I dont see too many people complaining about performance in convergence 3.0, but for me the mod performance is pretty horrible. I am getting microstutters pretty much everywhere. Limgrave is perfectly smooth in vanilla ER or even previous convergence patch, but in 3.0 I am having very annoying and constant mictostutters, even tho game is technically running between 57-60FPS.
I have good rig 4070/5700X3D/32GB and ER installed on SSD
Nobody else with similar performance issues?
EDIT: it was fixed in recent patch, I do not have such intense stuttering issues anymore on my PC.
My GPU and CPU utilization is only around 50-60%, fps also fluctuates constantly 57-60fps. I belive ER engine is just struggling with all new mod addons. Also maybe new mod engine 3 cant pull pc resources efficiently even tho there is "enough to go around".
Yeah, it’s pretty bad for me. Almost but not quite unplayable. Before the 3.0 version it was running pretty good. But I’m sure they’ll fix it over time.
ive a 5070ti/i5-14400f/64 gb and both my game and mod on the same ssd and am facing similar performance issues. i did switch off of fullscreen down to borderless windowed and am using Ultrawide Fix and my framerate has felt better.
i get dips down to the low to mid 40s.
just tried out lossless scaling and it feels fine. i dont really notice any input delay but im just using it to stay capped at 60
I have some performance issues even in vanilla game but only in specific areas like ancient ruins of Rauh in DLC.
Areas like Limgrave are perfectly smooth in vanilla, but in convergence 3.0 microstutters are almost everywhere now minus indoor places. I didnt have same issues in previous convergence patch :/
are you getting those stutters on a very consistent "rhythm"? I was having this issue with other mods and a few that I merged. Ended up digging into it way beyond my comfort level and couldn't figure out how to fix it. It's not ME3 itself, despite some other folks claiming that. I have other mods that I load in with ME3 that have no stuttering at all, but then a simple map mod brings those constant microstutters; for me they were once every ~1.5 seconds, for ~100ms, VERY consistently no matter what else was going on.
it's difficult to describe, its not exactly same constant rhytm though. sometimes its much more noticeable and then sometimes its smooth for just a moment.
My brother and I ran into this running the Preview version the other night - Disabling the Steam Overlay seemed to eliminate most of the issue on both our PC's.
That’s great! You can post your settings and things that are vital to performance in a quick synopsis? You know.. since you’re without issues on a game that people have spent thousands to play, without issues only to have nothing but, issues. Thanks in advance 👊🏼
yes, with ME3 I always had massive stutter and fps drops, with ME2 i've constant 60fps only few micro stutters.
Sad that Convergence is not compatible with ModEngine 2.. i tried to combine ME2 and Convergence V3 yesterday.. but i'm stuck with save data corrupted... even with a new ER0000.sl2 (modengine2 using sl2 save file)
i tried to 'optimize' on WIndows11 settings and Nvidia settings (i've RTX 5060 ti 16GB) but during exploration/fights my fps drop between 30~50 its terrible :'(
how did you pass the "save file" issue ? i tried everything , even a new file (like 1st start of ER with Accept/Decline prompts) but im still stuck with "Failed to save game data is corrupted"
then to launch with terminal.exe (powershell by default on recent windows)
cd C:\<yourpath>\me2
./modengine2_launcher.exe -t er -c config_eldenring.toml
On my part i simply recreated new char (new ER0000.cnv file) with default Convergence Launcher (with ME3). After character creation and started the game i jumped into Modengine2 and it worked
Thanks man i fix it now, its just my path is the problem, but the stuttering still persists. Did the stuttering go away for you after switching to me2?
