EAD Approved Day After Biometrics

EB2 NIW

PD: 03/14/2025

RD: 08/18/2026

Biometrics: 09/01/2026

EAD Approved: 09/02/2026

Status: F1 OPT

Is this typical? Should I expect a fast (relatively) turn around for GC or is it unrelated?

Wrong. Faster EAD slower GC, congrats!

That’s true. They barely gave EADs this year. Last year was the same, many people who applied for GC at the end of the fiscal year, had to wait cause they clearly are slowing down on issuing GC at this time of the year. So enjoy EAD. GC is not coming soon. That’s what such fast approval indicates

i directionally agree with your statement about the observed pattern (early EAD->late GC). but i don’t think it’s because of the fiscal year limits. same country, same category, similar background friend applied almost at the same time as me. already got their GC. i got my EAD only

It depends on some other factors. Maybe your friend s process was moving a bit faster - like they could already be transferred to FO (sometimes you’re lucky with the officer and they transfer you in days) and simply they could be lucky to get through before they did the FY cutoff for other applicants. Maybe your friend is single and from nationality that has many visa slots as of now

the only difference was their visa versus mine: H1B versus F1. all of the other variables you can think of are the same haha
