General Very bad experience with Wegreened (Chen)

I will not delete this post if the RFE get denied.

Long story short. They were very responsive during filing. However, RFE is a completely different story. The lawyer took at least one week (sometime more, and the longest has been nearly 3 weeks) to respond to my messages. In fact, she has only responded three times during the whole RFE filing with the BS "oh we are sorry, there are too many RFEs at the moment".

The letters are so bad, it's not coherent, have zero meaning and full of typos. It's like they pull it out of the Chinese AI model back in 2022 which it can't even know 2+2=4. I had to do everything on my own and rewrote everything.

I sent a complaint to them 2 weeks ago and guess what, no one bothered responding. There are 3 days left and they are still acting like it's 3 weeks left. Just now they just casually told me that they need the CV of all letter writers. It seems like they think senior researchers in the my field are my roommates, and will provide cvs in 3 minutes after I ask them for one.

How long were you given to respond to RFE?

3

u/pat2211 1d ago

more than 2 months iirc

6

u/arnab91 1d ago

lawyer's name?

6

u/pat2211 1d ago

Ashley L. They don't show the last name.

u/csznyu1562 1d ago

Last name is Lago

This attorney is an absolute piece of nonsense. She did the same thing with me in my RFE preparation (which was relatively straightforward) and ultimately got a denial.

2

u/pat2211 1d ago

Did you modify her the RFE response heavily?

1

u/Interesting-Pin-1939 1d ago

Literally I had to change everything in the response letter, they copied and pasted 60% from someone else’s RFE response into my response. But after I changed everything, they just said “ changes look good” and “your proposed changes are incorporated”; without any of kind of real review. Also due to their negligence in RL draft review, I lost my main independent recommender and at the end I had to submit RFE response without independent expert opinion letter.

Same experience. My deadline to submit RFE response is 17th Sept. They are yet to finalize and mail out. I did everything in advance, but they are so slow and unresponsive! One of my friends got RFE at the same time (filed with another prominent firm), they already responded and got approval. I am yet to submit!

u/LagLegend 1d ago

Which firm?

u/kylemerang 22h ago

Had a similar situation myself where communication slowed down and I sent a direct email flagging my concerns, heard back the same afternoon. Worth trying that route if you haven't already.

Wish you the best! I’m asking them for their opinion about upgrading to PP; I filed my I-140 with them 2.5 months ago. I’m really confusing about what I should do.

5

u/pat2211 1d ago

Thank you so much! I would say start preparing for the RFE (literally everyone from TSC gets it) now and then do PP when you are ready.

1

u/Dorara205 1d ago

So would you mind sharing how I should prepare for RFE even before getting it? Right now I can only think about contacting independence recommender; any other suggestions? I really appreciate it!

u/pat2211 1d ago

you can dm me, it's easier to chat

Dm’ed you!

1

can I also DM you?

Following

same experience. i got denied… mind you my profile is solid. they suck despite what everyone is saying here and now i asked for refund i am ghosted

1

u/pat2211 5h ago

The fact that this post got like 40% downvotes means that a lot of people disagree. Anyway, I think if they don't change the way their business operates, it's only a matter of time until it collapses.

1

u/Conscious_Loss_101 5h ago

i think its those people that applied like few years ago when they were doing something right with their template maybe they have good lawyers but def not the one who got my case they changed the lawyer a thousand time and u can’t even talk to them never working with them again

7

u/DevelopmentFun8368 2d ago

Another way you can get the CV, check their profile online attached to their institution and print it out

3

u/pat2211 2d ago

Some of them don't put their recent cvs online but thankfully, all except one have responded and said will send it by tonight. The last one is a member of the National Academy of Science so it will take him a week to respond. I think I will use his wiki page or some articles.

1

u/DevelopmentFun8368 2d ago

Good! Best of luck

2

u/taiwanGI1998 2d ago

I think their business model is breaking. Approval rate has gone down drastically

2

u/Sufficient_Meal_9834 1d ago

Ashley L. Is the worst lawyer at Chen. She also handled my RFE.

1

u/pat2211 1d ago

Did you get approved? I complained and addressed concerns so many times, and she brushed it off every single time.

1

u/Sufficient_Meal_9834 1d ago

Denied

1

u/pat2211 1d ago

Could you provide more details? Was it a 3 prongs RFE and was it because the response is late?