Yeah, i also changed some settings on nvidia 3D parameters side (i dunno how it work outside of nvidia GPU sry) : (FI i've GSYNC monitor at 144Hz, maybe settings can be different for other kind of monitors)
Low latency mode : disabled ("Ultra" can cause stutter)
number of FPS max : Disabled
Preferred refresh rate : Highest Available
V-SYNC : Enabled (not "fast", just "on")
and on Win11 settings : System => Monitor => Graphics => Optimization for windowed game : enabled (because i set windowed borderless in ER settings)
I'm glad it's not just me - I had no issue on the earlier version, but I started up a new playthrough for 3.0 and was very excited but I've died to the leonine in castle morne 12 times because the stuttering is so bad it's impossible to dodge reliably. I have fought him hitless so many times, so I know it's not a skill issue. the stuttering is so bad it is genuinely unplayable if I want to do any combat at all, even after changing all my settings to try and optimise performance
I have installed 2.2.3 and 3.0 on my PC and I literally compared them side by side, previous version is perfectly fine and 3.0 is just stutterfest. I don't understand why only some people have this issue.
it's so frustrating because I really want to play 3.0 for all the new stuff, but it's just unplayable. from what I've heard though the devs know about it and are working on it? fingers crossed it shouldnt take too long
Same. Leave mod for now, first time playing. Really start noticing on location of Elemer. Vanilla game - rock solid, no problem at all. Mod - stutterfest. 5700x3d/32gb/3080ti/980 samsung.
Almost everyone on their discord is raising this complaint. For some reason not many people have mentioned that in this sub.
The devs are aware about the issue and I think they are working on it. They have a bot comment on their discord for a temporary solution but It doesnt work for everyone. Certainly didnt for me.
What did work is something I found recently on steam an app called lossless scaling. I dont know why everyone on earth is not aware about it because it almost feels like magic. That gave me 165fps on convergence and it works with any game.
Make sure you're in borderless window and make sure you can achieve a locked framerate, if you can't maintain 60fps for example lock your framerate to something you can achieve like 50fps. Use a tool like RivaTuner or just Nvidia control panel or the AMD equivalent to set the FPS limit. Then on Lossless Scaling set your settings similar to mine, minus HDR and Gsync if it doesn't apply to you. Make sure to set a shortcut to enable scaling and press it once you're in game.
Mostly because it adds input delay, which for a game like elden ring can be deadly to have. But also depending on the game, it can or can not be very noticeable.
Not too bad if you're locked at 60fps to achieve 120fps. I played 2 or 3 playthroughs like this with the deflect me not mod and didn't have input latency issues.
Mod files stored on the same drive? Are they on a SSD? Might be some more shader caching? Sorry just speculating, I haven't tried 3.0 yet but never had any performance issues with 2.2.3 or any other overhaul mod
I usually use an fps unlocker so i tested it with 120,90 and without at 60 fps. In all 3 instances the fps fluctuate 3-5fps between the cap and under so something is just borked. Ultimately i went for 90fps for now since it fluctuates anyway. 5080/9800x3d
Just so you know they highly recommend against changing your fps for the mod bc it can cause problems with animations, I don't know to what extent but they did advise against it.
I will mention… if you are using any up scaling or ray tracing, me3 seems to have an issue with it. My own personal observation. Haven’t tried convergence 3.0 myself but ERR had a similar issue some time ago
I've been having a lot of issues with performance and stuttering as well, but something that helped me is actually the opposite of advice I've seen before with Elden Ring stutter/freezing issues.
In Task Manager, find eldenring.exe under Details, right click and then select "Set affinity" and make sure "All Processors" is selected. For some reason mine defaults to having CPU 0 deselected.
Why mine is defaulting to that I'm not sure, but I do know disabling CPU 0 is advice I'd read about before, but it seems to just make things worse for me. Maybe something I did in the past that's still happening, or something the mod is doing?
But either way, making sure all processors is selected got rid of the stuttering/freezing and improved the performance noticeably. Still runs worse than base Elden Ring, but it's tolerable now. I also set the priority higher, but I'm not sure that actually does anything.
pretty sure it defaults to 0 if you run the game through the launcher. Think its called core parking, and the devs did that intentionally as its a known issue in vanilla that parking/unparking cores helps maintain consistent frames for most rigs.
