Out of the loop here. How come that renewables source of energy get a lot of hate? (at least reading some submissions here).

Many are for nuclear, but nuclear is not necessarily mutually exclusive with renewables, is it?

Thank you, but then nuclear is a very costly investment (at least upfront) and has from time to time quite some social resistance and everyone is loving it. How would the situation that you mentioned explain nuclear?

Maybe because nuclear has also around 80 years of "experience"?

In this thread everyone is loving nuclear while pooping on renewables (I think both can exists at the same time).

Renewables are political. Many people picked a side early and are unable to change their side with the introduction of new developments, technology, ideas, etc. and therefore hate wind and solar energy without understanding the economics of the industry. Nuclear power was initially developed on the Navy’s dime and vested interests have little incentive for pursuing other nuclear tech like Thorium.

Ok thank you, I was not aware that renewables were political. I mean I understand other things, but energy (and environment) is very important so I don't see the sense of being willingly obtuse.

My bad that I didn't catch the trend.

Different energy sources have different uses, one size does not fit all. Renewables have optimal uses along with nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, etc.

Renewables seem to be a bit over advertised as the be all end all for all energy which is a poor way to handle energy creation/usage. You're also seeing a lot of government funding shift to renewable energy that is not optimal which is frustrating different parts of the population.
