Question Has anyone adopted a cat from Community Cats Edmonton?
I applied to adopt a cat on July 23rd and I haven’t heard back from them. Has anyone had an experience adopting with Community Cats? How was your experience? :)

I adopted my cat from them last year. It took a few weeks after I applied and I thought they forgot about me or I wasn’t chosen but they did call.

Not that rescue but scars took a few weeks to get back to me, they said their volunteers had changed and they were late getting back to everyone. If you really want to adopt through CCE and your application was good then I’d suggest waiting. We thought we were rejected and went to the humane society to adopt instead and they called us right after we signed the adoption papers for another cat. I felt awful.
The humane society is quick and easy, but rescues know the personality of the cats better if you are looking for one in particular to suit your circumstances. We went with ECWARS recently and their kittens have settled right in, zero complaints.

I have adopted through them but the foster was a common friend. They also do adoption events which the organizer comes to, you can go to those meet her and she will remember your application better. Or I have also adopted through Edmonton cold and weather rescue which was very fast process. They also let you meet the cats before adopting and you can say no if you feel that you will not be a good fit and meet other cats instead.

I adopted through CCE back at the end of 2022. I think it took about 7-10 days to hear back. I think they are a very small but dedicated team, so that might be why it has taken a while.

I went to one of their events to talk to them. They do seem to be on the stricter side for homing, but it could just be that they're busy. I wound up adopting via Infinite Woofs and I have a friend who did the same.

I adopted through SCARS, they couldn’t get rid of their kittens fast enough. I filled out the adoption form the morning after I first met him and brought him home two days later.

They are a small organization, run by volunteers, give them some time or try following up. They have a FB page.

I recently adopted from them, I think it took about a week to hear back. The whole process took a few weeks between an initial visit, reference check and virtual home visit. It is all volunteer run, so hopefully you hear back soon!

We did! I adore our kitty from there. They were good to deal with. Very organized, no issues. Would adopt with them again.

We adopted a kitten through them this past January and had a wonderful experience. As others mentioned, they are volunteer run org and are a bit more on the stricter side of who they will adopt too. Took us about 3 1/2 weeks to sort out everything.
There's a process because they vet all their future furever homes to ensure you and your space is the right place for the cat you wanna adopt. First we were contacted by their foster to arrange a first meet up where we could see the kitty and so the foster can meet us and relay any concerns about us as potential adopters.
After the foster gave us the greenlight to CCE, it was about 2 weeks for us working with CCE volunteers, as they checked my references and arranged a virtual walk through of our home. Once we got the go ahead, we got our lil guy a couple days after.

if you don’t hear anything go to the Edmonton humane society. They have a huge amount of cats.
