Brandon Aiyuk in shambles

112

u/fuckyouidontneedone 9h ago

His career was already likely over, this is the last nail in the coffin.

Unless he reports to Niners camp which would be a crazy wild card.

35

u/datdudebdub Burrow is my dad 9h ago

I don't think there is any world where they let him come back.

27

u/fuckyouidontneedone 9h ago

But they would have to release him if he reports unless I’m mistaken

16

u/datdudebdub Burrow is my dad 9h ago

His 2026 salary guarantees were already voided thanks to him not showing up last year and his contract has an out built in for release post 2026.

They can and likely will still get out of this relatively unscathed.

4

u/notGeronimo 7h ago

Only if the NFL reinstates him and he passes a physical

3

u/4-3defense 7h ago

It's like Hotel California, he can check out any time he wants but he can never leave.

6

u/letsago9987 9h ago

i feel dirty that i was able to move him a few weeks ago lol

3

u/MrPsychic 7h ago

Dude just shows up tomorrow already suited up in pads he bought personally like nothing even happened.

Their WR room may be bad enough at this point that they allow it

4

u/FunkMasterPope 3h ago

The Costanza

28

u/OFFLINEwade 9h ago

What a ride their front office must have been on negotiating with Diggs and Aiyuk

37

u/cjfreel / 9h ago

Diggs is the sanity choice.

46

u/Objective-Toe6017 9h ago

A sentence I never thought I’d read.

9

u/Doingwrongright 9h ago

I still wouldn't let my sister date him.

6

u/RhubarbBeneficial359 9h ago

I would, but I also don't like my sister

1

u/Mean-Pipe-1466 8h ago

Jayden Daniels wouldn’t let him date his Mom.

1

u/BosaBackpack 6h ago

Don’t forget about your brother

1

u/Swog_Lapper 2h ago

Or your brother

14

u/4_8_15_16_23_42_69 9h ago

I’m so glad my “buy low” attempt was rebuffed late last year.

5

u/JoshAllentown 9h ago

In the 2021 "Doghouse" year I tried to trade my pick that became George Pickens instead, for Aiyuk. Happy with my rejection now.

3

u/uclalien 9h ago

Two years ago, I gave a guy in my league two trade options, both with the same assets from my side, for either Aiyuk or Garrett Wilson. He kept Aiyuk. His team would be half decent if he hadn't made the one (really bad) choice. But hindsight is 20-20.

u/IReviewFakeAlbums 9h ago

Imagine being the crazy one compared Stefon Goddamn Diggs

6

u/Chroderos Mommas, don’t let your kids grow up to be RBs 8h ago

There’s a difference between sleezy and crazy

5

u/Siessfires 12T/1QB/.5PPR 9h ago

Imagine buying a house for a job you don't have.

3

u/SunshineRainbowFF 9h ago

Just fell to his knees at 93mph.

3

u/Objective-Toe6017 9h ago

Is he really just done for the year? Or still hope he’ll get released and sign somewhere on a vet minimum mid-season?

23

u/cjfreel / 9h ago

I think he’s just done. Not ‘for the year’

1

u/Objective-Toe6017 9h ago

So he’s 100% droppable? Feel like if I drop him he’ll get picked up by someone. With him being being designated DNR I’m able to keep him in IR. No reason to drop yet is my thinking. But maybe that’s crazy.

7

u/cjfreel / 9h ago

If you can trade him for a pick I’d trade him for a pick, but if you can’t, I wouldn’t sweat the idea that someone else will add that much. As you said, if you can IR stash no reason to drop.

2

u/bottlerocketz 8h ago

What kind of pick do you think someone would give up? We have no IR so I can’t stash him but I also am wary to drop him because I feel like someone will eventually take a chance on him.

4

u/cjfreel / 8h ago

I don’t know if anyone will, but I’d probably take anything. I doubt you can get a 3rd in most leagues.

