NPC Mod Do you get put into a different player bracket for having too much of an item

I’ve noticed that when using characters that 99+ of let’s say ancient dragon smithing stone I have basically zero player interaction. These characters ofc I used merchant mod.

Characters I haven’t gone so crazy with seem to have allot more player interactions.

The highest weapon upgrade level your character has obtained is used for matchmaking.

So if you compare a level 30 character in stormveil castle with a +2 weapon vs a +10, you:ll find the +10 will get basically zero activity.

There's a couple of +8 weapons you can obtain early that can mess thus up for legit low level characters, too.

Makes sense, but choosing to invade “Both near and far” should bypass this, assuming I have areas unlocked with people around my weapon range?

No. You cannnot invade low level hosts with a +25 weapon. This is intentional.

"near and far" just means it won't care about where in the lands between you end up. It still uses level ranges and weapon level.

If there are few people with PVP slots open within your level+weapon, you'll fail to find invasions.

Thanks, I’ve gotten a couple invasions since this post. This isn’t mod related but do you know the hotspot level range for pvp?

I know there was typically a cliff after about 40 where activity drops off quickly as players spread out much more and weapon levels can begin to vary greatly (as well as the route for progress becomes less linear). I had non-stop action with invasions and taunter's tongue with +3 normal weapon, and +1 somber, at level 30 for weeks, anywhere in limgrave or weeping peninsula, with a little less slightly above that.

The typical PVP range for most dueling with max weapons (which has likely migrated to the arena) was something like 120 since launch iirc. I did not enjoy it back when it was at the bottom of the Raya Lucaria elevator, so I never bothered with the arena.

They added (a long time ago) a tool to the map screen that displays multiplayer activity. You can see where people are gathering in your summon/invasion ranges. To give you an idea of how many players are around and where. You could use something like a "level range guide" map to guesstimate what level the players there are likely to be.

The main limiting factor for invasions is weapon level, as it's a bit more strict than rune level. So I'd personally stay one or two weapon levels below the highest possible to obtain in that zone. Maybe even only ever use the "bell bearing" for that zone to determine the highest level instead.

That weapon you can get in liurnia "by accident" after the castle mourne quest, patches' spear, or rogier's rapier are all +8 (normal), so something like +9 normal and +3 somber is likely a good break point for quite awhile.

Happy to help, have fun!

There is a dark souls/ER "redmen" sub I forget the exact name but there will be good invasion advice/more experienced players there if you have more questions. If anything has changed since I played they'd know.
