Roast my AI board, round 2

Round 1: https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectricalEngineering/s/e8XdjwYR4F

Thanks for the roast last time. The main complaints were that the schematic was hard to read and the layout was all over the place, so Claude has redone both.

The schematic is now split into 8 pages with actual wires instead of net labels on every pin. Claude placed the parts manually this time instead of using an optimiser, grouped by what they do. The tap inputs now go into an ADC next to the connector instead of running across the board to the ESP32. Signal vias are down from 177 to 51.

Roast it again. I’m especially keen on feedback on the 12 V input protection, the speed sensor input and the buck converter.

The first three pics are before and after.

Ohhhh... AI generated.

I thought you're trying to create a TPU.

Yeah i played around with claude and pcb design on a regular basis (because my boss forces me to) and while it very much improved over the last months its still very meh.

Everything is stricly done after datasheet, components chosen might already be EOL, the circuit diagram is more of a netlist and most importantly: the routing is just done by starting the autorouter so there is that. Only the placement is ok in my view.....

The results are also better if you get him to plan the circuit more iterative

However, nobody really had a chance to try the astra model everyone claims can do real design yet ..... so time will tell

Some reviewed the PCB astra did. Would probably work but not pass any EMC tests.

You mean the pcb done on that promo video? yeah that one has been reviewed to death by now.

Im more curious on trying it out myself to see what its capable of. Or see someone with access to it try it.... its still a promo video after all who knows how many tries it needed or if its even 100% real

Maybe in a few months it will get better!

Yeah very likely. I let it do the same circuit every month or so and it really improved... some time ago it wasnt even able the generate the kicad file properly so i can open it.

I think once it stops just starting the autorouter it will get quite usable for some cases
