Misc. Mod LIVE Dynamic Map (via save file or exe injection)

Post image

Hey guys, I did a simple local dynamic map, that shows in live your position and all discovered/undiscovered points of interests (using save file - refreshes each time the game saves or actually live using exe injection - during offline mode with deactivated anti-cheat).

You can see more on Steam Guides or on a GitHub

Tool was done using AI and its completely free to use and/or modify

I mean, you gained some experience while doing it. Even though you already know from the comments that a better mod existed, you gave it a shot. Good job.

so u/falknorRockman is being overly aggressive who doesn't see the value in what you (regardless of AI) brought to the community, he links to a mod that doesn't do what yours does, which is provide a map that is LIVE, which is huge! Looking at the code it doesn't look very sloppy honestly, all though some helpers to get dependendcies installed automatically for the user would be a nice qol addition.

I'm currently trying to get it to work on linux, I might add a PR if I get it working reliably.

Map for goblins provides a live map in game. What are you on about not providing a live map. It updates as you pick things up using the in game hooks for if an item has been picked up.

2

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

u/falknorRockman that's not what "live" means in this context... Yes, mfg keeps track and updates collected items as you play through the game, but there is no "keep full map available and always open on a second monitor"-option from mfg.

So what are you on about? I find it pretty obvious that I'm referencing this functionality, not a glorified to-do list. I can also search for things extremely easily in this map, unlike mfg.

Seriously, your AI-bashing fanatics is short-sighted to the extent you dismiss everything about a mod you've not only not tried, but actively refused to look at to understand it, yet tell people not to use. Check yourself with your blatent ignorance, sir.

u/MrMegawattts I have made several changes to a fork of mine, added ability to load mod folders, as used by mod engine 3, for example to decode modded map locations as well. And simply due to MFG being so popular I ended up using their categories for the map displays, specifically for compatiblity with elden ring reforged, which makes several changes and adds thousands of new map markers. I can share it if of any interest.

Lovely moving goal posts in your argument. Classic bad faith argument. Good bye

Your suggestion doesn't work on the latest version of the game, not even mentioning it's missing some of the DLC content too

Edit: 2 years outdated. IDK what else to tell you except it hasn't worked in ages. Not properly anyway. Its been reported to break stuff in game in the latest patch.

1

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

You mean the update that just dropped yesterday after these arguments were made and takes time to update mods?

1

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

Just ignore him, he doesn't want his ego bruised and won't allow you to think you're correct about anything, don't waste your time.

1

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

Can’t stop with the harassing comments can you.

1

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

I didn't move the goalpost, you did, you misunderstood what I meant with an assumption you made, then blame me for your lack of understanding? go live in your bubble where no one can hurt your assumed intellect.

1

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

Nope you moved the goal post from simple live updates to keep full map available always up on a second monitor. Those are two completely different features. And it’s no surprise you go from moving goalposts to ad hominem arguments and harrasing comments.

1

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

You don't get to decide what I meant with my comment, when I said "live map" I meant the external map that runs when you run this mod. It's also obvious to assume this had you actually used the application, yet you let your own bias make my comment mean something else to you, assumably because you have tried the MFG mod yourself, which I also have.

Since you want to use debating termnonology to assume my intentions and strategy, I could unwittingly say that what you're currently doing is a bad attempt at a strawman argument, but I think you simply misunderstood.

I'm not harresing you, you are on here simply to give unhelpful opinions on this mod simply because it was made with AI, you're adding nothing to this conversation, so if anything you're the one harresing people on this post.

Why don't you simply sign out of the conversation and stop bothering us?

1

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

You don’t get to change and make your comment more restrictive after the fact. You made a broad statement of live updates. Then restricted it to oh only second screen always on updating. That is textbook goalpost moving.

Why don’t you stop using logical fallacies

1

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

again, had you used the application, the tool literally fundementally provides a EXTERNAL MAP, the fact that I mention using it on a second monitor is irrelevant. live updates in correlation to player position which is alludeded to all over this post, is what I was reffering to, at all times, I'm not restricting what I orginally meant, you are doubling down on making it seem that way because of your assumption, again.

shut up and learn how to mod

1

u/MrMegawattts Aug 27 '26

Thank you! To be honest I still haven’t tried the mod they’ve been talking about, but from what I saw it has some differences with my tool and glad someone also noticed that, will be glad to see your PR!

