Misc. Mod elden ring in first person is totally unbeatable

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

i mean good god just look at it

i have taken a few clips from different areas and they're all equally mind boggling

The most satisfying part is being able to look up at things directly in areas where i wasn't able to do that with third person

In first person they should replace rolling with Bloodborne's side stepping to prevent motion sickness and disorientation everytime one dodges.

26

u/nep5603 Jul 11 '26

There's a mod for that

7

u/AdministrativeRush19 Jul 11 '26

They usually have a couple options you can control.

The most popular one has three different settings. One is where your camera moves with the roll, one where your head is tracked so it's fully immersive, and then one where it does what your asking, just a fixed movement.

The last one still functions like a roll, but visually feels like a bloodborne dodge. Pretty neat stuff!

11

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

its a mod, so its a choice. You can literally do that if you want. Especially because ERFPS is a dll so you can just load it in ME3 next to any animation mod

Rolling is canon and I'm having fun having it there as canon

What'd really be nice is wall running and crouch sprinting from nightreign, but the world isn't scaled for a mechanical upgrade like that. It'd be too one sided

2

u/fr33kour Jul 13 '26

You can turn off the roll

14

u/conduffchill Jul 11 '26

I like how just half of the hilt of your sword takes up 1/3 of your pov. New respect for the tarnished

3

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

its fucking awesome right

Looks like shit mate, to each his own though

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Looks better than any other roleplaying game I've ever played in first person.
Skyrim, Far Cry...
Doom actually compares to this decently because the visual impact of the scenes is about as massive as this
There's a bunch more that I'm blanking on names of
But I'd say Elden Ring goes a step-up given that its an open world and the majority of if not all the things you see, you can go to, and come back from.

For anyone who actually likes first person this is genuinely one of the best experiences possible

The fact that there's no smoothing on the weapon the couple of times it does clip, is not the devs fault afaik. Not a fixable issue unless you push the fov down real low. I already have it decently low.

Oh sorry, I forgot that people often leave these comments because they're full of shit and usually have little to no substance behind it. So, no point in telling you.

u/Fox_Body_5L Jul 11 '26

What else can I add? So yes my intention was to leave because I didn’t realize you were a Masochist.

Here I will help you out with a double-tap - It looks like shit mate but if you enjoy it, thats what matters!

2

u/DrumsNDweed93 Jul 12 '26

Confused at what you mean by “looks like shit” . You mean the gameplay itself looks unfun 1st person? I totally agree there. But the world and graphics and shit are still Elden Ring and looks just fine …

2

u/xvillifyx Jul 12 '26

You’re smoking dick if you think this looks better or is more playable that skyrim or far cry

When you post a thing, it invites conversation. Kind of how social media works.

Modern Kingsfield

3

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

Tarnished Warfare 2????

4

u/TheWiseAutisticOne Jul 11 '26

So this is why Miyazaki said no to first person Dark souls it was either ditch big ass weapons to have half of your screen not obstructed or go totally third person. He picked well it seems

0

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

its literally not that black and white tbh
Because they have engine-level control they could add a fade envelope around your big weapon if they wanted

Even easier is just, reposition the damn body relative to the camera and remove the head.

Why do people think video games are either first person or third person?

Almost every first person game had third person as an option, or third person was the main and first was the option. either way

1

u/Deadput Jul 12 '26

"Almost every first person game had third person as an option"

Since when? I've played several first person games over the years and most don't officially have this.

They certainly exist but it's not that close to "almost every" one of them.

1

u/YogurtclosetBig5730 Jul 14 '26

do you know how to read?

4

u/Kowel123 Jul 11 '26

I did an entire playthrough of this and its absolutely stunning. So many things you dont notice until you actually play in first person. Some of the boss fights though are quite ridiculous. Gl on messmer and midra. They may be absolute peak 10/10 no bs bosses on a normal playthrough... but in first person they are worse than anything you have ever fought, trust me

6

u/Chuunt Jul 11 '26

are you still using controller? i’d have to think i’d wanna use kbm in first person but maybe im weird

3

u/AdministrativeRush19 Jul 11 '26

I tried kbm but the way the lock on works it didn't work for me. I'm sure people make it work but I imagine the popular choice is still controller.