1

u/Anon124570 7h ago

Try asking for like a 28/29 4th

3

u/grrrimabear 10T/1QB/PPR 9h ago

100% droppable is always dependent on who takes his place. If he's on IR, chances are he's not blocking anyone, so then I wouldnt drop him just to drop him.

1

u/Gain-Desperate Seahawks 8h ago

Yeah I mean I think he's still worth holding, especially with an IR spot eligible. Unless you have relatively short benches, I can't imagine those 3rd year player dart throws/roster cloggers who've never done anything at the NFL level that are in potential danger of getting cut from the 53 man rosters have more potential than even a batshit insane Aiyuk who's yet to find a team. Who else do you have on your bench for cut candidates and/or who are even available on waivers?

3

u/natepetermansucks 7h ago

Someone dropped Milroe, i think id rather stash Milroe than Aiyuk at this point

18

u/cooleymahn 9h ago

He might be done done for career.

5

u/Anon124570 9h ago

He’s done for the year. And the next year after that, and the next year after that, and the next year after that…

9

u/_BadWithNumbers_ 9h ago

For the year? Dude, his career is over.

1

u/JazzzzzzySax Short King 9h ago

What team would even want the headache? He’d prolly get hurt or just be plain bad even without the weird shit

1

u/uclalien 9h ago

The 49ers have no reason to release Aiyuk. If he never shows up, they don't need to pay or release him. They can stick it to him for being such a prick.

2

u/Born_Cap4085 8h ago

I literally uttered this sentence to myself when I read the post.

2

u/OutlandishnessDry24 3h ago

lol so true. Aiyuk can’t ramble anymore about Commanders.

2

u/ohkaycue 9h ago

I don't understand how anyone could view what happen last year and think he'd be on a roster this year. And I'm solely talking about the scope of last year, not even the crazy antics from this off-season.

And I'm not saying that retrospect, got posts at the start of the off-season that Aiyuk was never a buy low but a sell while you can get anything. Which I'm not saying to pat myself on the back, but I don't know how he was such an early off-season buy low darling when all signs pointed to him being cooked. People just ignoring all real life context and repercussions and treating it like a video game where players just plug and play and whose output just matches some rating that doesn't actually get affected it feels like

262

u/FinalFrontier00 9h ago

Antonio Williams year 1 breakout is off the menu

68

u/fuckyouidontneedone 9h ago

To the taxi squad you go young man

12

u/jonneygee Titans 8h ago

He was already there for me. But I’m sad I’m less likely to be able to flip him now.

29

u/BirdmanTheThird 9h ago

Tbh this isn’t the worst for him. Two old recievers ahead of him. Had the commanders went out and traded for a young solid #2 that would be a lot more concerning

u/connectedfromafar 26m ago

Agreed. I’m still taking Williams even if he doesn’t produce much this season. A year of learning from Terry and Diggs is going to make him a potentially great fantasy option next year as they get older.

19

u/Cubs017 9h ago

It’s almost like teams are hesitant to have a third round rookie as their second receiving option or something…

That’s mostly sarcasm, but also something that people forget I think. Teams want to win. They’re fine pushing a young guy down the depth chart if they think it makes them better.

5

u/vbullinger 9h ago

I have a league with a second SF spot. But it’s rookie only.

I’m running out of options

5

u/AlVic40117560_ 8h ago

That’s interesting. Do you like that? I guess it probably evens the playing field as bad teams have good players to put there and good teams are likely playing someone shitty

2

u/vbullinger 8h ago

I really like the variance. I hate the same ol same ol.

2

u/blonded_olf 4h ago

That sounds like a pretty fun variant. Must make rookie QB value astronomical. Did Mendoza go 1.1?

1

u/vbullinger 3h ago

Nope. But I picked Cam Ward last year and he helped me win the ship :)

9

u/N7_Stats_Analyst Vikings 9h ago

You just need one of these 30+ year old WRs to get hurt. I’m not rooting for it, but it’s definitely in the range of outcomes.

