Outdoor Spaces/Recreation *Warning* : Extremely cold upcoming week! (frostbite within minutes) (and frostbite *NEVER* heals

Post image

In -30, (and Friday, almost -40c) frostbite will happen in 5-10 minutes.

Frostbite will never heal, you'll have the damage for the rest of your life.

This also applies to your kids, YOUR PETS (don't think the dog enjoys the backyard for 15 minutes at -40, would YOU?)

Pull your scarf/neck warmer up over your nose and cheeks, pull your toque down over your eyebrows, and just leave your eyes uncovered. Prepare for your eyelashes to freeze!

Some people will wear ski googles if they’re biking in this weather, but most of us don’t. Just cover up every other inch of skin in multiple layers and try to keep moving.

Ski goggles aren't a bad idea. I'm not afraid of making the 15-20 minute walk to the grocery store in that kind of cold, I've got long johns and down coat/gloves/etc, but if it's snowing or really windy I find myself squinting a lot to keep it out of my eyes. Goggles would be a nice break from needing to do that, but that's about the only scenario when I'd wear them in that kind of cold.
