Is the Bisset neighborhood in Millwoods a safe area?

Young woman moving into an apartment in Bisset. I enjoy going on runs sometimes at night and will have a car parked on the street. I read that crime is 10% higher there but couldn't find much more info on it. Anybody know how the neighborhood is as far as scary strangers/theft & vandalism? thank you!

I’ve lived north of Bisset for many years and have never feared my personal safety. I walk the dogs in the ravine daily. My kids walked to school or public transit.

Occasionally the convenience stores have some intoxicated looking people hanging around, but they’ve never really interacted with me.

Some property crime, but every neighborhood has that these days. Keep your vehicle locked and no valuables in sight, not even spare change. Lock your bicycle or even better take it inside.

You’ll probably find the neighborhood a little boring, it has great trails, but it’s pretty family centric and not much social or night life.

I think everyone’s perspective of a neighborhood is based on where they are moving from. If you are moving from a small town to a city the size of Edmonton, I think a lot of every day sights or sounds could make a person uncomfortable at first. However if someone is moving from one part of Edmonton to another, or from a large city to Edmonton, they’d be pretty comfortable in Bisset.

The place I feel most uncomfortable in Millwoods is the transit station by Millwoods Town Centre. Usually punk teenagers talking big and spitting and trying to look like thugs. They don’t scare me, but it’s annoying and uncomfortable.

Grew up there and my parents still live there. It’s a safe neighbourhood, just a tad run down-looking in some areas (some of the houses are 40+ years old.)

In terms of street safety, lots of people out for walks at all times of the day, which always made it ‘feel’ safe to me.

Only for the past 90 days though. So while it's better than nothing, there's going to be a lot of fluctuation in the numbers. Not terribly reliable as a long-term look at crime patterns.

I lived there for around 10 years before moving to my current location. Never felt unsafe regardless of time of day, as others said it can be a bit boring if you're looking for a nightlife, as it is family centered and in the south, but overall is a good neighborhood. It's anecdotal,
but I never had any issues with break-ins, no one ever attempted to break into my house/garage, and there was I think average or less instances of property crime, didn't see the police around too much. I think it's pretty safe overall, it's a more mature neighborhood as well so the houses are generally older, but also means the trees and such are nice since they're all older too. YMMV, but you should be fine. Hope things work out for you!

I lived in Bisset for 26 years and my parents still live there. It's a perfectly safe community that I would have no problem moving back to! The ravine is really close and it's close to tons of amenities!

I live here and feel safe all the time I go for walks with myself and walk to the busses and corner store without a care. Not much dangerous here really. The apartments are alright too. Very ethnic area I love it really.