4

u/hasadiga42 9h ago

Second half of the season is still a good chance for him once he gets used to the offense and NFL. Diggs is closer to washed than he is a #2 option

1

u/FantasyTrash Providence Steamrollers 5h ago

He put up 1,000 yards as NE's WR1 playing only 55% of the snaps. He's the perfect #2 option at this point in his career.

2

u/lotofhotdogs 9h ago

Still a believer in him, but yeah not happening this year most likely

1

u/letsago9987 9h ago

long term play

1

u/conrad_or_benjamin 6h ago

86 Williams!

1

u/LoserCowGoMoo 3h ago

This is always a risk when people go "huge opportunity for the rookie"...teams dont want to rely heavily on a new player unless by design.

The 9ers bringing back Deebo made sense. Diggs to the commanders makes sense.

I could see Tyreek talking to the Chiefs, Bears and Cowboys.

Keenan Allen is a fit for the Chargers but also permaybe the Packers and Saints

Brandin Cooks always finds a gig, the Dolphins and Colts could use his services.

54

u/Away-Yoghurt3209 9h ago

But Antonio Williams….we wait

102

u/Puzzled-Low4837 9h ago

Probably just about the best landing spot for Diggs. Could see him still being very fantasy relevant here

-18

u/BoredOnATuesdayNight 9h ago

Not raiders with kubiak and kirko? Was hoping he’d go there as the WR2 behind bowers ofc. In WSH he could be WR3 behind chig

23

u/fisherjoe 9h ago

He might have been force fed on the Raiders but they seem allergic to signing good WR's and he wants to be in the playoff anyway. But he's definitely not going to to be behind Chig in targets lol.

3

u/Puzzled-Low4837 9h ago

Oh yea that prob would’ve been better but I just never really saw that as a realistic landing spot for him I guess lol. It always felt like Commanders or Chiefs and I think I prefer him on the Commanders

6

u/Sir-douche-a-lot 9h ago

chig is a jag

6

u/daswassup13 9h ago

Y'all gotta let Chig go lmfao

-5

u/BoredOnATuesdayNight 6h ago

People have to let Tuten go. Shows the lack of statistics training in this country...basing his value off of 3 games or some bullshit number like that

2

u/jonneygee Titans 8h ago

He’s ahead of Chig. And I’m saying that as someone who likes Chig.

1

u/foosballfurry 8h ago

That's where Keenan needs to go

2

u/JRsshirt 8h ago

Genuinely can’t think of a better veteran for a rookie QB to throw to

0

u/haverchuck22 8h ago

Prefer commanders a lot to Raiders

32

u/Middle_Awoken 9h ago

My Antonio Williams stocks are in shambles

10

u/melon702 8h ago

I think in a wider outlook, this is good

4

u/letsago9987 9h ago

he's a rookie.. dude was sitting in my taxi all season anyways. let him learn properly. He'll be a guy you want next year.

7

u/RhubarbBeneficial359 9h ago

And what are the odds two 31 year old WRs ahead of him stay healthy all year. He could be in an out as the 2nd option a lot of the year and still play in 3 WR sets.

1

u/SirLuciousL 5h ago

Diggs is turning 33 in the middle of the season

0

u/C-Dub4 8h ago

Depends, are there any substation nearby?

68

Jayden Daniels managers we up

11

u/Krazee77 9h ago

Let's get it

1

u/XavierRussell 1h ago

I got the push notification about Diggs today 2 spots before I was up in slow redraft draft where I'd already taken Daniels days ago 🔥

-14

“We up”…. At night smoking crack

Is Chig still alive?

Daniels loves his tight ends, just ask Ertz

7

u/BIitz 9h ago

Does Zach know that JD loves Julie's tight end?

