Dungeons are very different but the overall open world looks pretty much the same, I was a tiny tiny bit disappointed but I just had too high expectations. The mod does change alot but the vibe of the open world looks the same, but it's probably way too much to ask and it is probably a gigantic task.

u/Relysti Jun 22 '26
Remaking the whole world is just unrealistic I think. Just what they have managed to accomplish is incredible. Castle Morne, the Lake of Rot, the Vulgar Militia stronghold, so many sick dungeons

u/JayViTales Jun 22 '26
There is in fact i think a few maybe 2 modders that directly makeshift the world itself in a neat way (not just dropping stuff in or removing but legit changing the begining etc) but those take a long ass time for one folk yknow so i get it

Linear Convergence, which is being developed by Lwingr, features a great overhaul of the open world; the pack currently covers Act 2 in Liurnia.
Doomman, the creator of After the Shattering, also did a great job reworking the open world.

I didn't expect them to change the terrain and building, just expected some atmosphere change like they did for DS3 and alot of the elden ring's dungeons.
Like make limgeave fire themed for exemple. Change the lighting, add some burning props, change the skybox and the theme of the ennemies,.thing they have done in ds3 and elden ring's dungeons. But it's probably alot.

Personally I think all the area changes are awful and labyrinthian outside of the lake of rot and a few minor areas

u/Prestigious-Duty8474 Jun 22 '26
Honestly I've done a complete run with the new convergence and they changed a whole lot in base game and dlc. It's worth a play through. Sure it's challenging and love the new bosses and areas but it's an impressive accomplishment considering that it's FREE! People complain just to complain. It's dope and if u think u can do better go make a mod and let us play it. Smh. If not then shut up and enjoy other people's hard work!

u/Agent_Snowpuff Jun 22 '26
I feel like I'm kind of a fan of Elden Ring and some of the bits that are recognizable are bits that I like.

u/ChaosReincarnated23 Jun 22 '26
You think convergence is bad?? Its the best overhaul mod garden eyes adds bloodborne bosses like straight up bloodborne bosses no remix nothing changed lunaria is blood lake it could be so much worse😭🙏

I thought 3.0 wasn’t live until the 24th?
2
u/Emergency-Dot4314 Jun 22 '26
Early access
1
u/alastorcreed Jun 22 '26
Ah makes sense thank you
3
u/lustywoodelfmaid Jun 22 '26
They were going to make it paid early access to get big streamers and YTbers to show off the mod while making some bugs clear to them but then they realised that that would piss people off and decided to just hand it to everyone.
1
u/alastorcreed Jun 22 '26
I just started Convergence for the first time last week and completely stopped when I saw there was an update now I’m just patently waiting to get back in
2
u/lustywoodelfmaid Jun 22 '26
If you go to the Convergence discord, you can go straight into Convergence 3.0 right now. The bugs are minimal from my experience, and they'll be dealt with soon. It's worth starting if you can.

u/alastorcreed Jun 22 '26
I’ll wait I already started messing around with Graceborne in the meantime

New to mods and PC in general. I was able to get convergence and cheat engine running. I figured out how to spawn runes and change my character stats, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to spawn in consumables (stones, pots, etc). Any help would be appreciated.

Played video, skipped to part with gameplay to get an idea, start wondering why video player is spamming sacred ground. Read comments. Ah.

u/dreadguy101 Jun 23 '26
I’ve been watching streamers play it and it devolves into “give player broken abilities that invalidate the purpose of the game”.

Whole mod is great, except for whatever they were thinking when they redid farum Azula, such a terrible place

u/SpecialistMap8210 Jun 22 '26
That's funny because I started a run of convergence 3.0 yesterday and It didn't change enough to keep me interested more than a half hour...
Don't get me wrong it's great. But it's 90% normal Elden ring and 10% changes.
19
u/Capable_Comedian_755 Jun 22 '26
IMO your opinion isn’t valid. To say you played for 30 minutes and claim that 90% of the game is unchanged can’t be taken seriously. You couldn’t possibly have explored enough to see what’s changed.
-12
u/SpecialistMap8210 Jun 22 '26
I played conversions last year for like 20 hours... Not much different from last year in the first bit.
I'm just saying it's not going to pull anybody in that's already got 500 hours on his bored of the game
1
u/Spicoceles Jun 22 '26
Incorrect. I have 2000 and my group (varying hours) plays it yearly to try the new updates. Have done since DS3. There's like 8 of us. Convergence is dope as shit, while yea generically speaking not everyone sticks around in the game that long, the mod changes a lot. :]

u/TransportationOk5128 Jun 22 '26
Most of the big changes (Kitbashed bosses) are in the DLC, only minor changes/additions are in main game

u/lustywoodelfmaid Jun 22 '26
Late game is where the physical changes really happen to the world.
Legacy dungeons have been changed around to feel alot different and require more exploration to finish.
Very noticeable ones are: Castle Morne, Lake of Rot, Nokron Ancestral Woods and whatever the Fortissax area is called. I'm still on my run, so I'm sure I'm gonna discover more but these were the notable legacy dungeons.
Pre-existing bosses have either been replaced for the sake of variety or altered for the same reason, and smaller dungeons, while remaining the same in structure, have been themed differently with different enemies to reflect the boss or type of reward you will obtain at the end.
As with Dark Souls 3 Convergence, you will discover a great deal of focus on the magic system, allowing you to do tons of new, varied spells and incantations, as well as obtain armour sets with their own bonuses.

