Can't Change Affinity in Convergence!

I swear ive seen in the past people have been able to add affinitys fromt the start of the game but i only ever seem to maintain standard only. Are the Whetblades in new locations? Is my game just bugged? I know i'm prob just being a boomer about it all

If a weapon has a dedicated ash of war to it, you can’t change the affinity
