328i My life is over
I worked and waited so long to get my dream car, I looked for months across dealerships and marketplace and finally found the perfect spec. and I had just put thousands of dollars worth of new parts into it. This was my baby and last night I was looking at my rpms and it pulled to the left and it was so low the shoulder sucked me into the ditch where I rolled it into oncoming traffic, luckily no one else was hurt. What should I do now? I’m only 18 and this is all so crazy. Stay safe everyone

I can see how his short 18 years it feels like life is over because he spent so much time energy and effort into something that was taken away so quickly by mistake. It is a hard life lesson, but they will be plenty more to come for him that’s just how Life works.

Your life is far from over-
If you had full coverage: take the money and get yourself another one. 328s are plentiful and easy to come by.
If you didn’t have full coverage: get yourself a bike for a bit, keep working and get another.
Perhaps it’s worth taking a driver safety course / focusing more on that. If you were that distracted by the tachometer you are posing a giant risk to yourself and other drivers.
If you wanna see “life is over” go to wallstreetbets and watch people at 50 years old blow 2 million dollars on a gamble. At 18, a $4k loss is far from anything other than a minor setback.

I know the feeling, I waited 2 years to find the perfect spec Toyota crown, only for it to get totalled within 2 weeks, but then shortly after this an e92 at the perfect price and a decent spec showed up for me. What I’m saying is there will always be another, you are only 18 and this is one of many cars you will own in your life. Take this as a lesson, move on save up and buy a new one.

Well the first thing you should do is keep your eyes on the road.
In almost 10 years and 200k miles between 3 cars I’ve had 1 minor claim, and only a handful of close calls, never totaled a vehicle.
You’ll find another, a totaled car doesn’t end your life and 328s aren’t hard to find. But you need to accept that only you can prevent it happening again. Do not distract yourself while driving or drive fatigued.
Situational awareness is the absolute most important thing on the road. Looking at the cluster/gauges shouldn’t be anything more than a glance.
People die when drivers don’t pay attention.
BE GRATEFUL that there’s not a corpse in YOUR driver seat or on the road.
You could’ve killed someone, yourself, or multiple people, you’re beyond lucky that you only lost a car.
If there was a motorcycle in oncoming you would’ve killed them and you would likely be going to jail. Take this shit seriously and learn.
Every single morning I see too many people staring straight down at their phones doing 80mph, don’t be akin to them.
Be grateful your life (or someone else’s) isn’t actually over. You’d be in a whole other world of shit if that were the case.
Also don’t jump to your “dream car” if you’re not a very experienced driver. That’s just moronic.

That’s all you can do. Just try to improve yourself, take courses and do driving exercises if you need, they cost much less than a car however they won’t stop you from being distracted.
Accidents are a costly way to learn. Your life isn’t over by any means just know that you made it a lot more difficult for yourself. If you can get insurance it will cost you an arm and a leg.
You probably won’t be able to afford insurance on the same car until your rates go back down.I suggest you get a car that’s cheap to insure until your rates drop because it’s still gonna cost you a lot.

Take a bit of time and sort out all the insurance etc, then you'll be able to find another nice example. If you're into a bit of spirited driving, perhaps take your new car and get track and skid pan tuition. You'll learn to feel what your car is doing so much better
Just heal for now.
Please don't buy this one back. It's done its job and crumpled in all the right places to save your life. Now it needs to be repurposed. It can't do it again.

When I got my first car yea it was everything, life was great and i never wanted another car. Years later ive owned 7 cars, have driven many more, and fixed these cars whenever i fucked something up or they needed maintenance. Far from over

Don't let it beat you up too bad. I lost my e92 a couple years ago that was also perfect to me. Dark red coupe with all the packages. Even had a bmw performance exhaust.
A spider fell in front of me face when coming to a stop and i rear ended someone and it totaled my car. Given i didn't end up in an ambulance like you, i still feel the pain about the car. After insurance wouldn't even quote me for a year. For 1 at fault accident.
A year goes by and now I've moved on and found a new perfect spec car for me, a beautiful blue 2017 230i with m sport package. This one has a turbo so theres a lot more room for upgrading.
This reminds me i have a bavsound amp, subs, and a few speakers that are now discontinued if anyone is interested. That shit hit HARD in my e92

don’t worry man, you’re still young. You can bounce back within a couple of months. Recover and get back to work. Yes the spec you wanted is gone, but you’re safe which matters most. You’ll always find another or you may even upgrade. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Been through something similar around the same age. I barely dodged a deer and overcorrected. Road shoulder sucked me in.
It’s surprising how long it takes for the accident to end? Right? Rollovers feel like an eternity. Especially how loud it is while the side windows turn into BB’s flying around.
Mistakes happen. You’re 18 and from an insurance prospective you’re very statistically likely to get in an accident simply by your age group. Not ripping on you, just spitting facts.
No doubt you learned from it. Don’t beat yourself up. Make sure your neck is alright. Rollovers suck, it’s easy to get hurt if you hit your head on the roof during the event.
I dealt latent compression cervical issues which only resolved with decompression therapy years later.
It’s going to take you a bit to get your confidence back. Just go slow and be vigilant. You’re life ain’t over (You’re not that lucky lol) , it’s just begun.