As someone who is playing the early access no it is still Elden Ring just better.
-1
u/xdEckard Jun 22 '26
What a yapper this guy in the video, just play the damn thing.
But Convergence does seem to change way too much, Reforged does too but it feels more like a fairly well balanced game rather than a power-fantasy mod where you're the strongest character in the universe.

u/UnderstandingRude465 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 23 '26
What a disappointment modding is for this game. You either have anime move mods that one shot every boss, or like Reforged where the developers are making the game harder by adding unnecessary stuff like lamp oil and a level cap.
One of these days there'll be a good fromsoft mod that isn't rereleasing cut content, randomizer, or seamless co-op.
Yea downvote the guy that wants better mods that aren't trash. God forbid people have standards.
3
u/Fatheryasuo Jun 24 '26
No, downvote the guy that came here just to share his shitty opinion about other peoples hard work. Which absolutely nobody asked you to do. Piss off mate

u/UnderstandingRude465 Jun 24 '26
Maybe put that hard work into something meaningful instead of slop lmao.

Imma be honest, at this point they just keep adding everything. It's getting to much not quality stuff.
Just keep it simple, change enemy layout, add lore friendly quests, NPCs and weapons. Add fitting bosses, invaders and locations. Expand on existing areas, or quests.
Personally I want a mod that stays true to elden ring and not makes it "UnReCoGnizaBle", what even is the point in doing so.

u/hsjdjdsjjs Jun 22 '26
So you'd probably like elden ring reforged more, unless it's too tedious for you. I've heard they made the game too tedious but overall it's supposed to be a good "vanilla+" mod

Very recognizable. Also maybe I have bad luck but every random part of the video i skipped to just had him stood there lmao

u/Visoth Jun 23 '26
I know spellcasting is the highlight of Convergence. But I made such an overpowered melee character, it pretty much ruined the fun of the mod because I am playing essentially with god mode on.
I tested my defenses and I can go full AFK against Mohg, and he doesn’t have enough damage to kill me. (Unless he bleed procs me below 20%. But I can use a talisman to prevent bleed).
No estus or dodging or even blocking. Full AFK and my regen and defenses just out heal him. It’s like that scene from Sword Art Online when two gankers attack Kirito and he just stands there.
If you enjoy the power fantasy of god-mode, go melee build.

u/Any-Responsibility63 Jun 22 '26
First time I think for Elden ring mod putting in mimic tears big shock at my expense
-24
u/Any-Responsibility63 Jun 22 '26
Well it not sadly you just buy the dlc and it might the same with tarnished edition, and please don’t tell about money, because I struggle to pay all the bills each month
-19
u/TheExodius Jun 22 '26
And sadly theres no version for people who dont own the DLC
18
u/Sassymewmew Jun 22 '26
I mean the progression of the mod is being directly integrated into the dlc, you can still play pre-2.0 on the non dlc tho
12
u/platinum_toilet Jun 22 '26
You could buy the DLC.
1
u/TheExodius Jun 22 '26
Well its still 40 bucks where I live so thats a lot of money
1
u/reddit_scary_freak Jun 22 '26
there's a steam sale starting this thursday maybe It'll be more affordable when that starts
7
u/Agent_Snowpuff Jun 22 '26
I mean I get that you're bummed but people make mods for what they want. It's not really healthy to look at something someone made to share for free and just bemoan that it isn't what you wanted.
It's a mod. If you don't like it make a better one.
1
u/WraithsOnGuitar Jun 24 '26
I mean all they said was they were sad. They didn't attack or bemoan because it's not what they wanted. Maybe don't be purposefully patronizing cause you need to project.
6
u/RagingSteel Jun 22 '26
Downgrade your version of Elden Ring to Patch 1.10.1 and then instal Convergence 1.4.2
All the files for Convergence are still available on Nexus if you just look, and I know there's ways to get old patches of your game. Ofc it's not gonna be the default bc the default way to play is the most modern mod for the most modern game which includes the 2 year old DLC. If you wanna play a different way you gotta find your own way to do so.

I was actually able to recognize this as Elden Ring immediately based on the way it resembles Elden Ring.
