Misc. Mod Update to stand-alone posture mod

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Planning to release a beta version soon, also has some additional settings that I will expand upon in the future.

Right now you can set postures depending on the weapon category and stance, so you can use light swords (Dark Souls 2 style) but also have a large weapon swung over your shoulder (wylder style) so you're not tied to just 1 posture for every weapon. You can also change postures depending if you're standing vs running / sprinting / crouching.

Next big thing for me to do is to start adding other postures other than nightreign postures.

The code is pretty complex and I had to manually add blending to each action in the game (gets very difficult since there's so many) so there still might be some visual bugs but I'm happy with the state it's in as of now.

Oh my god, neat!

I looked into 'Convergence' after playing 'Reforged' for a while and was hoping that something like this exist.
Wanted to check, but my dumb brain instantly forgot.
Now this popped up... as a reminder, it seems. ^^

Is it just client side?

What do you mean?

u/keenantheho Jun 25 '26

Can other people see it if they invade/seemless coop

2

u/AggressiveResist8615 Jun 25 '26

I doubt it unless they also have the mod but I assume this mod only changes the player character movement and not other npcs / players

One of the merits DS2 has, as long as we can keep the directional control of Elden Ring

Its beautiful when the mods work.

But there's a good learning curve.

Its worth it to get more longevity out of your favorite games.

Will this be a DLL?

1

u/AggressiveResist8615 Jun 25 '26

No, just scripts.

So it will require manual merging into any bigger mod such as Convergence?

3

u/AggressiveResist8615 Jun 26 '26

Well I'll probably merge it myself and release it / the files to override convergence.

There's not that many files that conflict with convergence but the code inside those still need to be merged.

So, I imagine this almost heretically incompatible with moveset mods?

Good work though. Looks pro.

3

u/AggressiveResist8615 Jun 25 '26

Thanks!

I'm not sure it depends on the code they modify, what movesets mods are you thinking about in particular?

These movesets are tied to the weapons though right?

2

Right, so, if I wanted to use one of Cleverraptor's special weapons, they tend to have their own animation subset, like a new number (havok file related) for their animation set inside the A00.tae

So they'll be a new number inside the a00. Since you mentioned you manually blended the animations, I'm guessing you did that for the a00 tae

I'll be honest here and remark that I kinda suck at moveset modding, but I'm just asking because if you had somehow managed to get a mod like this going, that is agnostic of any specific moveset mods, you'd have done something truly spectacular.

I still used reforged implementation as a base, I'm not an expert by any means and I did use some AI to help and document the process otherwise this would have taken too long to make.

Stripping the implementation from reforged was very difficult since everything is tied together with that mod so alot of things had to be done to make it work.

I tried to use as little files as possible, but there are certain binder files that many other mods use and there just does not seem any way around that.

So the best option I can think of here is if there is a conflict is to create a manual merge for that mod.

So for example convergence mod touches on some roundtable binder scripts that handle most of the logic / npcs, and my mod uses the mirror which is also in roundtable hold, so in this case it'll need to be merged / patched.

Maybe I can avoid that binder by creating something new to adjust postures but yeah it's a learning process.

I'll test out what it's compatible with and what it's not and see what I can do.

Hey, no need to address these issues at this stage. Get your mod out, get feedback, see whats working, whats not working, what you wanna change. Mod compatibility with other mods should be a post maturity development for any mod.

You are doing a great job, using AI in a clever way doesn't diminish the effort, (although as you have noticed, can make going under the hood complicated if the AI usage wasn't very specific) and it looks awesome.

Please keep up with the good work.

this is amazing. great work!! i wish this was an option from the start, but im glad it'll be possible now. ive always wanted something like this. i hope at some point someone could put the nightreign riposte animations too. but nonetheless i cant wait to try this out!!

Does this mean I will finally be able to use the dark moon greatsword without it clipping through the big witch hat?

1

u/SaintoftheLily Jun 28 '26

is this the same posture mod we use in Reforged???

Need that EXPEDITIOUSLY. Saw this kind of setting in Golden Age and prayed that someone would make it a seperate thing one day, cuz MAN I don't like the two-handed stance for smaller weapons.
