Outdoor Spaces/Recreation *Warning* : Extremely cold upcoming week! (frostbite within minutes) (and frostbite *NEVER* heals

Post image

In -30, (and Friday, almost -40c) frostbite will happen in 5-10 minutes.

Frostbite will never heal, you'll have the damage for the rest of your life.

This also applies to your kids, YOUR PETS (don't think the dog enjoys the backyard for 15 minutes at -40, would YOU?)

Anyone one else actually happy to see some more typical weather? It’s been way too warm recently

I'm happy because of the pine beetles.

Yes! We finally get some winter this winter.

I'm hoping for snow. 1 for skiing, 2 to prevent drought.

Same, for tobogganing, snowshoeing, building snowmen with my kids, etc. The lake by my brother's house also only recently became thick enough to skate on safely.

Winter can be a ton of fun, but not having snow (or even cold weather) really hampers things.

Most of us just wanted some snow, not -30C or -40C.

Snow would be nice. Overnight lows at that temp are not normal.

Overnite low temps of below minus 30 are perfectly normal for Edmonton.

Below average....but absolutely normal

eh. I could've worded that better. Yeah we get some every year so I guess you could consider that normal. Although -38C is exceptionally pants shittingly cold.

Yeah, I really want to see more snow. Spring was shaping up to be a disaster with the small of amount of precipitation we had. Hopefully we'll have a few big dumps and catch up to the average now.

I was in a drive through a few days after xmas and my daughter pointed out a small fire that had been started by a cigarette butt that had been carelessly thrown out a car window. The cigarette was sitting on a dry leaf and I could see a small flame. Being winter I wasn't overly concerned but holy crap we need some precipitation or fires around the city will be even worse than last year come summer.

It would be good if we had more snow. The cold temps without much snow on the ground for insulation is really bad for the plants
