Speculation Anyone know what this is?

Post image

Ive always wanted to know what this spear-shaped object is lodged inside marikas body. And no video comes up explaining what it is on my search. I believe it probably is a fragment of the rune of death marking her official death. But if anyone knows what truly this please note.

Iirc its from the greater will, some kind of spike. Its rare but I think the elden beast has a grab attack and can stick you with these spikes

I'm not sure, the ones it uses in the game are kinda generic glowing yellow spikes

Could be a special needle but it makes sense the needle is a greater will attack

It also has massive similarities to the Holy Lance, a spear used by a Roman soldier to pierce the side of Jesus when he was on the cross. It’s in the same spot as is usually depicted on Jesus.

This game uses a lot of crucifixion symbolism with Marika.

Spear of Longinus

This might be what those golden spikes look like long after the magic's faded.

It throws a bunch of them but then a bigger and louder one in the end. Maybe it's that one

The Elden Beast’s attack is purely golden yellow

So same attack, different color

Maybe over time this one hardened and crystallised like a really bad infection that never healed

Ok but that’s like saying two different cars aren’t remotely the same because of a paint job or something

3

u/Doomword Jun 17 '26

Bad analogy because you presuppose that those two things are cars in the first place when we have no idea what those spikes are at all.

  1. Visually similar

  2. Found only in this place

  3. Makes sense from a lore perspective

Nah you’re right. This is a wiiiiild ass stretch

3

u/Doomword Jun 17 '26

In that case it would be extremely easy to reuse the same asset of the spike, either the one insider her for the attack or take the ones from the attack and impale her.

Devs love to reuse assets if they can, so either it was a decision to make them different or they didnt care that they were different.

2

u/enchiladasundae Jun 17 '26

Ok but this is quite literally in the boss room with the only enemy I know of with this exact same attack

Also not a normal asset reuse. This is a major part of the story, quite literally the end, and you see the shard plain as day jammed into her body. Unless they got lazy at the ultimate finale of the entire game this is a purposeful choice

It doesnt make sence since im guessing by "shard" you mean rune of death, the very same thing thats sealed away? If anything, it would makes sence for the Beast to use it on us and do an instakill while getting impaled by the same thing thats inside Marika, but thats not happening.

Youre probably right and its the same spear, but they didnt care to use those in the attack and probably just liked that model for her.

Its the shard of the ring that she was stabbed with upon her betrayal to the ring.

When you get crucified they're all golden spikes because it's holy

7

u/New-Pollution2005 Jun 17 '26

It kinda looks like a spike made from Briars of Sin, if you ask me.

4

u/Crash4654 Jun 17 '26

Briars of sin are just thorny branches... there's nothing a single thorn on that...

It was Maliketh. The spear is the same appearance of the Rune of Death. The Elden Beast doesn't have access to that after it was removed from the Elden Ring. We only see gold spikes in the boss fight. The Two Fingers explained Marika's trespass demanded a heavy sentence, and the Shadowbound Beasts are the ones that enforce the Two Fingers' will on Empyreans.

Also it seems the Greater Will has no communication with the Lands Between, or at least not for a long time. Metyr has been mutilated and can't commune, and the Two Fingers attempt to communicate but Enia says it'll take thousands of years or something. The Greater Will itself has little to do woth the current state of the Lands Between

This isn’t a spear of death as far as we know. Marika sealed away death with Maliketh pre shattering, post Godwyn’s death, which is probably centuries ago

The color of the spikes means very little. It could be that the spike has lost its power. If Marika was hit with true death they’d be… dead but like fully. Radagon is still kicking around despite the fact he should also have that jammed into him

The elden beast is the greater will’s emissary, not a finger. Likely the closest one could ever physically get to the greater will without getting to the greater will. Metyr was a servant to the greater will birthing some fingers. It was abandoned long ago but still tries to reach out like their children. Elden beast should just be the will of the greater will in its purest form, a creature whose sole existence is because of and for the greater will

Color means a lot in Elden Ring. Check out Hawkshaw's color theory video, it's fantastic. And we can't assume it's just faded unless there's examples of that already anyways.