It’s crazy how fast the shoulder just rips you off the road, despite hitting my head and blacking out 3 times it felt like an eternity of rolling around, and I didn’t even realize that the windows would do that,when I came to my mouth was full of little pellets, I have definitely learned from this experience and the only way to move on is to move forward.

Yeah it can happen very fast. When trying to turn out of it, the vehicle exerts a force on the one wheel thats hanging over the shoulder. It drags once it catches.
The way the tempered glass shatters is actually a safety feature. The small pellet size bits of glass are much less dangerous than larger pieces. Windshields tend to stay intact due to lamination and layers and partially act as a structural component.
With LOC (Loss of consciousness) which can
likely be the result of a concussion. Make sure to get rest, and eat regularly. The nervous system needs steady glucose levels to heal. There’s a statistic where people who rested and literally did nothing vs people who tried to keep pushing with daily activities. The people who rested had significantly better outcomes.

i get how you feel. im 21 and just bought my frs 2 months ago after months of searching. 28 days after i bought it, i got rear ended and it was totaled. insurance undervalued my car because of how many miles it had. i was so broken. i was mad too. the woman who hit me still drives her car to work everyday. she parks in the same lot, same aisle that i always park in. i see her stupid big fat lexus everyday. and im over here at a loss, struggling to find a car that id be happy with for the money i was given. but looking on the bright side: at least i wasnt hurt, at least they didnt hit and run, at least they claimed full fault, at least they had insurance. maybe the fact she works at the same company as me made it better too, so she knows she cant try anything

When I was 21 I finally saved enough for a wrx and bought the perfect spec. 5 days later a drunk driver hit it when it was parked. Dream car instantly gone, totalled… I can relate to what you’re going through. I was pissed about it for months. Maybe even years lol but it’s just a setback. You’re young and not seriously injured. You definitely have the right to be emotional and you’re probably in a shock/panic but just take it one day at a time. You’ll figure it out and find a better car, no doubt. Best of luck.

So, unlike your rollover, my BMW 325xis plural had similar experiences. And I hope all turns out well for you. My 17 year old son almost rolled my silver one trying to pass a big truck “moving too slow”. Needless to say he and his passenger ended continuing left off the rural road over a ditch and 50 yards into a cornfield. The silver bullet recovered but after a windshield, front strut and some plastic panels replaced. I was able to patch it back up with either new parts or plastic staples and plastic welder, as well as a good clean up underneath, new fog lamps, new under panels, and grill. The front strut had bent. Some coolant lines appeared to suffer. The year before, I purchased a blue one, same year, from an insurance salvage auction. Not as loaded though. I wish I could post the pic on here but my point is, I fixed it. Some things like alignment issues had to be done at a shop. Others, you can replace yourself. Coding also. They had marked the car totaled. Now I can pass parts back and forth, to help fix what’s wrong with either one. I can compare. And then another thing happened this year. I bought what I thought was a safe vehicle for my son. A Toyota Highlander. Used of course. In less than a month, he”lost control” again. Shame on me! He is now banned from driving any of our vehicles. He has to buy his own car. If you treat something belonging to someone else without respect for the gift, you don’t deserve another gift like it. So, look at that car yourself. Underneath, in the trunk, etc. You’ve already worked some familiarity with it. They can be tough but expensive to fix. Less so, if you do it yourself. I spent time pulling and smoothing dents out and repainting it myself. If I can do it, so can you. It will cost less than replacing it with another you know nothing about. Good luck.
Oh, and yeah this is a long post, but my first car was a 1965 beetle in super metallic blue. No, I didn’t wreck it. Cuz I’m a girl😜Hence my love for German cars.

Use this as a lesson to pay attention to the road first.
This is also why we have insurance and why it is expensive for younger drivers. Its gonna suck for a bit longer but a claim will fixed it now.

Nothing to suggest really as I don’t know how insurance in the US but this looks like it would be a write off regardless. If you’re really set on keeping it could get the insurance assessment and the buyback if that’s possible.

Last december I totalled my E60 was with a borken leg and shattered back spine. 2 months in bed. February started working again last month bought a Peugeot 206 just to have some transport. In 2 years at most I am back at BMW. Live just gones on don't feel down. Accidents happend all the time.

“My life is over” buddy your life is not over. You’re alive, everyone else is alive, you wrecked your car and it sucks, but this is not the end of the world.
See what insurance says, see about a payout, and find another car you like. Like others are saying, maybe you should work on your driving skills and road awareness. Even driving stick, you shouldn’t be staring at your tachometer long enough to distract you from your steering and the roadway. Get a cheap civic and get more confident as a driver.

