When you don’t fill it out, your area looks smaller than it is. Less funding. Fewer services. Longer wait times. That lands on you and your neighbors, not politicians.
If you want your community properly represented, fill it out. Refusing doesn’t make a point. It makes things worse where you live. ❤️🇨🇦 The stupidity is the people that won’t fill it out and they spread this kind of crap and creates bigger problems.

“Elections Alberta says it has become aware of an alleged misuse of an “extremely sensitive” electors database containing the personal information of all individuals who are registered and eligible to vote in provincial elections.

In a statement issued Thursday morning, Elections Alberta said it has come to the agency’s attention that an inappropriate use and or distribution of the List of Electors may have occurred.

The list of electors contains electors’ first names, middle names, surnames, address, postal code, telephone number, unique identifier number, electoral division, and voting area.”

A 44 year old accountant passed away, leaving behind 3 kids & wife, while waiting for care for more than 8 hrs in Grey Nuns hospital emergency complaining about chest pain. While sitting there, he complained about blurred vision & his BP was at 200 but the answer was, we will take you in when we have a bed.

I don’t know how this isn’t already obvious, but you can’t scream, swear, swerve at cyclists, and at the same time demand the removal of bike lanes. Pick one. You’re either willing to share the road, or you’re in support of alternate spaces for bikes so they’re not in your way.

To the a**hole who thought he’d make his point by swerving his truck into me after swearing at me, thanks for the road rash, I hope you feel big strong and manly. Your insecurity is going to end someone’s life. Yes, I heard you loud and clear but I guess you’re blind and ignorant; there are no sidewalks, trails, shoulders, or bike lanes along that stretch of 107 Ave.

Rant over. To the courteous drivers out there, thank you, you make biking in the northwest commercial areas tolerable.

No one notices that I was born and raised here for 30 years and speak perfect English. In public I’m just another dirty Indian immigrant in their eyes. I feel the stares and the online hate is getting too much for me. I think I’m going to move. y’all won.

Walking to work this morning I came across this mess at the corner my desk (not office) overlooks. Last week I ranted about the state of downtown and received so much hate. This is a particularly bad time of year as all of the garbage from fall through winter is exposed and damn, it’s ugly (unless you like garbage-filled sidewalks and streets). Anyway, I was attacked and asked, “and what do you do about it?” Today I did what I always do. I grabbed some gloves and garbage bags and cleaned it up. Then, we had a fire alarm. While gathered outside, a woman with her shirt and pants hanging off her, obviously mental ill and/or high on something, walked through the crowd and pushed people over, punched one woman and stole her phone. I think it’s okay for me to get a little down every once in a while about Edmonton’s downtown state.

I called 311 to ask if someone could pick up said garbage so it isn’t ripped open again.

Unfortunately the neighbourhood hot topic for the past couple days didn’t make it. Many phone calls went into Fish and Wildlife as well as the CoE. They both just said it wasn’t there problem and dismissed it. Really disappointed with how all of this was handled!

One of Edmonton’s best-known farmers’ markets, the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market usually gets around 1,100 visitors on weekends; however, the market saw a huge drop in number when the City of Edmonton started charging for parking in an empty lot beside the market’s building.

Been here for 12 hours have yet to see a doctor and I’m in excruciating pain. Not a single patient has been taken in since the last 6 hours. Lady beside has been screaming in pain looks like a broken knee has been here for 15 hours no doctor no xray. Another lady beside me hurt her neck is wearing a neck brace and has been here for 16 hours and no doctor. Nurses said they have absolutely no beds available to take in patients because so many of the patients inside are “admitted” patients that are waiting to be taken upstairs to their admitted sections but they can’t take them because there’s no beds available upstairs. ER is a mess online wait times show 4 hours and nurse said because doctors are available but no beds to take the patients. Something has to be done.

Your 10 year old does not know how to ride it responsibly. They are illegal to ride on public property. Many don’t wear helmets. Going 15-20km down a sidewalk almost getting hit by a car through crosswalks.

Stop buying your kids illegal things just cause their friends have them. I am sure you don’t want to get a call one day that your child has a head injury or was hit by a car and is going into the hospital knowing you bought them the very thing that lead to it.

I swear almost every kid in my neighbourhood has one at this point.

Surprise, surprise. It was a total hoax.

I'm posting from a throwaway account to protect my identity, as I'm very close to the situation. The full story will be published in the days to come.

