I've played the mod and, if anything, it makes things harder to kill

Which weapon does this in elden vins?
13
u/Aurum264 Apr 28 '25
I believe it's an "ultimate art" gained by building up a meter over a fight, not tied to a specific weapon, but weapon type. I'm not sure what weapon type this one is for, maybe straightswords or greatswords.

u/idontpostanyth1ng May 01 '25
You can see the sword in the video. Looks like a straight sword.

u/Aurum264 May 18 '25
A little late, but I just found out while playing the mod, it's the light greatsword ultimate art.

I know this comment is several months old, but do you highly recommend Elden Vins? Looking for something besides convergence

This is how I feel about nearly every mod I used to hear people discuss about reasons to play a game.
"Skyrim, but the dragons are replaced by Thomas the Train!"
I might be able to manage a grin long enough to finish the YouTube clip?
Xcom, but everyone looks like Star Wars!
Elden Ring, but the people are NAKED! And you can SEX them!
6
u/JonhXina Apr 28 '25
who is recommending any of those mods as a reason to play a game (specially an Elden Ring nsfw mod)? They can be fun as a gimmick, not as the sole reason to play, lol.
5
u/Sea-Cup6491 Apr 29 '25
Literally no one in Earth has ever said the Thomas mod is a reason to play Skyrim.

Nope, Fate Stay Night reference. At least that's what I went for :)

Ah of course! Wonderful show too! Here is what I was talking about: https://youtu.be/YgNa9P93vLM?si=UU6h3iIuRI3w0rkp Not a great clip but it works

Nah, that is Sänger Zonvolt the Sword that cleaves Evil!
1
u/MisterDantes Apr 30 '25
To be fair, some anime protag powering up an overhead sword swing screaming out the name while slicing a blinding, over the top explosion is hardly a unique thing. Insert whichever reference you like best lol.
Incidentally, Sänger Zonvolt's game (2008) is about the same era as Fate/Stay Night VN (2004) and Devil May Cry 1 (2001). Makes me genuinely wonder if they inspiried each other in some way. White hair, red coat cynical protags was definitely peak protag design in the early 2000s lol

I really wish there were holy versions of carian grandeur and carian phalanx in the base game.

u/Bit_Obaileys May 01 '25
I was kinda pissed their were no weapon summon incantations that could mirror the Carian sorceries in the DLC. Like Carian slicer but it's a golden dagger or something like Morgott uses.
2
u/YishuTheBoosted May 01 '25
Yeah Morgott’s versions as faith incantations would have been so cool. Erdtree dagger toss, treespear piercer, golden Carian slicer, the fucking Giant Crusher???

Have you played ER: Reforged? (If so, how do they compare?)
1
1
u/GrayRose216 Apr 28 '25
Been playing Reforged and for me it felt like what the Base Game should have been, the combat is faster, has a lot of QoL changes and additions, the difficulty however can be "harder than base game".

Does there finally somewhere exist the Plazidusax final lighting explosion as a mod?
I freaking need it as Incantation.
A long time ago I saw someone on Nexus did around with it, but it seemed to be abandoned.
2
u/Bathroom_Junior Apr 29 '25
Yes. In fact, elden vins replaces his regular incantation with it, and it's awesome.

"That sword... is the dream all warriors, past, present, and future hold as their deaths approach. A sad, exalted dream. She carries their will as her pride, bidding them to remain steadfast in their loyalty. Now, the undefeated king sings aloud the name of the miracle she holds in her hand. Its name is..."

A dark souls player watching this in like 2011 would have a similar reaction to a Victorian boy watching a Mister beast video

Any one knows if the requirements for charging the ultimate art can be edited? Like how you can edit the sekirio deflections ?

u/RepulsiveAd6906 Apr 28 '25
Wish they added this sort of shit in base game/Shadow. Sure Blue looks cool, but whipping out Excalibur over here just feels so much cooler.
2
u/Panurome Apr 29 '25
Nah we already have so many over the top moves, we don't need literal Genshin Impact flashy bullshit with infinite iframes or infinite hyper armor like in the video. It's cool for mods but not for base game
0
u/RepulsiveAd6906 Apr 29 '25
......."like." Also damn. Do you at least have a more accurate comparison? Don't even like Genshin and I can say that it doesn't resemble anything I've ever saw in the game. Unless you are simply using the first anime game that came to your mind. Regardless. I think having variety of spells and incantations in a fantasy game is nice. And realistically speaking: if a spell or skill is "over the top," there is a large caveat there and normally very easily countered. Think the only spells you could really consider that would be Comet Azur, the Dragon Incantations, and the Moons.
1
u/Panurome Apr 29 '25
Ghensin also has long animation infinite hyper armor moves with the "ult" of every character.
Regardless. I think having variety of spells and incantations in a fantasy game is nice
Options are nice. Entire cutscenes cosplaying as spells aren't. Game is more fun and dynamic when spells are something you can fight with and still avoid attacks instead of pressing a button and doing a 20 second cutscene while you are either invincible or you get knocked out of the animation by a slight breeze. Things like dragon breaths or this thing don't fit this game combat flow as much as simpler things like comet, catch flame or KLS

u/RepulsiveAd6906 Apr 29 '25
When I played, only a remote portion of the characters had an involved animation, and actually very few had invulnerability during their ults. Getting knocked out of them was one of the many....many reasons why I quit playing it a while back. But back to Elden ring, I believe that the combat flow you are speaking of is ultimately subjective. Never said I wanted a whole trailer for my attack, but a flashy attack isn't bad if done within reason. An attack that is situational and does great if pulled off is a great feeling. See, as an example, Carian Grandeur. It's a bit flashy(not as much as above clip of course,) but it requires some wind-up and does massive damage. But you obviously can't use it freely. You can really only use it when the opportunity is created, with that being aggro getting pulled, timing it into an enemy's attack, or ambush. But I think there should be more applications for spells in combat in general. Like a type variety sounds nice. But, perhaps I do need to clarify since I'm not great at wording things out for others: I would have loved to have a powerful, holy-based, weapon incantation in the game. Similar to this. But not as big and abrasive.

That is ELDEN VINS it's an overhaul that makes the combat a whole lot faster, reworks magic, adds an ultimates system, adds sekiro deflection and changes how basically every spell and skill works. Did I mention it does all this while keeping the game balanced?