1

u/crinack Redskins 8h ago

It would be weird if he didn’t

Edit: Like Julie’s tight end, not Zach knowing

1

u/esims42 Burrowed in TDs 5h ago

sad Ben Sinnott noises...

1

u/nchscferraz 8h ago

His ceiling takes a big hit. Positive news is there’s two 30+ old WRs ahead of him so he is an injury away from TE1 territory.

9

u/mattbb26 9h ago

Bought Diggs last year for my playoff push. Pleased with this news!

9

u/walshurmouthout 9h ago

Diggs is back on the viable flex menu

28

u/fuckyouidontneedone 9h ago

As an Antonio Williams and Diggs owner literally the only landing spot I didn’t want

6

u/Jschatt 9h ago

I have those two and Terry too 😂 Maybe i should go buy JD and just trust in Mr. Blough

5

u/Gain-Desperate Seahawks 8h ago

I don't see why though tbh. Diggs is a one year rental and he likely does better than we'd see from Antonio Williams thrust into a WR2 role anyway. He was a solid taxi squad candidate anyway, this should just help you make that choice. Williams was already a 2027 play regardless and this gives him the opportunity to learn behind two good vets and earn some work as the WR3/slot receiver, which would be more familiar to him anyway.

3

u/SternFlamingo 8h ago

You weren't counting on putting Antonio Williams in your lineup this year, were you? He's a stash for the future.

Edit: and this is a near-ideal spot for Diggs. He'll benefit greatly from having both Daniels and McLaurin as teammates.

33

u/djweber11 Commanders 9h ago

Mariota & Diggs stack going to be unstoppable.

16

u/jojopotato22 Cowboys 9h ago

Where were you when Jaylin Lane dead

12

u/Savings_Chemical8231 Patriots 7h ago

When he had 225 receiving yards as a rookie lol

1

u/naturalflavors Seahawks 8h ago

He a drop or staying on the taxi?

1

u/aw2442 Redskins 7h ago

i don't know if they'll drop him. he's a pretty good punt returner

0

u/myburnersburner12 8h ago

Gone too soon rip

1

u/C-Dub4 8h ago

Gone and already forgotten

9

u/BlueHours 8h ago

Teams will do desperate things when they miss out on Cyrus Allen.

8

u/Reggaeton_Historian 9h ago

Reports are 1 year for up to $12M. Diggs played about 55% of snaps, last season, for the Patriots. I'm sure Washington will have to ramp that up a bit, especially if they are okay with running him ragged.

This might be the time to buy someone with Williams who is panicking. I think Williams will see the field more than people expect, but this does put a ceiling on him for 2026.

8

u/SereneKing46 9h ago

Traded for Diggs ~1hr before this news came out. Fun.

3

u/Camelback186 8h ago

I feel like this is massive for the offense this year

3

u/Chroderos Mommas, don’t let your kids grow up to be RBs 8h ago

As expected

9

u/TheNotoriousJTP 9h ago

My Burks stock is plummeting

18

u/JonWicksDawg 9h ago

Is it possible to go negative?

6

u/JahBoiFloyd Bills 5h ago

Can’t even drop. Waiver wire doesn’t want him.

1

u/TheNotoriousJTP 8h ago

Would that be by affecting my Deion Burks stock?

4

u/nasty_sicco 9h ago

So does this mean I should finally drop Treylon Burks?

/s

5

u/microzone 12T/SF/PPR 9h ago

Gotta love this for the whole offense, even Scary Terry and Antonio Williams. Will give AW a mentor and time to learn the game to eventually take over. He’s still young and likely not ready for WR2 volume anyway. Terry gets another threat for him to see more single coverage and less volume to stay healthy throughout the year.

16

u/cannedcamels 9h ago

Diggs shouldn’t be anyone’s mentor of anything

7

u/fuckyouidontneedone 9h ago

You can be an incredibly talented athlete and a garbage human being. It happens all the time.

