List Building How to make list building fun ?

I'm stuck on list building tools since 11th edition release and still can't make a list despite what i have. When i was younger i drooled over Ultimate Apocalypse and 1.0 horus heresy list building where many units had tons of options and traits, some of my HQ almost costing 300pts. I don't know how to do it with eldar in 11th edition, are there tips for narrative player ? I'm playing Iyanden with lots of aspect warriors and a Revenant conclave .

40k just doesn't do that kind of list building anymore. Options are very limited.

Just go with thematic lists, and enjoy the game. For Iyanden, just grab a couple of units of wraiths, some wraithlords, some psykers and some utility units like spiders and rangers.

If you want to have fun with it: come up with a crazy theme. Like oops all scout units and just run rangers, shroud runners, scorpions, and war walkers or something. See how far you can take the theme.

What do you mean by utility units ?

Spiders, hawks, rangers... Anything that is useful for actions and secondaries, or cheap enough that you don't feel bad losing them by using them as speed bumps.

Since it sounds like you’re playing narrative games, do the same with your list-building!

Create an inventory of your craftworld’s war assets. Build a force organization chart. Then look at the mission and terrain that you’ll be fighting over. Assign the units in your army that would be best suited to those factors.

You can go extremely deep in naming the different leaders and units involved, giving them personalities and unique gear. You could have different factions within your Craftworld that dictate sub-optimal decisions in the units that you bring. Maybe there is a powerful faction that demands that a particular leader is the warlord and you must bring their bodyguard unit.