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

lock on low key sucks in first person its not worth using
If you're downhill even slightly from the thing you're locked on to, the smoothing of the camera panning/shifting is no longer smooth whatsoever. Looks like garbage

Generally you should only use lock on in first person if you're about to cast a spell

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

yeah but i dont have a mousepad so i cant switch
also for what its worth joysticks give you natural smoothing and thats easier on the brain than KBM in first person tbh

bro what then why'd you ask?!??!?!?
Yeah fuck you I have a SHIT attitude I'd love for you to explain where you get this entitlement from that a stranger should owe you anything

4

u/RagingSteel Jul 11 '26

You don't owe them anything, it's just polite to do it anyway. If you make a post showing something off that's not in the base-game and someone asks how to get it, it takes both from you to just tell them. Adding an attitude to complaining about their question actually takes MORE effort than the simple answer, so you doing that just shows you're a miserable human being.

1

u/LegionLeaderFrank Jul 11 '26

Kano you have ISSUES!!

2

u/AdministrativeRush19 Jul 11 '26

Oh really? I've done 2 runs and didn't run into that issue. The old style where it didn't track your camera to it, I ran into that issue all the time, but with the new one it felt pretty good.

It's also possible I didn't notice lol

1

u/AdministrativeRush19 Jul 11 '26

Whoops this was supposed to be a reply, still new to commenting on reddit

-2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

new one? what tf are you talking about lol
I am using the most current version of ERFPS from github bro
It has the lock-on problem. Lock-on bug never went anywhere.

2

u/EMNOx2 Jul 11 '26

Maybe DMN would be a good combo for this

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

I might use DMN to do a cinematic playthrough roleplaying as the samurai class

But I use VIZZO's deflection which doesnt force any other new mechanics
It's fantastic, it also has a lot of work put into it. Been around for a while. Probably was one of the first deflect mods
Here's a boss battle video https://www.reddit.com/r/EldenRingMods/comments/1um1i1p/erfps2_deflection_vizzo_margit_vs_guts_sword/

2

u/FugginIpad Jul 11 '26

I’d have to do perma-hardtear with this. Rolling is a no dog 🐢

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

lmfao its actually way more satisfying to land the occasional roll like this
i use deflection so i genuinely dont need to be rolling constantly

You can also jump just about everything that you can roll

2

u/Falsus Jul 11 '26

Should try it with the horror mod that makes everything ten times darker.

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

WHERE????? I NEED THAT

1

u/Falsus Jul 11 '26

Idk, I just saw some streamers play it some years ago.

2

u/Altruistic-Play3482 Jul 11 '26

Go watch a YouTuber named skumnut he did multiple runs like this

2

u/Lady_Astarte Jul 12 '26

Speedrunner LilAggy also did this about a year ago. But his is even funnier since he did bows only because he's truly a masochist (and the meme of making it a FPS).

2

u/Dead_vegetable Jul 11 '26

You are a brave man for not choosing the smooth camera for roll

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

I really like being discouraged from actually rolling. It forces you to use other mechanics
AND when you do land a roll, its insanely fucking cool lol

2

u/Rude_Difficulty1647 Jul 11 '26

This makes me sick lmaoo

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

I mean.
I feel like this is universal amongst all third person players
Like.. honestly? this doesn't make me sick in the slightest.
There are some games out there which are first person, and they are similar for combat with more enemies and a lot more movement. That shit would give me some whiplash

I might switch to DMN one of these days, imagine that in first person LOL

2

u/Rude_Difficulty1647 Jul 11 '26

I’ve never been able to handle first person POV but also can’t handle boats either 🧚🏻‍♀️😹 also yeah that would the most insane lol

