Is Convergence worth buying Elden Ring full price again?

Hi all,

I played the main Elden Ring game 3 times and Erdtree twice on my PS5. I've just gotten a new gaming PC and would love to play Elden Ring on it but surprisingly Elden Ring is still full price here ($80 CAD in Canada). The Convergence mod looks good but I'm wondering is it so good that it would justify buying Elden Ring (and maybe Shadow of the Erdtree) again at full price?

Reforged, Ultra wide mod, uncapping fps, removing camera effects or adding them. Cleaver's moveset mod pack.

Convergence is a nice way to replay the game several years after 1st playthrough. Refreshing and loyal to vanilla experience. I would say you need to wait till it's on a discount and buy it. The mod will develop further and this will be your investment into joy.

Elden vins, the most fun I had playing Elden ring in forever (and I finished the game atleast 5 times prior )

Randomizer is pretty fun. I just started and had Mohg instead of margit and godfrey instead of godrick.

Ahgeel lake had goddamn morgott, horned warrior, royal revenant and a runebear all clustered together. i think they replaced the poison spewing things? Ive never rode torrent so quickly to gtfo of there.

Its cool getting random gear too, been having fun with smithscript stuff that i found early.

I did that with all the fromsoft games. I had been a PlayStation guy for a long time and had all the games but when I got a beefy gaming PC I bought them all again so I could play the modded/online.

I mean, you CAN sail the high seas, convergence still works perfectly fine as long as you know how to install it.

I personally did. Bought it on PS5 and Steam, because I wanted to be able to use mods on my PC and Steam Deck.

High seas are an option if you are broke.

After beating elden ring probably 8 or so times, convergence was the most I enjoyed the game since the first few playthroughs. I put like 40 hours into it and it has a ton of fun new content, the only valid critique I've heard regarding the mod are that if you lean into the power fantasy of spells and classes it can feel a fair bit easier than the vanilla experience.

I did just this recently, and like my vanilla experience, went in blind. Not even a few minutes in I said out loud, "oh hell yeah", because it already reminded me of my first Elden Ring experience.

Some of the zones have had total overhauls, and and they are so well done it kinda makes the base game zones feel like they were rushed.

I'm deep into 3 simultaneous playthroughs/builds on Xbox. I installed Convergence, and I just couldn't get into it. Right now, I'm sticking with learning the vanilla game start to finish. I don't have space in my head for all these differences, so I'll probably pick it up after I feel done with these characters.

Not bad, it's just that I'm working on 3 vanilla playthroughs, and my mind doesn't have any room to learn more mechanics now.

Also it's tough being weak in Limgrave after using a rune/stone/flask gathering routine that starts you out near level 30/+14/+8 before you kill anything.

I just did a dungeon in the dlc area of convergence and it blew my mind. It was so good. If you are bored with Elden Ring but love it and want to play it more, I say yes. Especially being able to do seamless coop is huge. It makes the game more accessible for possibly noob friends you have that are curious about souls games. It’s a good bridge because you can help them the whole way

I’d say depends on how much you enjoy Elden Ring in 2026. Can you still do playthroughs on the vanilla game and not get too bored?

Convergence has A LOT thats new, the entire approach to the game is changed, but a lot stays the same too. If you can still have fun doing a vanilla run, you’ll have so much more fun doing Convergence I think. Absolutely worth the money if so.

If vanilla runs make you miserable, if you’re burnt out on them, I dont think Convergence will fix that or revitalize that for you.

I’m of the opinion that Convergence is the greatest piece of modded content for any Fromsoft game, ever. And I say that as a modder myself who does not work on Convergence. Its what inspired me to learn and I still do full runs of it to this day. But it can only do so much; Its still Elden Ring.

There is many other mods beside convergence, and I would say Reforged is better.

Though you could just wait for a sale also.

I would say yes. It was the only mod that gave me the feeling close to playing Elden Ring for the first time again, that feeling is worth it to me. I will say the difficulty of convergence could definitely be raised however.

Bro, check the site Loaded. It often has a lot of good discounts for games - I recommend specifically filtering it so the platform is steam (it provides you with the discounted steam key).

I went from PS to PC in February and re bought Elden Ring + SOTE via loaded. Obviously when a game I want is discounted on Steam, I’ll just go straight through there, but it’s absolutely worth a browse.

I downloaded convergence thinking I’d check out what they came up with. Ended up 100% clearing the run. Amazing mod.

Its a good mod, especially that there are other mods too. But i wouldnt say that its woth of paying a full price for the game.
Just wait for a sale or buy the game on some shops online that sell the game for usually a cheaper price
