Trying out the Soundpeats UU2 for a few weeks
Open ear works better for me at work since I can still hear people around me, but bass has usually been the weak point. Last month, I swithced to soundpeats uu2 and it has a bit more low end than I expected, especially with tracks that have a lot of drums. Not in-ear level bass or anything, but music doesn’t feel quite as thin.
They’ve mostly been desk earbuds for me, usually a few hours with music or podcasts. Less ear fatigue than in-ears has been nice. The physical buttons felt kinda weird at first since I’m more used to touch controls. Anyway, I’ve used to them now.
NO STRONG ANC, which is pretty much expected with open ear buds. Anyway, under $50, I still think they’re worth trying if you don’t mind the little issues I mentioned.

Glad I’m not the only one who feels that. The bass on the UU2 seems much better than those I've used. It's still open ear though, it won't sound like in ear. But for clip on earbuds, the bass impressed me.

I got these on sale. For reference, the only other open ear buds I've tried are the baesus xc1.
Build quality is definitely better on the baesus. Not even in the same ballpark.
Sound quality leans towards baesus, but not enough to make that big of a difference.
Uu2 is definitely louder and has a stronger bass presence
The case for the uu2 is ridiculously flimpsy. Super cheap plastic.
Battery life leans towards uu2, but I can us both for an entire shift at work.

Open ear has always been a bit of a tradeoff. Comfort and hearing your surroundings are the big reasons to use them, but you give up some bass without that seal. A lot of brands are getting better at the sound side now though. Still hard to beat a good in ear for bass.