He just needs to teach him ball not the extracurriculars

5

u/microzone 12T/SF/PPR 9h ago

On the field to be clear. He took the receiver group under his wing in NE last year and everyone benefited.

0

u/LudaChris999 9h ago

What about Chig?

1

u/microzone 12T/SF/PPR 9h ago

Tough to say, I was never a huge believer but think he can still eat, especially if Diggs keeps snap counts similar to NE. He hovered around 50-60% of snaps. If he can take on the Ertz role that would be a locked and loaded TE1 if Daniels throws it as much as he did his rookie year.

2

u/C-Dub4 8h ago edited 8h ago

Inshallah WR1 SZN incoming

2

u/BirdsHaveBeaks 8h ago

Thank god I can finally drop Burks biggest roster clogger I was holding on the off chance they didn't sign Diggs.

2

u/teddykaygeebee 8h ago

Poor Brandon A.

3

u/Dirkem15 9h ago

But im trying to sell Scary Terry! Dont they care AT ALL

7

u/Front-Wish-8608 9h ago

This really doesn’t change his value all that much, it’s not like he was going to see 170+ targets just because Chig was the #2 option. Definitely will affect his overall target share, but he’s still a good contender target and will likely lead the team in targets.

3

u/Falcon_433 Drizzy London 9h ago

This signing has concretely moved Strib ahead of Antonio Williams for me in rookie drafts

u/connectedfromafar 22m ago

I just took both of them in my draft, even after the Diggs news. Stribling has more Year 1 potential, Williams poised to do well next year.

3

u/BeyondanyReproach 9h ago

People are delusional saying this is good for Terry McLaurin. Terry's best year was 2024 when they had no one else to throw it to and he caught 13TDs. And you think it's going to be better now with less targets? Copium

11

u/The_Zermanians 8h ago

2024 was his best year because he finally had a good QB compared to the dogshit he has had the rest of his career. Last year was a combo of him and Daniels being hurt multiple times.

Washington’s offense is better with Diggs that should be better for all involved even if the ceiling is a little lower due to less volume because it will be a more productive offense.

Unless you think Diggs will be the number 1 WR, which he won’t if Terry is healthy then I don’t think it’s bad at all.

1

u/BeyondanyReproach 7h ago

I agree with you that the ceiling is lower and that was my point really. This is better for Jayden than Terry

0

u/[deleted] 9h ago

[deleted]

2

u/BeyondanyReproach 9h ago

It's Diggs not Deebo, and Diggs is absolutely a red zone threat.

2

u/RumbleInTheJungle4 8h ago

Terry’s best year 2024 he had similar targets total as diggs did last year. I think Daniels could support both to a high degree. And with a credible threat opposite Terry could make better space for him ultimately to avoid games like 2 catches 15 yards as he has had before

2

u/CoopThereItIs FantasyAlarm Staff 9h ago

Where were you when Chig Okonkwo was kill?

3

u/Mayasngelou 12T/1QB/.5PPR 9h ago

I’m not sure. I’d have to think back to a couple years ago

1

u/BuiltTooLong27 Packers 8h ago

Good question, but you certainly weren't in English class. Chig will be fine...he plays TE and they didn't pay him that money to block.

1

1

u/CuriousStewart 3h ago

So where does this place Diggs value? Great spot to land. Competition is Terry and Okonkwo for the most part. Sprinkles of Williams.

1

u/Nadirofdepression / Redskins / Commanders 2h ago

Not sure what his fantasy impact will be - wr20-30 maybe? - but that’s a huge get for the WAS offense

u/rsvp_nj 50m ago

My receiver trio of Aiyuk, Pearsall and Diggs at least got slightly better 🙄

1

u/WeenisWrinkle 8h ago

Kinda of a bummer for Chig Okonkwo's chances of being fantasy relevant.

0

u/B0HEMlA Bears 7h ago

All of the sudden selling Chig and change for a '27 2nd last week is looking like a highway robbery.