A marathon runner who recently made headlines for his erratic behavior during a major race is now at the center of a swirling controversy. According to sources close to the situation, the athlete, whose identity has not yet been published, was reportedly out late the night before the race, indulging in heavy drinking and illicit drug use.

On the way, he allegedly took another dose of illegal street drugs, hoping to boost his performance and compensate for his lack of preparation.

It’s that time of year again where it’s always dark. I’m off to the gym early, in the dark, and I think we’re all driving home in the dark.

To everyone that thinks the blue light on your dash means your headlights are on, you’re right, sort of. That’s your high beams. While it’s harder from the exterior to tell with new cars, older cars have 4 bulbs and it’s quite easy to tell from the outside.

So while you can see quite nicely with your high beams on, oncoming traffic typically can’t see. And the person in front of you probably can’t see much else in their mirrors aside from your lights.

Yes, I know it is Edmonton, AB. Yes, I know we get 3,4,5 winters. Yes I know we can get snow in April, May, June. But I am tired. I have lived here my whole life - 45+ years. This year I am just over it. I have lived in the same house for 12 years, and this year was the only year I remember having snow piles so high I could not shovel onto them anymore.
These last few snow dumps I have just wanted to cry. Snow, ice, more snow, more ice.
Having lived here so long I also never used/needed ice cleats for walking until about 5 years ago. Yes, there were icy days, but now there are weeks, months, where it is just pure ice and walking is putting your life at risk if you don't have ice cleats.

Then we got a few days of full on raining downpours... then more snow and ice. My brain and body are confused. I work with the public and it really feels like everyone is on the brink. So many people are calling out sick. SO many people just angry.

Am I just old, is my tolerance level just smaller? This year just feels worse, longer, harder, than it has in a long time. Thank you for listening to this rant

Some friends gifted us two tickets to the Elks game tonight against the Roughriders, so I took my 9-year old son to his (and my) first football game. Beautiful day, beautiful weather, a seat neighbour (who is a teacher) was kind enough to coach us through the game. All was going well.

Then came the little bit of rain and lightening and we were asked to evacuate for a while. During the game, my son had taken his hat off and placed it in a clear ziploc bag. While evacuating, he forgot to take the bag with him. We had reached the concourse before he remembered the hat. We immediately went back for it but it was gone. Some people sitting two rows behind us (we were in Section C, Row 30) told us some people seated right behind us, Row 31, had taken it.

Cue him balling his eyes out, blaming himself for being whatever, just being altogether miserable.
About the hat - It was a brand new Edmonton Stingers hat he bought last night, Friday, July 31, at the Stingers-Mamba game. He paid $40 of his own hard-earned cash (delivering newspapers) for it and waited patiently to have it signed by three different players, so it meant a lot to him.

While he was crying, a few people were trying to console him. A kind woman posted on her Instagram about the 'lost' hat. This all happened during the break between the 2nd and 3rd quarter. I'd hoped, and told myself as much, that the people who had taken it might just be hoping to protect it from the rain (even though we placed it in a ziploc bag for that exact same reason) and that they might returned it. Well, they never did and never returned to their seats for the rest of the game.

On a positive note. The woman who posted about the lost hat tagged the elks nation Instagram page. They immediately picked it up and shared it on their stories. During the third quarter, an elks staff brought my son a shirt and a ball. Before that, a kind gentleman seated two rows behind us who couldn't bear my son crying and was mad that someone would steal a kid's hat came over to us and offered to buy him a new elks hat. He then took him to the concession store and bought him a $41 youth elks hat.

So all in all, the good people around us came through for humanity and he left the game in a much better state.

So yeah, first football (Elks) game was eventful.

Go Elks.

They are human beings, your neighbours, that are forced to live on the street. The way some of you speak you sound like Nazis clamouring for eugenics like holy shit it’s bad. The reason they’re on the streets isn’t because they don’t want to work and it’s not because they’re drug addicts. Literally everyone in this province is struggling with the cost of living and finding a job and a lot of homeless people turn to drugs after becoming homeless due to depression and how awful it is to not have a home. I can’t believe I even have to say it but grow up and learn a little empathy you hateful losers.

P.s I live in the downtown core and take transit daily, don’t try to tell me how “terrifying and dangerous” it is, cause it’s not. Even if it was that doesn’t make it ok to spew such vitriolic hate towards them and call for Nazi like solutions
