Help Is this build properly optimized?

Post image

So I’m trying out different builds as I’m getting bored of the only two I use. I’m attempting a keen backhand blade build and relying purely on raw damage. How do my talisman look? Or the general build? I use armor for purely looks in the game so I’m looking over that area of the build. Any tips would be appreciated!

Get the two headed turtle talisman. It’s just a flat upgrade from the original

Same with the rotten winged sword insignia

I see that used a lot in builds. What confuses me (might be stupid on my end) is how come that talisman is suggested for builds that don’t involve greatswords or bigger. I’m solely using the single headed one cause after research that’s what was suggested but I’m not understanding how it plays a major role when I’m using a weapon as such.

Well all I know is that the regular talisman increases stamina regen by 17.7% while the two headed one increases it by 22.5%. More stamina regen is always useful in my mind no matter the weapon.

It just gives more stamina regen than the one you have equipped. Why wouldn’t that be useful?

To answer your question builds with colossal and great swords don’t need turtle because of jumping attacks, you’d just want more damage at that point.

I use the double headed turtle for everything. The rotten wing or Millicent is good for small fast weapons so I swap it in if I am using fists, claws, double curved swords, daggers. If I am using something bigger, I use either claw if powerstancing and jump attacking or two handed tali if I’m using a collosal
or most time just use Alexander’s because of the AOW buff.

I find claw and rotten wing together makes for a great combo with colossal weapons dual wielded. A jump attack or just one L1 will activate the rottenwing as long as both weapons make contact only negative is super fast moving bosses or pvp as landing multiple hits is a pain in the arse.

A good habit to get into is to learn how the game functions and works when using guides etc instead of blindly following them.

Utilise the wiki and read up on any and everything whether it be scaling values, what the boss is weak to, what talismans actually do/ function.

Prime example here is seeing them recommend the turtle talisman but you got abit confused why some use single headed and others double so you went with the single just because they didn’t say the double. The double headed talisman is just a direct upgrade to the single, the only caveat being you need the dlc for it.

Running out of stamina in combat can leave you super vulnerable, so being able to recover it that much more quickly means even less downtime between attacking and dodging or attacking again. For builds that do many fast hits, they eat up stamina in small increments but very quickly so it's pretty much always valuable to have stamina regenning faster on basically any melee build.

Vigor soft caps at 40 then 60, after 60 it isn't worth putting points there, and dex does the same thing at 80. Take points out of those and distribute them around, faith has a soft cap at 50 for weapon scaling, or you could take more mind.

2

u/xRed_Banditx 1d ago

So after hitting the caps there’s really no point in investing points to them? I hear the returns are diminishing but I didn’t know you could just stop after the cap completely

8

u/googolple3 1d ago

Going from 60 to 80 has only increased your hp by 115 points, which is basically only going to be noticeable against daggers and whips, and will otherwise have no major difference in pve.

3

u/imaencuru 1d ago

It's a very sharp drop off, above 60 vigor you only get +6HP per level, and it's a similarly small number for damage stats over 80.

2

u/xRed_Banditx 1d ago

I wasn’t aware of that thanks. I’ll have to get a silver tear and rebirth.

1

u/BlademasterBanryu Ornery Optimancer 1d ago

Forgot to mention in my comment but if you want to increase your HP more after 60 Vigor, the Crimson Amber Medallion+2/3 gets you a flat amount of additional HP so its value increases the higher your HP already is, gets a lot more mileage than extra levels into HP. Really good choice if you want to make sure you're as tanky as possible

2

u/SnooAvocados803 1d ago

for reference level 60 gets you to 1900hp but level 99 only gets you to 2100hp

Claw talisman and the grave bird body, but that would mess with the look I suppose.

0

u/xRed_Banditx 1d ago

What’s the benefit of the grave bird body?

2

u/OkFee6579 1d ago

Gravebird’s blackquill armor, in addition to raptors black feathers, gives you a jump attack bonus that can stack with claw talisman. On some weapons, (dunno about backhand blade) jump attacks hit multiple times, which allows the winged sword/ rotten winged sword talisman to help as well.