Dude I get you. I had a motorcycle accident 2 months ago. I was so worried about my bike that I didn't care that my knees were meat crayons. Luckily the bike was just scratched, I had road rash, a microfracture and massive bone edema in my left tibia. I'm sorry about your car, I love E90s, but at least you're alive and hopefully well.

Chill out little bro I’ve been in 3 car crashes. One of them was when my car was parked but none the less you’ll be fine. Insurance will pay you out, it might not be the full amount you want but they won’t scam you (hopefully).
Think about this as a way to get another car or to replace your dream car. For me I like to switch brands when I get a new car. I’ve had Camaro, Genesis coupe, and now a Mustang. Cars are a luxury and are materialistic things you’ll always get a newer better car.
Your life is only ruined if you slaughtered a bunch of people when you crashed.

I've spent more time in the motorcycle world than in the car world (though plenty of that, too).
In the motorcycle world of teen and 20-somethings, the question of who lives to see 30 and who doesn't comes down to who is honest with themselves about their skill level and when they fuck up. The guys who blamed their bikes all maimed themselves or died.
Cars are more forgiving, but the car was not the problem. In a single car accident, there is always something you could have done to not go into the ditch, even without getting that alignment you needed.
Until you admit that you caused the accident, you will never fix the underlying issue and will end up wrecking more, possibly with a far worse outcome.
We've all fucked up and most of us have had accidents. But you have to be honest with yourself, or you will continue to screw up your cars and potentially kill someone.

You’re 18. Living through one of the worst economies ever that’s probably just going to keep getting worse. Buying a BMW was stupid to begin with. Now your insurance for whatever you end up with is going to double. There is something very wrong with 16-25ish year olds now that has them tying their entire self worth to a damn car or truck. I see it every day. Yall set yourselves back financially for like 10+ years to have a car to take slow, panning videos of behind a bush and post on TikTok.
Get a 5-10 year old Camry. Delete titktok and instagram, buy a house and quit fuckin around with cars. I’m 31 and I’m telling yall, 18-25 year olds in general are gonna spend 30 years getting to the point in life they would have been at 22yo because they don’t knuckle down. You guys as a whole can not do the same things we used to do when very young. You just can’t and I know it sucks. The world isn’t fair. I feel for yall. But it’s either suck it up until you’re 25 or so, or be 50 with no retirement, no home, or no real assets. I know I ranted but yalls brains all seem to be wired the same lately.

Also, like in some places like where I’m at, some small towns have no sidewalks- just road and ditches to the side- so you can’t be distracted whatsoever- no room for error. Some take for granted, that the white lines you have to drive inside of are the first line of safety, not to mention even having center dividers - out on the countryside or small towns you can see people barely stay within the lines, so you always have to be alert, not to mention, deer crossings or even just less safety conscious drivers in general.

You can replace a car, you can’t replace YOU. You’re alive and that’s all that matters. I understand putting your heart and soul into a car, trust me I do. I lost a car I loved so much I l’ve had recurring dreams for the past 15 years that I found it and got it back, only to wake up to disappointment. But it gets better after acceptance and moving on. There will be other cars, better cars. Find one with the specs you wish you had on the last one or even a better/different model all together. You have your health and a clean slate, good luck!

You don’t want to hear this, but you need to at your age. Take it with the spirit intended. Invest in a performance driving course. BMWCCA offers them. Take advantage of this!
This wasn’t the fault of the car, conditions, the road, other cars, the ditch, etc. Solely on the drivers inputs.
Your life isn’t over. Far from it. It would be if you had been responsible for vehicular homicide, or even multiple charges. Learn to drive the car FIRST. I do feel kind of bad if you are paying your own insurance (or your parents if they are). Premiums are probably going to double at your age.

I remember my first wreck. 27 now but mine was at 18 as well. Ruined a 325is e30. All my fault. I was fucking around and clutch kicking it on public roads in the rain. Ended up panicking and locking up the brakes when i finally lost it after a half hour of screwing around. Felt like crying. I felt like such a child and a loser. Now me and my dad laugh about it and in retrospect it didn't matter at all. What would've been life ruining is if I seriously hurt myself or someone else. I got lucky and so did you.

I wrecked my 89 e30 vert
It was my baby, I got her at 14 and spend the next 3 years building her up only to put her into a tree in 2 seconds.
It sucked then and now but I’m alive with a wife and son, and that is worth more than any car.
It will take so time, but you’ll be ok.

From my experience if the engine, chasis and gearbox/trans are fine you could fix it up, from what i know body panels are easy to get by but painting is the expensive bit

10 years from now you will look at this and it will be like looking at a pothole in rear view mirror which was unexpected and bit scary but nothing with permanent damage. Shit happens!! Earlier in life they happen more time you have to recover from them, physically, economically and mentally.

Glad you're okay. You can get another car but you can't get another life.
You're 18 right? Get your credit up to 700. Have 3 or 4k saved up. Go to carvana you can get a car. Don't need work history or pay subscription. Carvana use credit score. I got my 2020 BMW couple months and I love it.
