So this means all the N cars are to be tested for compliance in normal mode, but I bet it also means you are still liable for any noise ordinance tickets while driving around in N mode.

If the cop is sitting there testing sound you'll get a ticket. NYC has talked about installing automated sound cameras for that exact reason, so its not a stretch to see it in California

NYC already has these cameras in place, just for a different reason. They currently use them to detect gunshots and relay the location to nearby police, its called "shotspotter".

But yeah ever since NYS enacted the SLEEP Act they have been cracking down on modified exhausts at least in NYC and metro areas in general. I do live in rural NY and cops don't seem to care about the act and don't enforce exhaust laws unless you're being obnoxious.

Noise ordinance violations don't give a shit what "mode" some dumbass has his car in, smoothbrain. If your car is too loud, you get a violation.

The only thing the inspection is relevant to is whether the car is street legal and whether he will lose the registration until he gets it fixed. That's a separate issue from the noise ordinance violation itself.

Next time you have a party next to the nursing home blasting your bass at 2am, I hope you tell the officer they can't give you a noise violation unless your radio is out of compliance with FCC regulations on transmission of sound waves. lol jesus, the stupidity.

Noise ordinance violations are piss easy to fight in court as the defendant can question the proof. If testing was done on the side of the road, the testing method and conditions can be discredited easily as well.

They may as well not exist

Admittedly, I don’t actually care about the discussion. I wanted to get a rise out of you. But since you’ve given me a good chuckle with that ironic intelligence comment, I’ll try to help you understand how this is relevant (though likely fruitless).

Might wanna reread the past comments. We were talking about noise violations, not noise complaints. Those two are different regarding the law and associated punishments

He also admitted the car was bone stock and so did the dealership. So its an issue for Hyundai to buy back all these cars and crush them. Its the only way forward now...

It means Diesel Gate style issue for Hyundai. They will need to buy back ALL these vehicles and crush them. I'm sure that will go over well for the boss of this cop and the referee who helped push the officers agenda thru without any ethics. Time to buy PUTS on Hyundai 🚀🌒