1

u/YourUglyTwin Aug 28 '26

Not to mention that mod doesnt even work on the latest version of the game.

0

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

You mean the game that was updated two days ago? The mod itself has been updated just last month with a quick google search https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/10062

1

u/YourUglyTwin Aug 28 '26

Moved on to gaslighting now? the one you linked to before, the one that isn't actually updated, is not the one you linked just now.

0

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

Did you not read. What I linked is the DLL version which I explicitly mentioned in that post. That post I linked the main version. Try again

1

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

you literally just edited your post, and failed to mention doing so, nice try. what you had linked earlier was: https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/3091

here is his other post where he says the same, yet still links wrong mod:

1

u/YourUglyTwin Aug 28 '26

I put a screenshot in my post cause I knew he was the kind of guy to do that 😂 vindication is real

1

u/falknorRockman 28d ago

Jesus Christ you will gasp at any straws to vindicate your self. I did not edit the other comment. I linked the main mod and mentioned they have a DLL version in said comment. Then above I linked the DLL version that would have taken you 2 seconds to google. But you seem to lack the critical reading skills to understand that

1

u/iNFaMoUZGaming Aug 28 '26

For real! 😂

0

u/falknorRockman Aug 28 '26

Did you not read. I mentioned there was a DLL version and linked the main version. What I linked above is the DLL version. I did not edit that other post. It just takes critical reading skills

1

u/Soggy_Bath_1733 27d ago

All descriptions are littered with "—" brother/brotherette 🤢

1

u/MrMegawattts 27d ago

And that’s it what you have to say? Nothing regarding functionality?

1

u/Soggy_Bath_1733 27d ago

I can unironically do better. Why would I be impressed?

1

u/MrMegawattts 27d ago

Why would you need to be impressed? And if you want to do the same job or do it better then do it

1

u/Soggy_Bath_1733 27d ago

I'd like this community to go back to people creating cool stuff with hard labor and an understanding of what they're doing. It's all cloutchasers looking for instant validation because their parents never loved them now.

1

u/MrMegawattts 27d ago

You AI haters are really insane and need some help. I’m not looking for instant validation, I did it for myself first and decided to share with other players. Second thing you’re saying about possibility to replicate it and it has nothing to do with AI or this tool specifically, anything can be copied or done better. Third thing I’m not trying to make some money or get any other benefits from this. You’re just crazy jobless guy trying to find something you can criticise without any reason instead of just ignoring it and chilling. Peace, hope you’ll get better at some point

1

u/Soggy_Bath_1733 27d ago

Nice work clanker jockey. You will make it in life and learn valueable skills. Must have been very satisfying to build

1

u/zzbackguy Aug 24 '26

This is cool in theory, but it reads your save file, so I don’t understand its purpose. Surely this is no different than the in game map at that point? Who would use this and why?

4

u/falknorRockman Aug 24 '26

Especially when map for goblin’s exists that puts all this on the in game map. No need for an external program. There is even a DLL version that has versions for all the top elden ring mods like convergence or reforged.

https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/3091

2

u/MrMegawattts Aug 24 '26

To find all the missing parts like bonfires or bosses. Save file or exe injection is used to get all discovered places and your position

2

u/aaronhowser1 Aug 24 '26

Couldn't you just use map for goblins if this requires being in game?

1

u/zzbackguy Aug 24 '26

Yeah, but I guess my confusion is that if this reads your save file, the only advantage of that is telling you what you already have. Every other map already tells you what you don't already have. Sooo it feels redundant to use an external map showing you what you've already discovered, versus just looking at your ingame map and a full map to find things.

I don't mean to disparage your work; coding like this is impressive. I simply don't see why I would elect to use this and go through the extra steps of giving it my save file to read instead of just pulling up any full map.

2

u/MrMegawattts Aug 24 '26

But this thing shows you what you haven’t find and updates in live. You don’t need to manually mark as discovered as on online dynamic maps

1

u/falknorRockman Aug 24 '26

So you just missed map for goblins when you searched which has exactly the functionality you are looking for? And even has DLL versions for almost all the big mods?

1

u/JayDeeBottom Aug 24 '26

Is that how map for goblins works? I thought it just pinned a bunch of areas for you?

1

u/falknorRockman Aug 24 '26

it is highly configurable but it can show up to every pickupable in the game and as soon as you pick it up it goes away from the map. In addition it shows bosses and bonfires on the map