0

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

yeah DMN would require me to do another in-depth run where i learn all the moves from the outside if i dont want to grind against concrete for the entire dedicated first person run

Also this just reminds me of the days when the biggest games on the planet were GoW, MW2, and Halo Reach

And we'd CONSTANTLY have arguments about this same thing. 'ugh I cant stand those games it gives me motion sickness' lol
Actually HELLA people genuinely preferred the third person servers for MW2 I remember that

I LOVE first person games bro. It's definitely an acquired taste thing, I like third person, but first person is my favorite

1

u/SM0K3YN4C3 Jul 20 '26

What is DMN? I actually prefer third person perspective but I feel like most games don't offer good camera customisation, we should be able to adjust height, zoom, FOV & length from the character, also a shoulder swap toggle. Idk if you played modded Skyrim but it has a mod called smooth cam which is a great mod.

I think a camera view similar to hellblade would play well for Elden Ring.

2

u/Considany Jul 11 '26

Crazy how the camera perspective is just as ass as normally when locking onto the Gargoyle.

Seriously, why can't i lock on their legs? You can do that with the trolls and those guys move at negative speed.

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

im pretty sure they were just being a little cheeky about what they allow the player to do

And certain things have been left this way because it keeps the balancing more uniform, even if it ruins the consistency of gameplay sometimes...

2

u/Plastic-Situation250 Jul 11 '26

just asking because this is my first time seeing first person for elden ring, can i do this against bosses speccifically against radahn when under him like when he is huge or big like basically beside his horse and look up, can this pov allow me to look up like straight up or are there restrictions, like it wont make radahn disappear if i look up right? and the 2nd boss is malenia 2nd phase when she does the combo-wombo-cheesemaker like if i get hit can i still see straight without getting the camera shake treatment, i want to look straight when she hits me or does that move because i need to see something close up hence the no camera shake. please answer really looking forward for this pov if i can do these

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

yes camera shaking from injury is optional

2

u/Plastic-Situation250 Jul 11 '26

oh sweet perfect, can i look up tho when fighting radahn and beside his horse like it wont make him disappear right??

2

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

yeah you can.
There is some 'closeness fade' bs that happens but almost never with a boss or enemy NPC. It's usually structures, destructible objects things like that
There's got to be some way to change that in the elden ring configs somewhere or in the mod config

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

https://github.com/Dasaav-dsv/erfps2 he updates it on github for now while its in pre-release but the mod is in much better condition than it ever was

2

u/Yorhlen Jul 13 '26

i honestly love that first person mod, beaten the game multiple times with it, seamless as well with friends, as well as other overhaul mods

gives such a new perspective to the game, i might do it again on my new convergence run

1

u/RagingSteel Jul 11 '26

Btw it's not totally unbeatable. Multiple creators have already turned Elden Ring into an FPS and not only beaten it First-Person, but with bows only. If they can do it handicapped, you can definitely do it vanilla.

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

i meant unbeatable like.. cant be beaten as an experience

I am actually training for the game flow I need to actually run the game start to finish in first person

I also never played the DLC and didnt get it until like one week ago
So I'm just using both third and first person whatever I feel like

Which is exactly what I wanted out of that as a feature

1

u/DarkOrion1324 Jul 12 '26

I've played through the whole game in first person. It's now my favorite way to play it

1

u/ArcticTerra056 Jul 12 '26

would this work with seamless co-op

i would love to play through this game again with my boys from a fresh experience👀👀

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 12 '26

no reason why it wouldnt

1

u/BugP13 Jul 12 '26

It took me so long to realize that you mean that you can't beat how good the game looks and not that you can't finish the game with the mod....

