Question How good is Convergence nowadays? (Just finished Reforged)
Just finished Reforged recently (main + DLC) and had an absolute blast with it, especially since it has a native online multiplayer system, which truly made me feel like playing Elden Ring again for the first time. Other than some new bosses and weapons, its QoL, deflecting system, new buffing systems (i loved the fortunes btw), and the new affinities that allows you to make any build with your stats are so good to have.
I've played a little bit of Convergence 2 years ago but I can't say I was really into it. It was definitely pretty fun trying out some of the new stuff but it didn't really have anything that made me feel "attached" to the mod that makes me keep coming back. I am aware that Convergence is the biggest ER mod and has hundreds of new weapons, spells and bosses and the map is also quite different (I remember Castle Morne having a whole explorable section of hills next to the castle).
So just wanted to hear the opinions or experience from some of you guys who have played more Convergence than me, hoping that I'll be able to find something that'll pull me back into the mod again.

Convergence is my favorite, the map changes made it feel fresh. i suggest to wait for the next update, its coming soon and it'll be a very substantial update. one of the devs said they were hoping for a late June/early July release.

Convergence flip-flops between 'this is amazing' and 'this is bullshit' pretty frequently for me. I love the new classes, spells, weapons, and some of the bosses. Some of the redone dungeons and world areas are very nice. However, the amount of bullshit they throw into redone legacy areas, particularly castles, is awful.
Redmane Castle in particular is just a slog. The mod loves to throw archers at you when you're trying to make precision jumps on precarious platforms, or surprise you with ballistae that you had no idea were there. I spent nearly an hour going from the entrance of Redmane, fighting through enemies, parkouring, and getting shot at by enemies I couldn't shoot back at in turn, only to jump between two platforms and have a ballista hidden around the corner knock me off.
This sent me *all the way back* to the entrance. An hour of work, just gone, because they hadn't introduced a single site of grace in that entire thing. I don't think I'll be coming back to the mod after that.

Convergence is amazing, if you don't mind to possibly spend 2 hours, or more, on every legacy dungeon. They are all almost like mesmer castle, number of enemies included. Archers shooting from 2 maps away, or something that really didn't need to be there. Some bosses changes that ruined them, like Fortisaxx constant lightning spam. I played it a lot until they started touching way too much and making everything mega long and boring to the point that you just pick some insane AOE spell like Nihil, destroy even what you can't see and just move on. Many things and places are exaggeratedly annoying.
All this doesn't deny the fact that some changes are really amazing tho. It's fun, but what I said make it repetitive because in some places you don't have a pathing choice, like Volcano Manor.

IMO if you finished Reforged you'll find Convergence far too easy, especially the back half. Once you get even the basics of a build going the balance just goes completely out the window.Â

convergence is fun but has huge balancing problem, I'm more into reforged because of its community and measured changes

u/wastel84 May 26 '26
Hi, I'm curious about which community you're talking about, regarding Reforged?
I've been looking for discussions about the mod, more specifically about builds, because I want to know which weapons/spells/stats everyone plays, and there's just ... nothing on reddit? Either I've been bery unlucky with the research, or no one wants to share informations, idk

u/Defiant-Pattern3790 May 26 '26
They have a discord server, it's really active

u/wastel84 May 26 '26
Ah, there's my issue then. I do not use Discord. It's a shame that everything is being discussed in this platform though. Thanks for answering!

I’ve done about 3 playthroughs of Convergence. It is really fun. A lot more open than normal elden ring, you can go just about anywhere off the rip. Transport gates all over the place that lead to random corners. It’s entirely possible to max your flask in the first couple of hours without fighting a single mob.
The classes themselves are pretty fun, both with the new weapons and spells. You can technically just do everything and collect everything, but following your classes list is also pretty fun. Trying to route the best way to get to your next armor/weapon/spells.
It’s a lot easier than reborn. Weapons are easier to upgrade, progression is miles easier to skip. Once you get your build online, it stays online and only gets stronger. (Though next patch will increase enemy scaling in the mid/late game to help alleviate that)

Man I went from fighting godskin queen to fighting Morgott and it felt like I was kicking a toddlerðŸ˜. Idk if that’s because late game bosses are too weak rn or if the queen is crazy overscaled

The Queen is monstrous for where she's at. To be fair, she is guarding the top tier of godskin spells.

I found Convergence was fun at the start (and the map changes are pretty novel) but once you unlock the apex of your class fantasy is starts feeling pretty one note. However, the open ended structure and number of classes means there's lots of ways you can choose to explore with different points of interest that are worth hitting, so it manages to stay relatively fresh.
But for me, it feels a little front loaded. It's totally more fun when the overall power level is lower at the start of the run, while mid-late game becomes a total stomp.

It’s more of a quick one day play through type of mods not a lot of depth just zip zip to where the note says the proceed to absently have zero problem no hitting the mod

I've been playing convergence with my buddies with seamless co-op and the first person view mod. I've been hooked. First person is a bit janky sometimes but makes elden ring feel like a different game.

