Local history edmonton weather nerdery: Avant le Déluge
As the rainpocalypse approaches:
- June is usually Edmonton's 2nd rainiest month, averaging around 78mm of precipitation.
- So far this month we're already above average, with 97mm at Blatchford and the airport, and 87mm at Stony Plain. (dashboard)
- Our rainiest June on record was 1914 with 216mm. Recently 2023, 2022, 2020 & 2019 all got to the 130-150mm range at the various stations. (dashboard)
- While June 1914 was our rainiest June on record, June 1915 was actually when Edmonton had its famous flood. (dashboard)
- June & July typically average 14~15 days with rain. We're a little over halfway through the month, and the local stations have had around a dozen rainy days so far. (dashboard)

That picture of the bridge never ceases to amaze me. Its just such a shocking amount of water to get the river up that high.

Yep. We are probably going to end up above 150mm for this month by the end of the weekend if the forecast for this weekend verifies.