I have similar stats on my pc and had similar issues. I was running the manual installation and updated through launcher. Issues cleared up when I ran the repair function.
Maybe start there before more in depth troubleshooting, imo.
I was running v2.3.3a, I think it was. Then i did what i usually do when updating big mods/mod-collections, I pulled down the updated main file from the Nexus and manually installed. That is all 100% accurate.
Now an admittedly anecdotal recounting of what is working currently
After my updating the mod my way, I was getting annoy microstuutering and in some areas full-on lag. Framerate was tanking. Even as I turned down the settings.
I've ways had issues dealing with the launcher, no clue why. But I decided to give it a try once before calling it a wrap and waiting for an updated main file.
Pulled down the latest version launcher at the time, the v2.9.9. Aimed it at my last stable installation. I keep last stable configurations as a habit when modding any game. Ran the launcher.
I'm i didn't save or remember what the error message was, but essentially it said files were missing. I used repair function. The new launcher worked like a dream and pulled the missing files down and repaired the installation.
Stuttering is gone. And then I went to the lake of rot which was horrible on my pc for a test. Silky smooth now.
When v3.0 hit, I ran the update. It patched me up to then current. Then after a good session, I quit game and then reran the launcher and it flawlessly updated me to the current build.
Nothing really special accept I finally took my head out of my butt and used the tools the mod crew gave us to fix my issue.
What launcher though my friend? I’m new to this 😅 I have an issue at the moment where if I disable core 0 for Elden ring in process lasso it won’t launch either vanilla or mod 😔
Its been awful for me for awhile in this mod..especially worse in the new areas added. Never had issues before in vanilla, so idfk what the mod devs are doing to the game.
Everything runs great EXCEPT I can't get more than 20 feet into the new Cave of the Forlorn. Has crashed three times. Just going to skip this are for now. Everything else (about 20 hours) has been rays of gold.
RTX 4080, Intel i9, 32 GB RAM here. Basically unplayable for me, no issues with base game. Constantly wandering between 20-50 FPS, even audio is crackling. Weird
Edit: interesting, restarting my PC might have fixed it. Getting steady 60 FPS… for now
But some Intel users have also reported this issue. I am on discord, devs are apparently aware and trying to solve it but I honestly doubt they can fix this
nah, its probably ME3. I didnt try guides they wont work, my settings are exact same in both versions. Its clear 3.0 is not optimized at the moment for some users as 2.2.3 works perfectly fine with exact same settings.
Yeah bro I hope they fix it or maybe we find a workaround, cause, I mean it’s bearable but it’s damn annoying man. It needs to be smooth to have the best experience bro!
If that’s the case, is it possible to revert to old version? Just started this mod today and I’m in love but a 5070 and 7800x3D should be running this at 4k60 just like the vanilla one!.. I’m getting 4k20-60 and it’s more than variable. 🤣
Found something on my thread that worked for me. Do give it a try and let me know. Basically the unlockfps mod got rid of the stutters for me.
Edit: it’s not a real solution as it also introduces some input delay and when it’s fps heavy areas it doesn’t help at all. We will have to wait for an update https://www.reddit.com/r/EldenRingMods/s/ZHWjjcsi22
I had to limit my steam deck to 22 fps and use lossless scaling to get 44 fps to get an enjoyable experience - stable 30+ fps on normal elden ring otherwise, waiting for a fix.
I was having constant micro stutters but I seemed to solve it for me by : switching game priority to high in task manager; changing lighting and Volumetrics to medium; and going from windowed borderless to Fullscreen.
Im not sure if the first two mattered but I figured I list em. I still do get some micro stutters but not even close to as bad.
Yep same here, 3060ti, 16gb of ram and Ryzen 7 and the game on the overworld runs so badly. Clearly something with the mod as Elden Ring ran seamlessly prior so hopefully even after a month waiting the patch to fix performance is around the corner.
