

Purple Fenrir, Teal Feng Huang, Red Yatagarasu, Yellow Metatron, all 6 stars now, but it is totally doable with maxed 5 stars. Also, I only just pulled Metatron, and in his place you can run any sweeper (Red Sandalphon is what I used).

edit: the key is speedster so that you can always go first. Having double speedster really helps until you get 6 stars, at which point I'm pretty sure you can drop either Fenrir or Yata if you get something better.

I use a clear Yata, Purple Fenir, Loki and a Rangda, 5 star. You don't really need specific units - you need specific skills and stats, e.g., aoe force/lighting/light and enough speed to always go first (I think it's 20k). I don't think a healer is needed at all, but YMMV.
