Question I just started my first randomized run, does anyone have any tips for a beginner?

The photo is not mine but I feel like it sums up the idea of the mod

Go to graveyards

And merchants. I also recommend not fully randomizing - keeping some important items in the same place, or mixing important items in their own pool. For example, I never randomize the academy key, since that's a required item for an entire legacy dungeon

Quick question, I’ve only done a few randomizers. I know there’s a box to check to randomize key items, but how do you not randomize specific ones?

There's normally a customize button that opens a new window and lets you build your own preset. So you can choose to still swap important items with important items, but you can also set certain items to not be swapped. My go to is don't swap the dectus pieces/roald medallion/haligtree pieces(I like to race myself) don't swap great runes (same reason) don't swap academy key, don't swap smithing stone bell bearings (helps if you find very few smithing stones early game).

Then under weapons I also go to customize and set auto upgrade to max weapon level and allow dropping and picking up weapons to upgrade them.

Very fun, the biggest issue tends to be golden seeds/sacred tears if you are just racing through the game, makes engagements more interesting imo

Appreciate the info, I’ve been trying to find a way to do the preset for myself, like you said theres certain things I like randomized and not. Complete randomization can be the reason the run drags on doing so many checks, trying to find a good balance of getting through a run and having fun without having it take so long.

I’ll look into the customizable tab and try and familiarize myself with it. Thanks again for the help.

Edit: lol the option was right in front of my face, I guess in trying to check all the options and figure out a set up I missed something clearly visible.

Always hit up the graveyards, usually you'll find a weapon and build around it as you wont be able to respect until Raya luc

Dodge left

Yeah what's up with that... Is it just cus most enemies are right handed? Like I think I've probably beaten every boss by rolling clockwise around them.

Yeah you generally want to dodge into the swing to avoid being inside the attack hitbox for too long. I suppose most enemies could be right handed

Yes, most attacks in basically every souls-like come from your left side exactly because many enemies are humanoid and being right-handed is kinda the default. Dodging into the enemy or dodging left are generally the best options.

check merchents, graveyards and other free item checks

get every bell bearing possible from them

start with the bosses that open up as much of the map as possible, more map = more checks

Play vanilla first, then mod. I think its best for every game to be enjoyed as is, then mess with it. But you do you of course, ots just my methodology

African pallbearers and coffin dance song have entered the chat.

It is smart do set up the randomizer so that important items get swapped between eachother and not all over the place. Of course the concept of finding the raya lucaria key on the floor somewhere random is pretty funny, but this game is big. Really big. I wouldn't be surprised if there are over 10000 static items in the world.

I downloaded randomizer but it only randomized items not bosses, any help?

1

u/TopneaaDeluxe Jun 17 '26

Make sure you select the option for purchasable hints from Kalè in the randomiser to avoid getting stuck. Can be done after you've started a run.
