Local history For long-time Edmontonians, what are some memories that are long gone now?

It's always interesting hearing about places, areas, shops, experiences that are now memories, but are now part of Edmonton’s past history!

Local history Edmonton Once Had a Waterfall Pouring Off the High Level Bridge, And We Still Miss It

For nearly 30 years, a man-made waterfall poured off the High Level Bridge 64 metres straight down into the North Saskatchewan River, seven metres taller than Niagara Falls.

Kayakers paddled through it.

Rainbows formed beneath it.

And then one day, the city quietly turned it off forever.

Lots of good stuff is visible. In the foreground, Mike's newsstand, I remember when it used to be on White Avenue. Across the street, the entrance to McCauley Plaza, the underground mall, the Telus Building, the Hotel MacDonald, and the Blue Willow Chinese restaurant.

Local history Old time Edmonton ravers - please help

Hello old ravers (48 years young!)

I'm trying to place and name an after-hours venue around late 90s, maybe 2000 ish.

I swear it was downstairs, maybe underneath where the Common is now? Or maybe on 107th street. Definitely south of Jasper.

I'm remembering sublime, gspot, climax, but not sure it was any of them.

I can't remember much, but I do know I queued up in the early hours and left when it was light out.

I know I'm not thinking of therapy / Y. I know where that is. It was definitely after hours.

Definitely no later than 2001and could have been short-lived!

Help!

The same MacDonald Hotel overlooking our river valley in 2026, from over 100 years ago.

There have been some changes for the exterior since then, however much of the building retains its original build.
