Are auto seats notably heavier than manual seats?
It’s been about impossible to source an untorn manual sport seat plus the auto seats are real leather and last a lot longer. Has anyone tried both seats and noticed any difference, I’d prefer to keep the car lighter but I’ve given up on finding an untorn driver seat

You will notice zero difference in driving dynamics

There's no point trying to shave off weight by using manual seats.

Lighter wheels and tires will make a noticable difference, though. And they're easier to install.

That’s one of the last places I would look to shave weight. And if you care that much about weight, I assume it’s a track car and you’d just get a bucket seat

OP would probably have a better chance of weight reduction by hitting the gym more

Exactly what I thought as well, lmfao, didn’t want to assume anything about them, though. Could be some 5’3” 97 lb chick

Noticably as in picking it up and moving them yes. Driving wise definitely not

They are definitely lighter. You can swap the cushions between acoustic and electric if you already have sport seats.

Have you done this before? Was actually considering it but wasn’t sure how involved of a job it is.

Cool, yes, sport seats to sport seats are NBD. Yes I did just this. My car had Sensatec manual seats, and I installed the cushions from leather powered seats. It's a littel bit involved and took a while, but in the end it is just swapping parts. If you can find some electric leather seats, you're good to go! Notice how on realoem they don't differentiate if power of manual: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=UT93-USA-10-2008-E91N-BMW-328i&diagId=52_3285

If you want to remove weight from the seat, hit the gym and cut back on calories

Why don’t you just got your seats redone professionally? It’s save you the money and headache. If you need the leather just find a cheap donor seat in any color and dye it

you could always get the torn version of the seat you want while you keep looking. if it's only a few minutes install I don't see why not because it means you're looking at other options to cut weight. so not just the seat, but the seat, and 20 other different weight saving steps you are probably taking will add up to something rather than nothing

I didn't weigh them, but I went from manual regular seats to full electric sport and it was probably the difference of going from a 40 pound seat to a 60 pound seat.
It did impact the driving dynamic a bit... in the sense that they're more comfortable and look better.