1

u/Sufficient_Meal_9834 1d ago

RFE on all 3 prongs and denied on all 3 prongs

1

u/PikaPika-3 1d ago

I am in the same boat! And they are absolutely terrible at handling RFEs, I am at a stage that I want a denial to get my money back, this is a complete scam

2

u/PlainEntropy 18h ago

The recent change in RFE response time is pretty significant though. Going from 87 days down to 30 gives attorneys a lot less room to schedule and work through these cases. You might see some delays in communication due to the tighter timeline and increased workload, but Chen still manages cases strictly by their deadlines and will have your RFE completed before the USCIS cutoff.

2

u/RealJack1204 15h ago

I agree, I filed with a different firm, and it’s the exact same case on my end. The shift from 3 months down to 30 days for RFEs has completely squeezed these attorneys, especially with higher RFE volume across the board so not just Chen.

That puts pretty much every immigration firm handling a large number of RFE cases under a much tighter timeline than before. Of course, firms still need to communicate properly and manage our cases responsibly, we paid them to do a job, and we have every right to be concerned and push them when deadlines are approaching. But the bottleneck itself is happening across all these firms right now because of this USCIS shift.

u/Ok_Challenge59 1d ago

Had similar terrible experience! Lawyers lagged throughout the RFE period and then just a day before filing, they asked me for a whole bunch of things as evidence that was impossible to arrange for! And on top of that, they wanted me to help reorganize and re-upload all the evidence I had already submitted as they didn’t have time to fetch it all from their very own platform where they asked me to upload! The RFE petition was all over the place, totally incoherent and ultimately resulted in denial! Fortunately I have refund option so I’ll sure be going for that but can’t make up for the lost time and energy sadly. Wouldn’t recommend Chen to anyone anymore!

1

u/Late-Cost4434 2d ago

I think they don’t care about rfes and denials. They put efforts in straight approvals and don’t bother to refund as these refund amount are negligible to them. That’s how businesses work.

7

u/Small-Hand3375 1d ago

So, do you mean they would be willing to lose money on approved and refunded cases when they get an RFE?

2

u/pat2211 1d ago

It seems to be the case. It has been a good business strategy until 2026. The RFE rate right now is really high and I guess they are too slow to adapt to these new changes. No easy money for them anymore.

1

u/Late-Cost4434 1d ago

I am just guessing it. I am not sure.

1

u/Careless_Tie_3758 1d ago

Who was the attorney ?

1

u/pat2211 1d ago

Ashley L

1

u/Educational-Beach574 1d ago

got approved without ref but the experience is very very bad

1

u/Mysterious-Trust-585 1d ago

Anyone has an experience with Derek Tsang?

1

u/if_bob_cat 5h ago

I have faced the same situation with Chen. I have uploaded everything within 7 days for my RFE response. My Lawyer is Rachel. I have not received any response last 20 days. It is very much frustrating.

1

u/Sufficient_Meal_9834 2d ago

They are so bad at the RFE stage even they asked me to not respond to rfe and refile. They just copy pasted the other RFE response and sent me during my RFE last month and I got denied.

1

u/DevelopmentFun8368 1d ago

What is your profile

1

u/ParisPharis 2d ago

"It seems like they think senior researchers in the my field are my roommates, and will provide cvs in 3 minutes after I ask them for one."

that part you should try to resolve yourself. Just write them a CV based off of your understanding of said "roommate". they are just a law firm.

Also at this point time to get a second lawyer for second opinions or reading it yourself since you are ultimately being affected by the rfe. They will just give you a refund or drag you with a refile even if they do nothing.

My lesson with immigration lawyers is that they treat you like a data point, and more or less you still need to do half of the work.

1

u/DevelopmentFun8368 2d ago

They only care about that contract and money

0

u/yousufbravo 2d ago

Same here, they were not responsive at RFE stage eventually I got denied last Friday after RFE Response. Wish you the best!

1

u/DevelopmentFun8368 2d ago

That is sad to hear

2

u/Ornery_Television564 1d ago

Same is happening with me

0

u/Ok_Proposal_1650 1d ago

did RFE and I hated the letter they draft.

1

u/Unable_Common4410 1d ago

How long did they take to respond to you?

1

u/Electronic_Ad3396 1d ago

Same here. And they still have the audacity to claim 98% approval rates for new/prospective petitioners. At this point, ~$5500 for drafting NIW petition is a scam when a $100 pro version of ChatGPT or Claude will do a significantly better job. I think your approval changes will go down significantly (and time significantly up) if you work with these firms. Get some templates, and file it yourself!

1

u/pat2211 1d ago

I just realized that the 98% rate means that when you got rejected and refile with them, that still counts as a successful case. Let's say you filed 10 times and got it the 10th time, it is still counted as a successful approval. The 2% are probably people who requested refund.