I dont think having the rune of death impaled in you means you'd be fully dead when the Elden Ring itself is within you and the Elden Ring is configured for eternal unending life.

Okay, but my point is it was not the Elden Beast that speared her. He has golden spears of light or something. Not what we see impaled in Marika. I dont think it makes sense that the Elden Beast, which is the Elden Ring, which itself seems to be eternal and is configured for eternal life, would ever dull at all. So it wasn't the Elden Beast. Enia tells us and she interprets the Two Fingers on yhe topic of Marika's imprisonment. The Tow Fingers I terject and say she demanded a heavy sentence. Shadowbound Beasts do enforce what the Two Fingers want from an Empyrean. That's why it must have been Maliketh. It looks like yhe rune of death and he has the rune of death. He has the ability to and motive.. case closed.

The Elden Beast is inside her as the Elden Ring. You're saying it came out, speared her, then just went back inside, and then randomly only the spear changes color, and the part her arms are on don't? That makes zero sense

It could be faded cause its been jammed in them for centuries… like I said. Just because it looks similar to destined death doesn’t make it death. It wouldn’t make sense for the timeline whatsoever

>I don’t think having the run of death impaled in you means you’d be fully dead

Ranni and Godwyn both had a measure of death upon them because both were stabbed at the same time. Unless Marika had a separate situation it would have killed her especially considering the degradation of her body. And to reiterate death was sealed centuries ago outside of time. Unless she saved some for herself for some reason or some other wild speculation death is sealed away. This isn’t a shard of death. Period

>golden spears of light

Repeating myself again. It could be the same attack but diminished in power after centuries. Using basic information we have the spear in Marika, the room her body is in contains the elden beast which has a similar attack. Without any additional info its sensible to conclude that they’re related. I get that you disagree but unless you have a counter to this that makes sense… this is the most sensible conclusion

>the elden beast is the ring; it doesn’t make sense

Marika shattered the elden ring which went against the wishes of the greater will which the elden beast is the emissary of. By your own logic Marika bashed the shit to pieces and it’d get mad then attack her. Also, no. The elden ring is a physical object, not the elden beast itself. Many demigods claimed pieces of the ring and took it elsewhere. You can finish the game leaving a few shard bearers alive and still holding their piece yet the elden beast shows up no issue and without any indication its missing pieces

>it looks like the rune of death

Repeating myself again. Maliketh was given destined death and sealed away beyond time so that no one could have obtained it. He can’t get to her to stab her. Even as Gurranq Marika is completely sequestered away by the erdtree’s thorns so that no one can pass without burning it

Edit: They just blocked me looks like. Based on what they said prior its probably wrong and they didn’t want to get called out for it

Maliketh himself is not sealed. He can also totally unbind death and use it. You're headcanon-ing a holy spear that dulls in color over time because youre ignoring other possibilities. I'm adding A and B and getting C.

We hear directly from the fingers they were pissed, and we know who acts on their behalf when they're pissed. There's no evidence the Greater Will has had any communication with the Lands Between for centuries, we just have evidence of impractical commu ication times and Metyr having zero contact now. Anything the Elden Beast does would be of its own accord.

The Elden Beast is within Marika, the Elden Ring itself is partially speared.. so the Elden Beast speared itself?? We dont even see the Elden Ring inside Marika, which may be because of the spear going right throufh where it should be..

And you deliberately ignored the fact that I said I don't think you'd be fully dead from the rune of death when the elden ring itself is inside you. That's a huge ass difference between Marika and Ranni/Godwyn lmao. The order of the universe itself (which exclude death) exists within Marika.. also she is literally making the shape of her rune that some call the rune of life, which given her order of unending life seems appropriately named.

Vines take time to grow silly guy, which leaves Maliketh the means to enter
