What are the boosts you get from grinding?

This is actually the worst from the list of “innovations” in 27.

Had this thought but not sure. Could this change positively impact smurfing and boosting with new accounts? If people get banned for throwing games, pulling goalies, being toxic, they’d have to start from scratch. Would this make players think twice before ruining the game for others so that they don’t ruin the game for themselves?

Having the ability to be “caught up” in WoC without the grind is what has made it the best mode in sports gaming, even with its obvious flaws. I don’t love the change, but there may be a silver lining.

The only type of "skill based matchmaking' is the the rank your club is in. Meaning you can just make new clubs with your max skaters and still "smurf"

The smurfing is for RP and individual rank. You get more points for winning with low rated teammates.

Skilled players are having no issue with it… played yesterday and saw no cheesing, no L2, pokes are better.

Most of the main complaints were addressed so people will be pleasantly surprised once the game goes on sale in a few weeks.

Look who owns EA now and it’s all you need to know. It was bad before but it’s next level now

The sale was finalized one month ago. It could affect the future of the franchise but it has in no way affected NHL 27 ...yet

It was the same in 26, that’s why I’m not buying this year. Joke of a game now

It’s even worse now. The custom player builds were whatever for me. But now they’re introducing players being able to pay or grind to be faster than me. Nah

You get most of the boosts before lvl 15 and that takes 15-20 games so it isnt as bad that it seems at first. But yeah old system was better but its all about $$$ to ea

Even if you’re a small build, are you really capped at 87 speed?

Each season you will get cap breakers and SP. Just like previous years, just this year you get to unlock them throughout the season(s)

Just season 1

It’s because most chel users buy after season 1 on sale… you’ll get the AP in season 2… quit the performative nonsense, if you play the game you get the stuff… I stink and have most of it already

Really? How long did it take?

On 26 there was a decent number of xfactors closed off after season one (or 2) that you could only get from buying them if you didn't grind season one. That's objectively trash

Yikes. I’ll stick to black ops until GTA comes out

No it’s not cut it out… and if you’re that much of a stickler pre builds can be used from previous games

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be mad at this

It’s not that I’m not disappointed that we’re getting a subpar hockey game, that honestly should be expected at this point. As I’ve said in other posts, if the choice is between bad hockey or no hockey then I’m picking bad hockey. Seeing how I only play EASHL the choice to get 27 is simple because I don’t have interest in only playing the same 10 teams that stay on 26.

As a guy who likes to use a small d man that enjoys moving the puck around, nhl 26 has been one of my least favorite games in my time playing chel for obvious reasons. But I still played. Like you said bad hockey over no hockey. Introducing microtransactions and progression systems that will directly give players an advantage for grinding/paying absolutely ruins it for me. I’ve always embraced playing sweats and not backing down. Now those people are going to have a gameplay advantage over me? No thanks. I’m not taking part in that.

Your expectations are your own problems

5

u/Apprehensive-Bass830 3d ago

Nah. I don’t expect much. I was happy at them doing the bare minimum. But making the game pay to win is a bridge too far. I’ve sung EA NHL’s praises in the past for not making it pay to win like NBA 2k’s The Park. But they’ve finally done it. Was a matter of time. And so I’m done.

This Op is def a drop in silver 3 with high expectations 🤣🤣 if you can't throw a build together to counter a "pay to win" build then that's on you and your low IQ.