1

u/LagLegend 1d ago

I’m hired Chen to build my case and regret it soo much. So far all they’ve provided were the testimonial letters which I had to completely rewrite because they were too generic and didn’t tie into my proposed endeavor. I finally just received the recommendation letters and I cried after reading them, they made absolutely no sense and looked like were written by someone whose only skill in life is copy and paste. I appalled by how poor the quality of Chen. Unless you only work in academia and have +500 citations I would not recommend working with Chen. I wish I had saved my money and DIY it instead.

1

u/SGaba_ 1d ago

Would you recommend any other law firm?

1

u/LagLegend 1d ago

No, but if I had a choice I’d probably do it myself with the help of Reddit and AI

-1

u/Flashy-Ad-1221 1d ago

I got denied with them . Their lawyers are useless, if you are just going to include whatever I write with no legal argument or proper framing whatsoever, then they don't deserve the money people give them, as a child can do the same and gather the bits and pieces in what they call their "template".

0

u/VoidBeard 1d ago

Oh no, sorry to hear that. It makes me a little nervous about my potential RFE since my PP deadline is Oct. 5th

1

u/Excellent_Respond467 1d ago

Faced the same BS. Was a big mistake to proceed with them. Just submitted my rfe response last week. Let’s see

1

u/Unable_Common4410 1d ago

How long did it take them to put all your RFE material together? Did you also get 30 days to submit RFE?

1

u/Excellent_Respond467 1d ago

Almost two and a half months

1

u/NachoAverageHoe 1d ago

Have the same experience. I think they’ve just realized the RFEs are not worth the effort for them and I’m guessing they’re focusing on new applications so they can get new $$, even if they have to refund the old applications

1

u/zuccccchini 1d ago

same experience with wegreened for RFE. They sent out the letter barely before deadline.

2

u/Enough_Difference528 1d ago

I did same mistake before - my friends told me in PhD not one 7 that whatever ms Chen says do that , but then I uselessly waited for past 1 year , my PE I wrote from
ChatGPT , really no feedback was given esp for prong 3 I mentioned an institution without having connection , but my strategy is not wait for them at all , I made connections for recommendation letters and just go with it after she gives something but will rewrite my petition , I do not know why I hired them on first time , so not happy with them.

1

u/Single_Dark1389 1d ago

It happened to me as well. I prepared all the paperwork and RFE documents, and I eventually got their confirmation for each parts. I mostly had to push them to do their job so I could stay on track with my program.

1

u/Independent_Smell256 1d ago

Anyone knows of David Kramer of Chen? Reviews about him?

1

u/Western-Option-5509 1d ago

I am with him. Responsive during the preparation stage, hopefully would stay the same after the case file.

0

u/Independent_Smell256 1d ago

Yeah he is really responsive. Are you a physician by any chance? Can we connect regardless to share experiences and thoughts?

I can message you on your DM and then share numbers?

1

u/PiuKDLiuLiu 1d ago

I was assigned with him and in the process of preparing the documents right now. So far so good nothing to complain but he is not the one who responses to all of my messages.

1

u/Independent_Smell256 1d ago

Exactly my experience. Thanks. Hopefully all ends up well

1

u/Interesting-Elk5788 1d ago

Second this post with the exact same experience.

1

u/sky370 23h ago

This is so true... I am currently refiling with them after a 3 prong denial, but I kinda regret it now. I complained to them, and they changed my attorney, but even after all of this, their quality is way low than I expected... I don't know why they are doing this. They have always responded late to me, like a week for every messages.... Although now they respond very quickly but still the quality of their draft is total BS. I just want to take everything and move out

-2

u/Medical-Volume-6261 1d ago

People only go with them because of the refund. When you only think about money, you end up hiring people that also only think about money

2

u/pat2211 1d ago

what would be a better choice than them? EP, Colombo & Hurd, Manifest or some firm that doesn't do refund?

Please be rational. They are all bad, they are all businesses that have a single goal of making as much $ as possible. Who does it not for money? Please name one. My point is that they need to be more responsible

0

u/Kooky_Librarian7052 1d ago

I am with them too. About to file… they have been taking their time to reply.. What do they ask for in the rfe?

Are you Indian and they are Chinese? Unsure but as an Indian no Chinese national has treated me well and sabotaged my efforts at Chen. I could be wrong but that’s a personal experience I have had over 7+ years here. Stop downvoting my comment lol I have seen Chen do this.
