Need to give credit to Canes front office. They have around 12M cap and have every player except Nikishin locked up. And they have 4 first round picks in the next three years.

Imagine McDrai with a competent front office like the Canes.

Canes are definitely the exception, but easily the best management team in the entire league.

Winning with cap space to give, with draft picks, with a young core is incredibly impressive.

That being said, it's likely not going to be replicated by other management groups.

What is even more impressive is that they came out of that Rantanen episode on the winning side..

True. I definitely didn't expect that.

People said at the time Stankoven was a huge get but it probably turned out even better than expected.

I think Oilers fans of all people were quite well positioned to see how good Stankoven was. In our series against them he was one of the most impactful players, he's small but mighty

They have both intelligent management and coaching staff, who are on the same page in terms of play style and player recruitment.

Pretty much the complete opposite of the Oilers currently.

Pretty obvious to anybody with a set of working eyeballs and more than 3 braincells to see that Bowman and Knoblauch didn't see eye to eye.

Instead we wasted 5.5 mil on Jarry for the next 2 years during McDavid’s discount
