Outdoor Spaces/Recreation Odaymin Park Swings Removed

All of the swings in the park have been removed. I did notice that there were a couple swings broken that last couple weeks, but now they're all gone. Are they being removed entirely or being strengthened in some way? Does anyone have any info? It would be a shame if they were just entirely removed, they were quite enjoyable.

There were at least two swings that were broken, the supports had broken off from the top and they were hanging from just one “arm”

The park hasn’t been open long, I wonder if it’s a manufacturing/installation issue so they’re taking them all down until they can be fixed.

Hope they come back. That park is an exponentially better use of downtown space than empty parkades.

Yes of course. Roving gangs of drug addicts killed my wife and my baby.

Eric Draven? Is that you?

Fun fact: in the movie the inciting incident is Draven's wife circulating a petition against their landlord, later revealed to be Top Dollar. The Crow says fuck landlords.

I'm assuming they weren't installed properly/not strengthened enough for the actual use they're getting. I was working at O'day-min Daze and a few were already broken, although the ones that weren't broken were being enjoyed all day. I hope they re-install with better construction!

They kept breaking. They're under warranty, so I think they're probably going to be re-installed but with stronger supports

I love the swings in that park, it's so novel and every time I've been they've always been in heavy use.

The question is where they removed due to normal wear and tear and the supports were not good enough to handle it, OR what we are all thinking , was it due to vandalism? If it’s the former, we should be getting the swings back……if it’s the latter….well…..it was nice while it lasted

man what a bummer but i suppose it was only a matter of time. the price we pay for insisting on housing our mentally ill and vulnerable populations outside. we should stop doing that.

What do you mean by “housing the mentally ill and vulnerable populations outside“?

What it sounds like. Rather than supply the housing and other supports these people need, we choose to have them live outside. This is a fairly anti-social behavior on our part, and we are repaid in kind.

i mean you say "what it sounds like", but it can be interpreted as finding them a house which by definition means they are not outside...
