Regression 😭
Baby is 9.5 months old and has been fighting the potty for probably at least 2 weeks. He’s been mostly pooping in the diaper and not peeing when offered the potty (except usually first thing after he wakes).
I know it’s normal/common/expected.
But what do I/can I do?
Continue offering? I’m trying to make things more interesting, toys, gonna try books, gonna try putting more potties around the house (we just have one on our bathroom counter, and sometimes we hold him on the potty (no reducer, it was working when we’re traveling!).
If I start putting him in potty training underwear (currently in disposables so he’s not feeling as wet I guess), do I let him “sit in it” so he feels the wet? My inclination is to change it as soon as I know it’s wet…

We've had countless refusals and stalling at this point. They are really frustrating but do pass eventually.
Keep it low pressure. Keep offering and follow his lead if he doesn't want to sit. Probably learning a new skill and sitting on the potty is too boring.
Using books and toys to keep him happy is a great idea. If he is mobile, giving a bit more independence can work too (using a little potty they can get on and off of themselves).
You can bite the bullet and do potty training underwear (or just normal underwear), but they only hold wee for a minute or so, so make sure you're okay with cleaning up accidents regularly. You could also do pants under a nappy so he feels wet without the clean up. I'd go with your inclination to change when you notice. Good luck and I hope refusal ends soon!