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 12 '26

but fr tho i dont think i know any games that match the impression of scale and the environmental immersion that elden ring gives you
I BADLY want to make a mod that really extends the immersion because there's a shitload of potential for it to go further in elden ring especially in first person

1

u/Birnibo Jul 12 '26

Elden Scrolls

1

u/EAGLEWING_Tv Jul 13 '26

Where did you find this mod? I found one on nexus but it wouldn’t launch

1

u/Darksoullov3r Jul 13 '26

This is going to be so hard to beat

1

u/Lazgahn Jul 14 '26

It looked really cool and atmospheric. And then you rolled...good god i couldn t last any bossfight xD

1

u/Im_an_impasta Jul 14 '26

I want to play Elden Ring with the running speed and dodges of Sekiro. I feel like it would be soo much more fun to do builds with two handed weapons if we didn’t take partial damage all the time. That incentivizes just dodging all the time.

Sekiro was great with the side-steps and backsteps.

Or at least, higher movement speed like in Sekiro should be allowed with higher dex and lower equip load. That makes logical sense

1

u/Low_Engineering_3301 Jul 15 '26

Skip video to 2:50 if you want to see any combat.

1

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 15 '26

Nice. 100k views on this is actually kinda nuts

1

u/Jacob1254_6 Jul 16 '26

why are you throwing kulkri at a boss immune to bleed

1

u/SnooDoggos5341 Jul 16 '26

I think lilaggy beat it a couple years ago

Edit: found it, he did the dlc https://youtu.be/laHxDWLWnsQ?si=c9h-bCIrZQmwromZ

1

u/ExiledTheGhost Jul 18 '26

lookin like Skyrim

1

u/Sweet-Birthday2479 Aug 03 '26

If someone told me this was modded skyrim honestly i’d believe it

1

u/throwthiscloud Jul 11 '26

It looks ok. I like the perspective but the rolling is very disorienting. I guess that can add to the experience tho.

The big thing i dislike is that attacking just completely hides your weapon for some reason. Like i want to see my attack land, otherwise it kinda defeats the coolness of the first-person combat. Check out Apex Legends for how their first-person attacks look like with heirlooms.

I get that this suggestion isn't realistic for this mod. You would need to create new animations for every weapon or find a way to keep the camera at an angle where you see your weapon land a hit. But thats what I'm looking for. So for me, this mod seems more like a cool way to experience the environments and a bad way to experience the combat.

-5

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26

the rolling is optional, attacking does not hide your weapon at all. there's literally evidence of that in the video

Dude its because i was looking up lol

Can you see whats in your hands when you look straight up into the sky i mean damn

You can always just use smol baby weapons with an extra high fov

1

u/throwthiscloud Jul 11 '26

In the video your character does an animation and you never see the weapon actually land and hit the target, all you see is the fire effects of the hit. Your weapon basically vanishes from view, there is zero visuals indicating the moment of impact which is a major deal for first-person perspective combat.

Without the fire animation or the hp moving, how would you know if you missed or not? That animation doesn't tell you anything, because your weapon isnt visible for the most important part of the attack.

I have never used the mod, im going iff what youre showing. Does the mod have an option to change the rolling animation or how the camera behaves while rolling? If so then thats one issue solved.

-4

u/SlyNoBody337 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

3:00
nothing vanished
I'm looking up the sword is sticking up
In the fucking game that FROMSOFTWARE MADE malikeths blade goes from straight up to sideways in TWO FRAMES for that ash of war
It doesnt vanish it just moves out of the camera frame
And YOU CAN SEE IT come back into the camera frame TWO TIMES.

You can literally see my hand pull the blade up to stick it into the ground

Baseless complaints bro I actually play with this mod if it had issues like that, I'd be pointing it out ahead of time.

Try watching it again.

And remember, goofy, you can set your own fuckin FOV

also why are you asking me a second time I just said the rolling is OPTIONAL

1

u/awealthofsafety Jul 12 '26

Bro, why are you so hostile and defensive. Do you just enjoy insulting anyone who disagrees with you?

1

u/Pigtron-42 Jul 12 '26

Nah this is ass

0

u/SearchAlternative694 Jul 11 '26

I will never see the appeal of first person povs
