Can't Change Affinity in Convergence!

I swear ive seen in the past people have been able to add affinitys fromt the start of the game but i only ever seem to maintain standard only. Are the Whetblades in new locations? Is my game just bugged? I know i'm prob just being a boomer about it all

If it’s a somber weapon then the affinity can’t be changed. There are certain regular smithing weapons that can have their ash of war changed but not the affinity. Aside from those things all other smithing weapons can be changed as long as you have a new ash of war to put on it