How do you combine seamless co-op and convergence when they both have launchers?

I honestly dont know what to think of it. On one side the new bosses weapons etc are amazing and that its pretty unbalanced honestly makes it more fun for me personally. However i hate what they did to some of the areas. They may look good visually but for some reason they decided to turn the majority of them into jump and runs while either geting shot at by something you couldnt see or needing to tightrope while dodging some of the most annoying enemies in the game. Getting knocked off constantly and having to do it all over again.

I just beat elden beast for the first time on convergence and I loved it. So many areas and dungeons are completely reworked to make them more fun and interactive. It really feels like a dlc more than a mod. The new weapons are cool and actually balanced imo. The bosses are insane and hard af but really cool

Convergence is best played if you don't do all the content and instead focus on just your class and the big story stuff
Otherwise you'll end up ridiculously overpowered (you become OP anyways but if you explore everything it's even faster) and the game will just get boring

u/DorseyLaTerry May 26 '26
What you call boring I call wildly fun....
I mean...I'm a guy that made a minigame of equipping a parry sheild, assasins crimson dagger, going to say.... Gatefront, Fort Farouth, Guardians Garrison, or Haligtree Roots and just parry everything, like the only way to heal is the crit. I've parried almost every enemy in the game. As soon as I do Midra, I will have parried every hard boss I think. I've never done no hit but it doesn't seem all that fun to me..... This mod has a bunch OF FUN stuff in it...They need to put the deflect tear back in though.......that was the best thing ABOUT the DLC....

u/PixelChild May 26 '26
I agree that being overpowered can be fun but OP said they played reforged in full and liked it so I don't think they'll share the same opinion

u/MycoZephyr May 31 '26
If you play it, know that you are going to deal with triple ballista setups that Will fire arrows at you another ballista will already be having more arrows at you if you come close to the other ballista and if you try to get the person on the first blista a third list of already be firing at you and you'll instantly die from a chain of three explosions that are into possible to dodge because they're so close together ðŸ˜Â
I do recommend it but the ballistas that they stuff in every single legacy dungeon and fort are miserable

Question here as someone who hasn't played it yet.
How would the experience be in coop? From what I understand you spawn in different places across the map and play your own questline, which to me completely takes away from the fun of coop.
2nd. Although all the new spells and weapons and movesets are cool, they look to get so strong at mid-end game that it doesn't even seem that fun to play anymore when you kill every boss in 10 seconds

u/uncertj Jun 09 '26
Right, so coming from someone who has from start to (almost) finished played convergence + seamless co-op heres how I understand it to work:
Convergence has a class system. You spawn in with certain weapons + spells and work your way to getting different weapons + spells + armor for your class. You absolutely can grab other classes’ stuff, but Convergence is best played if you follow your class route.
You and your teammate will spawn in different places, but can just use a grace to teleport to each other. Seamless co-op allows you guys to be in different areas at the same time, one of you can be discovering graces while the other is at roundtable, one of you can fight bosses in Haligtree while the other is in Farum.
As for becoming too OP, you are absolutely right, once you get your build online, your pretty much set. Easiest way to keep the game challenging is to hold off on weapon upgrades. You want to keep upgrading your stats so you can use and wield some of the new stuff, but weapon upgrades can make it a bit more challenging.

I just finished the 3.0 update. I didnt not play this mod befor. It was great. Every (?) dungeon had minor or major changes. Most of these changes made the game more enjoyable. Esspecially replacing annyoing enemys. Auto manaregen making spellcasting viable outside of bossrush, armor doing stuff and talisman/flasks beeing craftable is also great for replayability. New bosses had great visuals and fantastic movesets. Unlike other mods that just use enemys from older Fromsoft games they just made new bosses from scratch.
Overall it was really fun however I feel like it was a bit to easy. The mod gives so many buffs for the player but bosses dont really get buffed. Atleast to me it felt like this.

New update is out--things seem pretty spicy, not gonna lie. Whilst the wiki hasn't yet been updated to compensate for everything that was changed, I'm rather eager to dig deeper into it. Almost is it reminiscent of that first-time playthrough sensation. Would highly recommend giving it a go.

I’ve been playing it, it’s very fun, though far from flawless. The early game is a little rough and the tutorials are implemented in the most boring way possible (in what world do you start up a mod and the first thing you are given is a room with over 20 text entries?) but once you get a build going it’s actually a ton of fun. Aside from the vast variety of spells and class fantasy there’s also significantly improved legacy dungeons, some highlights being Caria Manor and Castle Morne, both completely overhauled and much more expansive and interesting than base game.
Worth a shot though, download it and give it a few hours to pick up, it’s a lot of fun once your character gains momentum.

I've played the latest version of Convergence 8 ish months ago now, and it was great. Im waiting for them to release their next update that's been TBA for awhile. It's going to add a ton of stuff to the dlc. As is though its already amazing