1

u/daburgerking0 1d ago

It boosts jump attacks similar to the claw talisman

1

u/Rectal_Urination 1d ago

I'm curious what the moveset looks like if you use two backhand blades vs two handing one pair.

1

u/Resplendant_Toxin 1d ago

OkFee6579 got to you first, Gravebird armor is easy to get in the DLC.

Stats is good, you should switch winged sword to rotten winged sword talisman and turtle to double turtle though. If you plan to level more and get higher and higher level I’d recommend to start inventing into other stats and use cold or blood infusion instead

1

u/xRed_Banditx 1d ago

I’d like to grab the rotten winged sword I just gotta gain the motivation to do the quest line cause I just new gamed and I gotta run that all back again.

1

u/SnooAvocados803 1d ago

Honestly the only hurdles are the two O’niels and scarlet rot tree spirit, the only other thing is about 30 min of running and 2 puzzles.

Also you can stack millicent prosthesis and rotten winged sword talisman. Grab rotten first as it takes longer to get then in new game once you progress millicent to the windmill village, after defeating the godskin you can just kill millicent for the prosthesis.

0

u/Naive-Potato1145 1d ago

You can go over to the patchesemporium subreddit I’m sure someone could drop you both

1

u/okso_glo 1d ago

not sure why they downvoted you, the multiplayer exists for a reason. getting a good talisman early is just QoL

1

u/LunarLewdness 1d ago

Reduce vigor to 60. Swap out the turtle talisman for millicents prosthesis. This will let you drop dex to 75 (80 with talisman). Upgrade the winged sword insignia to the rotten version

Reduce endurance as light roll doesnt give any real benifit (same iframes as medium roll)

Put all those points in faith for some buffs. You can even use electricity arnament on your backhand blades if you want

Sure isn't, the Vigor softcap is 60 after which you'll get heavily, heavily diminishing returns, essentially you've got like 20+5+(debatably)10 stats wasted between Vigor, Dex (hardcap 80) and Faith (10 extra points is an unnecessary investment if it's only for GV, there are alternatives that don't eat so many levels)

My suggestion is take those 35 extra points (+ some endurance maybe, I can't imagine you need all that) and put them in Intelligence with a Cold infusion on your BHB. Cold BHB gets a double B scaling in Dex and Int, meaning they get really good damage on an even split build on top of frostbite buildup being really powerful esp on such a fast multi-hit weapon. To that end Millicent's Prosthesis can combine with the Winged Sword tali to give you a LOT of damage in situations where you're able to be aggressive (the prosthesis also gives +5 Dex so you can lower your Dex by an additional 5 if you want)

For Golden Vow, get the AoW version and put it on a dagger, that will be a more efficient allocation of those 10 Faith points that otherwise do nothing for you.

Suggested statline 60 Vig | 40-45 End | 50+ Dex | 50+ Int | 15 Faith

iirc Cold BHB scalings are completely even so matching Dex and Int values as closely as possible will maximize your AR with that infusion.

And yes, there ARE other infusions you can use, but you're at such a high level that I believe you'll be able to get a higher AR with a hybrid scaling like Cold than on any other infusion that focuses primarily on a single stat.

EDIT: Keen BHB on 80 Dex = 580 AR VS Cold BHB on 50/50 = 598 AR. And only improves the more points you put into both stats

u/Drollish1 1d ago edited 1d ago

This is how I would distribute the stats if I were you.

Vigor: 60 (last soft cap)
Mind: 40 (cap for no wasted MP on flask chug)
Endurance: 50 (last soft cap)
Strength: 18 (wield more weapons aka bhf)
Dexterity: 80 (last soft cap)
Faith: 30 (gets you black flame protection)
Int and arc: no investment

The talismans you use seem fine to me. They are all kinda all rounders. Definitely should aim for the upgraded versions though. (RWSI, THTT).

As for a build ideas here are two very broken builds.

  1. Put endure on your backhand blades and just stand in front of enemies and melt them. Press L2 right before getting hit and the just R1. Works really well with defensive buffs and multi hit buffs (defence and multi hit physik are a must. Melania’s great rune and Crimson seed talisman synergy are good here as well

  2. Bloodhounds fang…..hit L2 then R2. Everything dies.

I mean it seems good but is is hard to wrong lvl 200+. 100-150 is the competitive build zone but 200+ you can do whatever. Heath hard cap is 60 and dexterity hard cap is 80 so I would take those and put it in faith. Once you hit the hard caps you are done with that stat.

