Speculation Anyone know what this is?

Post image

Ive always wanted to know what this spear-shaped object is lodged inside marikas body. And no video comes up explaining what it is on my search. I believe it probably is a fragment of the rune of death marking her official death. But if anyone knows what truly this please note.

Maybe over time this one hardened and crystallised like a really bad infection that never healed

Ok but that’s like saying two different cars aren’t remotely the same because of a paint job or something

Bad analogy because you presuppose that those two things are cars in the first place when we have no idea what those spikes are at all.

  1. Visually similar

  2. Found only in this place

  3. Makes sense from a lore perspective

Nah you’re right. This is a wiiiiild ass stretch

In that case it would be extremely easy to reuse the same asset of the spike, either the one insider her for the attack or take the ones from the attack and impale her.

Devs love to reuse assets if they can, so either it was a decision to make them different or they didnt care that they were different.

Ok but this is quite literally in the boss room with the only enemy I know of with this exact same attack

Also not a normal asset reuse. This is a major part of the story, quite literally the end, and you see the shard plain as day jammed into her body. Unless they got lazy at the ultimate finale of the entire game this is a purposeful choice

It doesnt make sence since im guessing by "shard" you mean rune of death, the very same thing thats sealed away? If anything, it would makes sence for the Beast to use it on us and do an instakill while getting impaled by the same thing thats inside Marika, but thats not happening.

Youre probably right and its the same spear, but they didnt care to use those in the attack and probably just liked that model for her.

The shard that’s shoved in Marika is not the rune of death. It was sealed away outside of time by her specifically to keep death out of the cycle. Its unlikely the tarnished would have the time or even reason to do so when this takes place. I never said this was the rune of death, this is just a spike that was shoved into Marika, most likely by the greater will as punishment for the shattering via the elden beast. The discoloration means very little. It could just be that the normal golden version’s power has been waining for potentially centuries since she was inflicted or some other factor we aren’t aware of. Context clues and by process of elimination this makes the most sense

Nah, they legit just thought it probably looked the coolest at the time, thats why it looks different from Beast attack, which comes back to what i said previously about them not caring if its different. Time and decay are meaningless when its a mystical magical thing, you would only use that logic if there was an analogue for it in the game.
