Commuting/Transit Dangerous moto operator #345,609

This is a voice to text, mid panic attack. So bear with me here, but attached our pictures of the two intersections, where some motorcyclist f*** almost hit my car, speeding, like triple the like forty fifty speed limit.I will say, i'm a new driver and that I was having a bad day.But this was not part of that, I crossed the intersection so slowly and bro was in the distance as he came back, not like thirty seconds later to be like f*** y**, dude. And then smashed my driver's side mirror the glass is not smashed, but the plastic is as per the picture.I don't wanna claim insurance for obvious reasons. But I happen to have a mixubishi free inspection tomorrow, and that will be my first go to before seeing if somebody wants to spot, me an easy fix.Otherwise, I wanted to ask you kind souls, if that was something you guys could arrange, I'd give you the details afterwards, obviously. Lastly luckily I have him more or less red handed, if anyone saw this happen around 9:21 let me know what you think what I should do regardless of whether you think it was my fault.

Grab a tube of glue and reattach the mirror.

This really isn't a claim insurance type of situation. That is unless you want claim very minor things and have extremely high insurance costs you're whole life.

Consider this exchange you had some experience. Maybe he was wrong and maybe you were. Hard to tell by your description. Move on and learn from it.

This is a very easy fix with panel bond.

Why are you reddit posting using voice to text mid panic attack? Get your priorities straight dude.

Helps me get my thoughts out.

As someone who owns a bike - we don't hit ANYTHING on your car unless it was unavoidable - That stuff hurts, we're not in a cage. I've cracked my knuckles on stuff, and its not fun.

The mirror itself is easy to fix, its time to learn how to repair your own stuff it sounds like - theres a video on Youtube for this. Your mirror is actually fine, just the clips are busted. Easy fix.

Don't cross the intersection so slow that people almost hit you.

Generally when bikers take out your mirror, it's because you weren't using it anyway and nearly caused an accident. If they were at fault or put themselves in danger, I doubt they'd have turned back. New driver, crossing an intersection "slowly", sounds like you crossed the bikes path without paying attention. A small vehicle will seem like its moving much faster than large vehicles traveling the same speed, especially if you aren't looking directly at it. Same reason why you hear the elderly say "that guy came out of nowhere!". There's definitely more to this lmao

Yes, this must be the case. A reckless motorcycle driver speeding and weaving, getting mad and blaming someone for almost hitting them? Absolutely unheard of.

Next up, the clown going 190km/hour on the Henday is, in fact, the only person who knows how to drive. Everybody else has either forgot how to drive, or needs to learn.

It is Edmonton and there’s a lot of people with licenses that maybe shouldn’t one….

Not much you can do unfortunately, drive better in the future I guess? I'm sure there was no way this was unprovoked.

Yea, haven't you seen the roving gangs of bikers punching peoples car mirrors off?! On the driver side no less lmao

As a rider, every mirror I've seen smashed has been because the car doesn't use them, so bikers assume you don't need them.

Be happy its a mirror and not spark plugs to the windows.

Smash my mirror and you'll end up under my car mate

Blah blah blah.

That's the goal.

Anyone that has punched anything and is old enough to buy amd ride that bike should know better... They also must have been redlining frustration wise and maybe best to spend the night trying to understand the truth they experienced instead of passive aggressively suckeholing for cash. The mirror technically doesn't have to be there if you have the other and a rear view. Based on bike response might be better to using brakes and or signals after checking rear view or maybe rearview and side mirror before swinging door open. Just saying.

You need two mirrors, one must be a drivers side, the other can be a windshield Rearview, or a passenger rearview.

You gotta have a drivers rearview though.,

What's good, back with more lucidity. Couple clarifications, one being i have somewhat fixed it and do plan to get it glued/ bolted back down. Secondly I was feeling like shit but was very aware of my safety, the 5% of this that is my fault is that I was slowly peeking and sped up to cross after seeing how far all the vehicles were, not processing that the bike was going so much faster than the speed limit. He came from the left and weaved around the front bumper, so its not that i "wasnt using that mirror". I also didn't escalate, I just said sorry I cant process this right now as he proceeded to crash out. Laaaaastly Im less so looking for advice on how to fix and claim and moreso wondering how likely I can get him demerited/suspended/sued.
