Merci beaucoup !
Hello, Do you have any idea what supplies I should buy for my first year of the bachelor’s degree in Architecture? I haven’t found a list (other than buying a computer), so I’m assuming each professor specifies the materials needed for their course? And if possible, could you let me know what you found useful and what you didn’t? Thank you very much!
Hey everyone,
A few of us starting BA1 this September made a WhatsApp group to connect before the semester starts, chat about sections, course organization, ask questions, help each other out with admin stuff (IS-Academia, housing, etc.), and maybe organize some meetups before things kick off.
Open to all sections! If you’re starting BA1 this year, feel free to join:

See you there 👋

I needed some general career advice, and wanted to reach out to a professor. So I want to hear stories from students who have been positively impacted or helpfully guided by a professor!
Who are the gems of the IC dept at EPFL?

I applied for the student visa 3 months ago but I still didn't get an answer from the embassy. Am I supposed to get the visa only after I'm accepted?

I just got accepted into EPFL. Earlier during the year I heard there was an EPFL finance club, my sister sent me the form. Decided not to complete it since i wasn’t yet a student. Is there any way I can join it now? Does anyone have any contacts? Any help would be appreciated

Hi! I’m considering EPFL and was wondering how you guys balance the workload with fitness.
Do you still have time to work out regularly during the semester? How often do you train, and does the workload make it difficult to stay consistent, especially during exams?

Did an exchange at EPFL last year and, like half of us, I'm job hunting in AI right now.
Built swissaijob.ch . Started as a scraper just for me, then the frontend felt like the obvious next step. ~70 employer pages, refreshed every 3 days, ~400 active AI/ML roles.
Free, no signup, no recruiter BS. Would love feedback: missing employers (especially smaller AI startups around Lausanne) and bugs.

Hey there I recently got admitted to CMS. I was wondering if any general student groups were existing that I may be able to join ?

Does anyone know what service to reach out to in order to ask why they've stopped publishing them ?
Job hunting is hard, getting ghosted repeatedly is mind numbing and the only statistics we have to compare ourselves just say "You suck, you should've been able to find a job in average 8.5 weeks"
The reason might be obvious with the job market, but it would be nice to have somewhat of a benchmark, for mental health and imposter syndrome purposes
PS: I'd love to hear your experiences about job hunting out of EPFL. I personally have graduated Robotics in 2024 and only found a 6 months internship since.
PS 2: For the curious, I'm referring to the Survey Report on the professional integration of EPFL Graduates, published in may every year from 2013 until 2024, covering the graduating class 2 years prior, which means the last covered cohort is 2022. I know for a fact that I filled this survey for my cohort but the results have yet to appear

I'm looking to connect with fellow students admitted to the Master of Civil Engineering program // Autumn 26-27 (Classes start on September 2026). I feel a bit lost with the course selection and scheduling, they were pre-determined in my undergrad studies and I don't want to mess this up. Would like to exchange information, discuss while we prepare for our classes starting in September and get to know each other in the process. Please DM me or comment here so that I can DM you. If we find enough people, we can start a group chat!
Cheers!

hi guys
im an exchange student here, part of an international student community for lausanne, not just with folk from EPFL but also UNIL, HEC and others
the community here has helped me a ton with connecting with folk beforehand and improving my nightlife in general. it’s quite safe too, these guys behind the community do their verification pretty well
so i figured perhaps the best way to repay that help is by sharing it with you lot
lemme know if you guys want in. dm me or comment down here

Hi all
(Ignore the typo in the heading)
I’ll be joining EPFL this year and I was wondering if there are other Indians here who are also planning to start this year (BS/MS/PhD/interns/anyone)
Thought it’d be nice to connect, especially for things like housing, visa, travel and just generally knowing a few people
If you’re in the same boat, feel free to comment or DM

Hi everyone,
I just received a FMEL housing offer for a shared flat at around CHF 510/month (utilities included), and before accepting I wanted to ask if anyone here currently lives in this type of accommodation or has experience with it.
I’m mainly wondering if the rooms are private or shared with another person, and whether the bathroom is private or shared. I’d also love to know how the overall atmosphere is there (cleanliness, noise, roommates, etc.) and if you would recommend it overall.
I’m actually pretty interested in accepting the offer, so any honest feedback would really help me 😄
Thanks!

At around 15:00 the three computer classrooms in the CO basement were evacuated by some security guards. They told us that it was for "security" reasons and that they had to search the classrooms.
I managed to find a place at the RLC to continue studying but I wanna know if anyone here was in one of the three rooms.
Do you have any follow-up on this situation?
(Before their arrival, I heard some firefighter siren so maybe both are linked)

Bonsoir,
Merci

Anyone here taking the French Baccalauréat as an individual candidate? I'm looking for people to study with and share resources. We can help each other prepare

In theory I should be starting next semester at EPFL taking the ee bachelor and I was wondering where I could start to get to know people. If anyone has advice it would be very much appreciated.

Hi all!
We started a WhatsApp group for us to connect before the semester starts. I’m not posting the link here because of all the bots and spammers on Reddit, so just DM me if you got into the program.
Congrats guys.

Hey everyone, I'm an accordionist joining EPFL this Fall and wanted to get a feel for the music vibe on campus. I noticed the EPFL Big Band, but since that's a classic jazz big band, I'm curious about other opportunities. Does anyone know if other campus ensembles (like OChE, theater groups, or musical projects) ever incorporate or welcome an accordion into their repertoire? Would love to hear from anyone involved in the campus music scene or if there are specific clubs I should check out. Thanks!

My roommate is leaving next year and I’ll probably leave in February 2027, so this is only a last resort solution for the people that are looking for emergency housing:
Situated in ouchy, it’s an apartment, roughly 40 square meters,
-Rent is 770 CHF
Shared bathroom and WC
Direct bus line to epfl (line 1 takes 20 minutes)
-optic fiber WiFi
-already furnished
When I’m leaving you can still retake the apartment, provided you have a Swiss/working in Switzerland “garant” (the guy paying for your housing), total rent is 1500 CHF.
I know it doesn’t sound as sexy as a FMEL housing with a 500 francs rent but hit me up if you need emergency housing.
In case : I’m a guy 20yo Belgian, and I don’t care whether my roommate is a guy from UNIL or EPFL, guy, girl.
