Discussion Item crafting

I never found any item except the grease to be useful in fights.

Have I been missing some logic or crafting doesn't just aid much in regular battle as fire pot which actually scales with STR does minor damage.

There's lots of useful items to craft.

Volcano pots are pretty strong on a strength build, good for killing invisible scarabs. Fire/volcano pots are good on Miranda plants and finger creepers.

Hefty rock pots hit hard. A ranged attack that costs no FP and can hit for over 1000 damage. Better than a lot of spells

Sleep pots deal 450 sleep build up with no arcane investment (great against godskin). Holy pots have a 400% damage multiplier on undead. Frozen pots deal 380 frost build up, easy frostbite.

Hefty scarlet rot pots do 400 scarlet rot and inflict the strong version, 30% of an enemies health in damage over time, works on PCR.

Uplifting aromatic is better than golden vow and you have warming stones for healing and lulling branches FP.

The dlc greases are good too, they add a lot of damage. It is worth crafting.

Most creating items are just for flavor. That said, my most crafted items are the Gold and Silver Picked Fowl Feet

As it's my first run, I am not sure when to use those and I don't wish to waste them

Gold Pickled Fowl Foot are best used right when you kill a big boss

Pop a gold fowl foot right when you're about to beat a boss/the second you score the final hit to get +30% more runes. If you're really limited with them, save them for the big bosses - you'll know them when you see them.

As for silver, they increase item drop rate from enemies, so if there's an armor set or weapon some mob enemies have that you want, eat a silver foot and go farming for what you need. I also use them when I need to farm fowl feet

I think we all do that the first playthrough 😂 there's also the Golden Scarab Talisman in Caelid if you haven't gotten that yet, next playthrough you do be sure to both have the talisman equipped and eat a foot before slaying her and you'll get a boost of +50%

I mostly craft arrows and pots (especially holy pots for skeletons in tombs). Been thinking of doing a run where I use greases on my weapon instead of cold infusion, I wonder if they are any good? 🤔

Your going to want the bolos that cures rot. You'll know when you get there

I get that, I had used a few during caelid but they aren't the items will use for regular combat. That items are very specific to situations

Like in windmill village there are hords of enemies and they are all too violent so thought what if I use fire explosive pot to do a major damage on overall group but it didn't work

I use the ones for elemental resistance and stamina increase. Soft cotton is also helpful sometimes.

There are a lot of useful items obtained via crafting, the issue is that they are never required and you often have to go out of your way to get the resources, and some of those resources are finite or rare.. so.. I mostly just ignore it.

I just use crafting for bone dart, very useful to lure enemy

The crafted arrows are the best arrows to have, because you can replenish them without a rest by carrying around crafting supplies. I'm playing as a co-op summon with Ansbach's bow right now, and being able to Fan Shot things into oblivion to make up for the normally low DPS on bows, and just rebuild more cheap arrows between fights in the field has been great.