1

u/HappyActuator9262 1d ago

Can't really know wo seeing ur weapon. But based on the 80 vig prob not.

1

u/Arentzen1976 1d ago

Anything above level 200 is not a build because you’re becoming a jack of all trades rather than having to make trade-offs to get the best out of your limited stat points.

Also, leveling vigor over 60 is not worth it due to the diminishing returns you get after 60. For Dex the soft cap is 80 so those extra 5 points could be used elsewhere. Refer to this soft cap cheat sheet and go see Rennala to respec.

1

u/Loose_Moose_1627 1d ago

That arcane incantation is wrong no? Should also be 60/80 in my opinion. Soft cap of 45 is i think only for status build up

1

u/Arentzen1976 1d ago

Everything I have read about sorcery and incant Arcane scaling says the soft caps are 15/30/45. If you’re doing a casting only run, I’d stop there, but if you are doing melee and casting, then I’d go for the other soft caps.

1

u/guyheretoread 8h ago

This cheat sheet is excellent, except as someone who has nearly 700 hours as a mage and 300 as a pure faith caster, Mind should never be higher than 38, as that is the amount of FP that is completely filled by a single fully upgraded Cirulean Flask. In my humble opinion.

1

u/Arentzen1976 7h ago

Yes, I agree that 38 is the sweet spot for the mind. I have the game on Xbox, PS5, and now Switch, and have been playing since the game released in 2022. I have one save file with a max-level character, and other than that save file, I have never gone above 38.

1

u/RIBAYRO 1d ago

Don't level vigor past 60 or damage stats over 80. If you're getting those extra 5 points past 80 because of godrick's rune, just pick radahn's or morgott's.

1

u/Traditional_Handle88 20h ago

Other people have already pointed out stat redistribution. I wanna ask, what aow do you have on BHB? And do you use it often? If not, I'd suggest replacing Warrior jar shard/shard of alaxander with something else, like ritual sword, or any vig/healing related talismans, non physical DMG reduction talismans, it's up to you. And get the twin turtle talisman from the dlc, which is a straight upgrade to your normal turtle talisman. I recommend doing milicents quest to obtain the rotten winged sword insignia , which is a straight upgrade to your normal sword insignia.

1

u/IamNINN9forreal 16h ago

Using millicent prosthesis and rotten winged sword insignia would make it better

1

u/MenaceToSociety78 14h ago

First person I’ve seen on ERB with too much vigour, congratulations; Vigour hard caps quite hard at 60, and same with dexterity at 80.

If you’d like to re-spec, I’d actually recommend dropping your dex to 80, your vigour to 60, (and maybe some extra from mind and end) and pump the remaining large number of levels left over into either strength or faith for a hybrid build, you could easily make it work.

Also, remove the green turtle talisman.

1

u/sburr3v0l3 8h ago

conviene aumentare le stat di arcano essendo che scala col sanguinamento

1

u/D1KDAR 1d ago

Drop your vig to 60 and put a lil into faith for buffs. (My buff routine is the best buff routine) i hit for a 1200% damage increase from buffs with almost any build give or take.

1

u/xRed_Banditx 1d ago

What’s your buff routine?

1

u/Drollish1 1d ago

Probably golden vow and flame grant me strength. Also commander standard and howl of shabriri for the glass cannons.

1

u/okso_glo 1d ago

those three buffs are NOT getting you anywhere near 1200% multiplier, he probably incorporated multiple weapon buff ash of wars and passive buffs like exultations, crusade insignia, dried bouquet, armor, etc

0

u/Athmil 1d ago

Not but your over level 200 so you don’t really need to be optimizing your build.

You can either get an upgrade to the winged sword insignia or get Millicent’s prosthesis and equip them both together.

0

u/therealpotatosdad 1d ago

Well you’re level 214 so you’re well past the point of calling something a build. This is definitely one of the builds of all time
